  1. Good Afternoon folks! Here is my first ever Luftwaffe subject! Always had a spot for the long-nosed Dora so decided to have a crack at the Hobbyboss kit that I picked up in Seoul for £12! Its a beauty and even comes with photoetched parts. I added some seatbelts and the old-style canopy from the Eduard kit. Paints by Mr Hobby and Xtracrylix, decals by SkyModels. The colour scheme may be inaccurate, I used an old article in a Luftwaffe modelling guide which I later found out contradicts Jerry Crandall's research. There is a good chance that it should be 'Black 11' and the RV band should be black and white too. Oh well! I like the JG2 markings Apologies for the depth of field issues with the photos, I took these outside and its nearly 50 degrees. It was a race to see if the model or I would melt first and as the flat coat started to get tacky after about 30 seconds there was no way I was going back out there to take more!!! Thanks for looking, Chris
  2. Beautiful build of a beautiful aeroplane Chris
  3. Don't see a lot of Harvards on here which is a shame if they anywhere near as good as this absolute cracker!!! Super job! Chris
  4. Just found this in "2nd Tactical Air Force, volume 1" - confirms at least one car-door.
  5. I have this saved on my computer, can't vouch for where the artist got his info from though sorry! :/ Chris
  6. Clear coats can sometimes be an inexact science! Bombload looks fantastic - looking forward to seeing this one finished! Chris
  7. Great job on a not-often seen scheme! Big tail, radome and bristling with weaponry - looks like she means business! Chris
  8. Lovely work so far! I like the fading effects on the paintwork Chris
  9. What a cracker! Very convincing paint job! Chris
  10. Cracking Beau! Hard to believe its 1/144th!!! Chris
  11. The most convincing winter distemper I've seen and a nicely built model to boot! Chris
  12. Nice wurger! The RV band looks especially neat Chris
  13. Thanks Jamie, that explains it better than I can! Troy I used a set of plans in the May 2015 Airfix Model World for the elevator mods, gun bay panels, bomb racks and ASV aerial. With regards to the wing patches I couldn't find any evidence of them on Coastal Beaus so I removed them, you can see the scars in the WIP cockpit picture. If you can get a copy of this magazine I highly recommend it, the info contained within is a great resource on the mighty Beau in Coastal Command! Chris
  14. Great model and great collection! How is the W&N satin coat? I swear by the Matt version Chris
  15. Thank you for the kind comments! IanC the Vallejo colours used were 71110 US Dark Grey and 71302 Sky type S. They came with the Vallejo RAF coastal command set. Chris
  16. Good morning! As stress relief from the god-awful Revell Mosquito I decided to build a Tamiya kit and chose the Beaufighter TF.X. Loosing sight of my plan for a nice easy build I added the following: Aires resin cockpit Changed Elevators to the correct earlier style and added droop Added the internal exhaust pipes and braces to the engine cowlings Quickboost hedgehog exhausts plus stretched sprue braces Internally detailed the navigators station to match the cockpit Scratch built Yagi/Rebecca aerial and bomb rack Rescribed the wings to represent the gun panels and dingy stowage Plated over the landing light Doped fabric over the cannon ports and wing guns as well as deleting the extra set of ejection ports Rockets pinched from a Tamiya Mosquito to replace the pitiful kit items, arming cables and plugs added Xtradecals decals Paints were by Vallejo and final flat coat by Windsor and Newton. There is some confusion as to wether this a/c had the serial NE425 or 825 but since I did not have any suitable decals to change this I stuck with Xtradecals' NE425. Coastal Command's early 'pimp-my-Beaufighter' configuration with bomb racks, rocket rails and the ASV aerial certainly makes for a busy looking model! Thanks for looking, Chris EDIT: Here are some photos showing the cockpit and elevator mods:
