  1. HAD proposes a solid black disc on the starboard fuselage. AMG offers an alternative code 6/48 without the personal initial. Are there any photographs or contemporary notes supporting these options?
  2. Glad I waited to start another Airfix New Tool Spitfire Vc until Paul Lucas' updated article appeared in this month's Scale Aircraft Modelling. My concern is I believe that the accompanying Vallejo Model Color recommendations are far too pale to properly represent Deep Sky and Light Mediterranean Blue, (ie 70.844 and 70.961 respectively) I do have these colors in my stash, and have thinned them enough to use successfully via airbrush. I'm inclined to use Vallejo Model Air 71.309 Dark Slate Grey and 71.113 IDF Blue / FS 35177) to represent Light Mediterranean Blue. I will probably go with Ammo by Mig or Hataka True Blue matched to FS15102 (for which I can't find a close approximation in Vallejo's Model Air line) to represent Deep Sky.
  3. AML's set is for Spitfire IX SL632 which is well documented as white 26, with many companies issuing 1/72 decals for it. MP-4 in Czech service. Delivered to a maintenance unit in June, 1945 and to the Czechs two months later. I doubt if it ever carried any RAF squadron markings. Written off in 1952, so not in the Burma sale. I did a little on-line research to find that RM747 was a Mk XIV which did make it into Burmese service, but that's another story... I have received the Eduard special boxing, and the booklet which is only in the Czech language. I may need someone to translate the caption for A-717 My plans have become more grandiose I plan to do MH750 in Polish 308 markings, and A-717; SL628 in speculative RAF insignia with HL personal codes; then in well-documented Czech markings HL-M4 One or the other became Virginia XII in spurious Yugoslav markings for Velveta II, then 25 and UB433 On the back burner TE515 in overall aluminum, probably will choose Czech markings. Maybe follow up with ML119 here: https://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php/109452-The-changing-face-of-ML119 One can never have too many Spitfires
  4. Thanks so much for your reply and links. I have ordered the Eduard Nasi Se Vraceji set, and may have to do the aluminum finish, at a minimum. I would miss out on the Yugoslav markings, though, since TE515 was delivered by sea, rather than flown via Yugoslavia I will probably stick to MH750 for which I have good photographic evidence as ZF-A in RAF 308 (Polish) Sqn, A-717 in Czech service, From there I might use generic Yugoslav insignia for Velveta II, Israeli-25 "Virginia" and Burma UB433. I have plenty of Spitfire kits and decals.
  5. I would like to pick a subject and build four examples of it from RAF-Czech-Israeli-Burma. I started my research with MH750. My project has stalled, as I have come across conflicting information on the Internet. AEROFLIGHT states it became Israeli 2010 in Velveeta II, then 25, then to Burma as UB 433 Warbird Registry states it's Israeli registration was 2043 which became UB424, transferred to Duxford in 2002. To confound matters further, it may have been repainted for display as UB425 Eduard Velveeta kit instructions says 2010/25 is RAF Ex-SL628 Eduard offers another Burmese marking UB441 RAF Ex-ML119 in their NASI SE VRACE boxing. DK decals are available for JX-B of 1 Sqn, but I would have to speculate on markings for A-719 and IDF 2020 Needless to say, I am stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated
  6. (SIGH) my copy of Shell Wings just arrived and I was going to post exactly the above. A few interesting tidbits of information regarding Bader, and illustrations, mostly in B & W
  7. Looks like I need to do my Croc model as G-AMGF flown by Bader in 1951, prior to the upgrade. Would not require extra work on the nacelles, and tail. Overall cream with crimson trim, as per the later photo above, thank you very much. I am a little disappointed in that the Shell colors would be much more flashy. I have ordered a cheap used copy of the book "Winged Shell: Oil Company Aviators, 1927-87" but now I don't see investing in the Air Britain Book, if Bader's name is not mentioned in connection with G-AKHG. I am now unconvinced that Bader ever flew G-AKHG.
  8. I have on my project list a 1/72 Croc models Gemini which I plan to build as G-AKHZ reportedly flown by Bader. The airframe is said to be awaiting restoration at Hooton Park. B & W photographs suggest a white upper fuselage, with my best educated guess, yellow overall with red trim and registration. I would appreciate any replies which might help in this regard, thanks
  9. I would like to do a BP Balliol in blue as a what-if Admiral's barge. Even better if someone has beat me to it! Any evidence of any Balliol in civil or military overall blue?
  10. Found it in the Heller Weapons set -pictures here: http://fighters.forumactif.com/t16139-armement-f-us-otan-1-72-ref-80510-heller Thanks to all. I actually have two of the Heller sets, to load out the Hobby Boss Jaguar A with four Belouga's I used dumb bombs for the Italeri kit. I will probably display the Hobby Boss kit in flight, since the canopy and air brakes are molded shut.
  11. I built the Italeri 1/72 Jaguar a kit years ago, robbed another forgotten kit for the bomb racks. I'd like to have another go with the Hobby Boss kit, but can't for the life of me remember where I got said items. I've looked at online sprue shots for Mirage F-1, Rafael, Super Etendard, Mirage 2000. Any help greatly appreciated.
  12. Thanks to all. Desert scheme it will be then. I couldn't find any wing root details in Monforton, save one of a gun camera in the starboard root of an Mk XVI with a caption that gun cameras in the F Mk.IX were in the port wing root.
  13. Spitfire IX EN290 V-G Former 126 Sq attached to 1435 Flight (Sqn) in which he claimed a Bf 109 on 10 July 1943. My best guess early model with large cannon fairings, small chin radiator, round rudder, standard wing tips and Day Fighter camo (acknowledging the possibility of Temperate Land upper with Azure undersurfaces, vs. Desert scheme.) overpainted sky tailband, no leading edge yellow stripes, white codes G-V on port, V-G on starboard. Any comments?
  14. I had pre-ordered Tiger Moth Kit # 73081 from Hannants, which they now say is cancelled. I really like the French scheme which wasn't available in your previous offerings. Is there any chance of getting this kit, or at least the decal sheet?
