  1. Looks 1/48th! You’ve done a great job of capturing the brutishness of the spad! Chris
  2. Lovely build, very subtle and effective weathering! Chris
  3. Thank you for your kind comments gentlemen! I see there are a few pointy Spit enthusiasts here too Chris
  4. Super build! Really captures the look of the Avenger. Must have been some achievement to shoot down a V1 in one!!!! Chris
  5. Lovely colour scheme and very tidy build! Chris
  6. A lot of post war aircraft had the wings stripped and the filler removed and some of the Aussie ones were built without. At least this way the modeller has the choice of filling the panel lines in rather than having to scribe them all in on a bare wing. Chris
  7. Beautifully built and weathered, love that colour scheme! Chris
  8. Great job on what I hear is a very challenging kit! Chris
  9. Stunning! That paint job is well tidy! Come on Airfix, do one of these in 1/48 please!!! Chris
  10. Hello everyone! Having recently finished wrestling with the ICM Bf109F I decided to take a break from tough-to-build kits by building the....ICM Spitfire VII! I built this kit about a year ago but an unfortunate reaction with the paint meant that it was a bit of a mess underneath and I was never happy with it. I ended up scrapping that kit and using its innards to build another kit, which you see here! I decided to build an aircraft that did not have the high-altitude tips as I had recently built a Spitfire VI and quite frankly I dont like them! Pictures show that MD111 of 131 Squadron did not have them fitted in July 1944 and hence became my choice of subject. The following mods were made to the ICM kit: Ultracast Propellor and cannons Spare Eduard gear legs Cockpit door deleted and cockpit pressure bulkhead scratchbuilt. Canopy rails from plastic sheet High-altitude paint scheme, paints by xtracrylics Decals from the spares box Hope you like it! I have attached a picture of her older sister the Mk.VI at the bottom to show the contrast with the colours and wingtips. Chris
  11. I have this kit, if it turns out to be half the model that you have built I will be overjoyed! The quality of the finish is superb! Chris
  12. Can’t understand a word of your description, but the superb modelling and photography speaks for itself! Excellent work! Chris
  13. Thank you for all your kind comments! I’ve added some new photos of this model to replace the dead photobucket links from the first post.
  14. Lovely model of a lovely aeroplane! The winter camo looks just right. ICM kits can be a struggle but in a perverse way I find them satisfying! I’ve just finished their Spitfire VII today. Chris
  15. Cracking model of a beast of an aeroplane! Well done!!! Chris
  16. Both are superb! Weathering, finish...just right. Very impressive considering what the demoralising loss of the first must have felt like! Chris
  17. Interesting points! I see VR930 has the gear door teardrops. Chris
  18. I used to take some satisfaction that our EAs were bulletproof compared to the Rollers, not any more I guess! I was thinking about this incident while looking at the engines during my walk-around last night, it's a fairly hefty piece of kit that departed the airframe and hence a good job that it failed over an uninhabited area. It's also unusual for such a failure to occur in the cruise, as the power increases during take off is a more common point. Perhaps they had just initiated a level change. Chris
  19. Oh Lordy, this is going to be good...! Chris
  20. Thank you for the kind comments! Chris
  21. I have the Hobbyboss version of this in the stash. Sometimes, after a glass of scotch I get it out and open the box. I have a look at the camo diagram, put it neatly away again then curl up into a ball and shake uncontrollably... What at an excellent job you have made of it! Your patience was certainly rewarded!!! Chris
