  1. Stunning! Excellent paint, weathering and finish!! Chris
  2. Top cat!! The paint and weathering are superb Chris
  3. In all fairness this doesn’t look like a mis-shapen lump like some of Trumpeters other works however the elevator cock-up here is typical of their poor research and/or lack of attention to detail. A thirty second google search for ‘firefly elevators’ would suffice to show how they look!! I’ll be interested to see how the rest of the kit compares to plans and photographs. My main bugbear here is that in the act of producing a modern yet inaccurate model of rarer subjects they will drive away manufacturers who otherwise would be willing to spend the time and effort to do them properly! Fingers crossed Trumpy don’t try to tackle the Scimitar, Firebrand, Venom etc.... Chris
  4. My oh my, what have they done with the elevators... Chris
  5. Beautiful job! There’s no such thing as too many Sea Furies!!!! Chris
  6. Can certainly see what an advance over the Hobbycraft kit the Airfix truly is! You’ve done a great job Tony and nice to see you didn’t shy away from the accurate gloss finish like did!!! Chris
  7. My first new-build model of the year is the Hobbycraft P-40F kit built as a P-40L the crashed during the Anzio invasion due to sabotage and is now displayed in the museum at Piana del Orme in Latina, Italy. These markings interested me due to the non-standard insignia, old code repaints and errors (see the right-side fin-flash). I used Eduard seatbelts, resin wheels, Squadron canopy, Vallejo paints and Sky Models decals to finish this model. Thanks for looking, Chris
  8. My second refurb of the year after the Sea Fury was the Academy 1/48 P-47D. I was not happy with the original NMF finish so I decided to strip it and start again. I used kits-world decals, Tamiya/Vallejo paints and Winsor and Newton Matt varnish to finish. The gear doors were scratch built as I managed to lose the originals and the canopy is a vac-form from Squadron. Hope you like it! Thanks for looking, Chris
  9. Hi All! Given the excitement generated by the new Airfix Sea Fury I decided to drag my old Hobbycraft kit off the shelf and give it a bit of TLC. The original model used white metal gear and prop plus a vac canopy so these were reused for the rebuild. The fun part was reattaching the previously folded wings and rescribing the hinge lines... I used xtradecals and vallejo paints finished off with Winsor and Newton Satin varnish. I have attached a pic of the model as it was originally as a comparison. This should satisfy my Sea Fury cravings until I can build my Airfix and AMG kits. Hope you like it! Chris
  10. Super Corsair! I’m just finishing a Bearcat in these colours Chris
  11. Well that’s a bit nice! Great work, the colours and weathering are spot on! Chris
  12. Looking great! AFAIK the first batch of Fury FB.60s provided to Iraq did not have arrestor hooks or the mounting hump. A later batch of refurbished ex-RN FB.11s had the hump but no hook. Chris
  13. Paintwork, weathering, photography...all perfect! Stunning Dora!!! Chris
  14. Great model of a lovely aeroplane, wouldn’t it be nice if a mainstream company decided to tool one of these? Chris
  15. Love the markings and the paint chipping at the wing root is SUPERB! One of the best turkeys I’ve seen! Chris
  16. Very nice! I’m planning to do this scheme with one of mine. Chris
