  1. Repent! Repent! or ye shall all burn in the fires of Hell!!! Oh all right, I've been a good boy, Honest! I haven't bought a model in about two month now, and I've actually decided to sell about half the stash!! Ie I decided do I really need two or more of every kit? I'm coming down from 160+ 1/48 kits, to about 80, even at a build rate of 8 a year, that ten years without buying another kit, so for now I'm buying a few decals, and having a treat for me and the family, and I still have the cream of my models too. (even bought/built myself a new computer!) Dave
  2. So long as you don't get caught for duty and handling fees, RM charge £13 per item to recover Vat so 6% on £20 is 1.20 and £13 to RM making £22 cost you nearly £38 As the missus said, you can ask what you like price wise, it doesn't mean it will sell. there is a major wealth of second hand kits available in the UK, to not have to buy new ones, and if the kits stop selling Hasegawa will soon drop there prices! Dave
  3. yes but what was the model shop retail price, more than £87 I bet, for 13 items ? ie 1/48 PR9, were 1p and nearly £4.00 postage, a bargain all the same!!! looked now seem to be all gone.
  4. I was planning to do this very conversion with a part started Monogram GR1 and cross kit it with a Airfix GR3 but then I got this one cheap, for a reasonable price, you might what to retract that statement, No I paid a lot less than this for mine, but this was the last one through Ebay!!! Eck Ouch http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Monogram-1-48-Ha...=item256b08b035 the one before that, made £26+ (which looks like the buyer at £26 didn't complete, bet he's kicking himself now, after the relist sold for nearly 3 times his winning bid. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Monogram-1-48-Ha...=item256aa5b1a6 Dave
  5. Nice review Mike This kit is on my shopping list for Modelkraft, dispite having two, I would love another Couple in the stash. I wonder how many olderF2a/F6 kits will be about now this has been re-released. Dave
  6. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.p...9&hl=jaguar looks close enough for me!
  7. All new tool could mean, a lot of error. Any chance this could be a reworking of the ESCI bird, which stands up as good as the Airfix kit. ie that would be a new tool to Italera Dave
  8. Like has been said many a time before, NEVER use Museum aircraft for reference (if you can find better) use that. Museum often work/repaint with poetic Licence!!! Dave
  9. I seem to remember on the 1/48 Airfix kit the stripes butt up to, but not under the roundal decals. ie they give the impression of going under, without doing so
  10. changes were also made to the JAFO area, I do remember that, ie the back seat console/IP was changed on the EF3 and on this kit that was part of the top fuselage plate and all molded in one so this was part of the reason why the rework was done. ie this is the two different bits, coming together, the back seater box, is much highter on the new part! NOTE the top bit is at least 2mm bigger at the nose, as mentioned above! Doh!!! Shocking re-work Dave
  11. Sorry Simon, (i've stopped laughing now! Honest!) the kit you have is the old F3 kit upgraded This is the old boxing of the kit, before the rework was done by the old school of fools http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AIRFIX-1-48-SCAL...=item35b8ead095 , ie the EF3 has a new top fuselage plate, which as you have noted doesn't match anything else in the kit. Bill is correct both the F3 and GR1 tails are in all (if not most) Airfix tornado kits a Godsend if you have an italeri F3 kit, because the airfix tail is better and more correct if I remember correctly. basically I had an old F3 kit, and it was okay, the EF3 is dire, and I think Airfix should be tied to a post and shot for such a shoddy kit, sadly it's what Hornby inheritted from the old school, and is a prime example of why Airfix went bust, ie raised and engraved panel lines in the same kit, not only that, but I believe the top is now slightly bigger after the rework. ie the EF3 I had, was relisted on Ebay the very same day it was recieved, ie I removed the hindenburgs, and relisted it cheap, and had a very luck escape, and it so bad, that why I have 4 of these now. However I will admit to having 4 airfix GR tornados, Ie GR1a, GR1B, and 2 GR4/4A kits, (remember what I said about the tails ) also there much better than the EF3 kit. Dave
  12. Sadly Mish, it was not clear they were that bad, until cut from the sprues, ie once release, then all became clear, (and bent!) I think claping would work with most, but if you look on mine the bend on one wing tip, they both bend down and thats going to show. ho hum, oh for a simple build. Dave
  13. Hannah nice to see another new face. Yes peeps the wings really are that bad, I have ordered replacement bits, but I will try clamping these ones, ie this is not the worse warp I have fixed, is it mish (arii Zero bent to almost 90 degrees!) Sadly I'm on nights tonight, so I will be asleep all day tomorrow, but I hope to get black paint on the cockpit, IP's and side walls. As I will be working tomorrow night as well, I'm not going to be able to do much, (but it will give time for the replacements to arrive!) I'm hoping by the time I surface wednesday afternoon, I'll be ready to put some detail and colour on the IP's seats and dials, so I'm ready to close her up wednesday evening. we will see, if all the T1 black kits are like this I might order reds ones on my airfix token instead then. more soon. Dave
  14. Well at least the cockpit is no as bad. Resin seats in the Airfix Tub, with the IP, in the seats in, and the covers in place your only going to see in to the cockpit if you really look, so I'm happy with what I have decided, after posting this, I'm going to email Airfix for some spare, and see if the wings they send are any better. After dumping half the box of bits in to the spares bin, this is the sum total of parts needed, I was tempted to drop the flaps, but not with these wings Next get the pit and seats painted, and get on to Airfix to replace those wings, wonder if the ones I get back will be any better. So much, for wanting a easy! Build, LOL Dave
  15. I'm begining to wish I did. Selective stashing mate, I only have RAF stuff in the stash now at 1/48 bar Chippy Ho! Chippy being my eldest sons nick name. as you can see I bought some nice kits, and sadly some crap too (Airfix 1/48 hawk!!!) MARK!!! are they normally this bad? Dave
  16. Thanks Mish Well Tea tray of death it is, To cold in the garage without heating. basically this is what I have to work with, until I have finished the garage, and got some heating in there as well so here the starting place. and off we go!!!
  17. Cheers mark, I'm actually looking forward to getting underway on this. the underside is black with the big roundel, So I'm just going to use the decals as is mate. the Canopy marking I have a few idea in my head how to deal with the MDC, but I'm not 100% decided, also as I'm off from wednesday So I might try and get my FG MK1 finished to take to Modelkraft on the 5th too, we will see. I'm not going to Rush the hawk but I am going to try and build it well, but quickly too. Dave
  18. A good tip with spraying white paint is light coat, walk away, come back an hour later or when you know for sure it has dried, and then go again. repeat until you have the depth of white you want, sometime 4 or 5 coats. lots of thin coats work much better that 1 heavy handed one. Also as mark says, use undercoat for any paint, but for sure for white, (I actually prefer to use gray primer for white, then you can see the level you have applied. Also make sure your room is warm, the model is warm and most of all the tin is warm if need be place in warm water, and shake the hell out of it, this way it will atomise better and give a smoother coat, but as above a light coat and build, works the best for white paint. the primer will dry withing 20 minutes, the gloss, can take a day to go off fully in the cold, and again, thin coats dry much quicker too. HTH Dave
  19. haven't built a kit for a while, but I must crack on. so I'm going to have a go at building this, as I already have the decals it maybe a case I need to start on the kitchen table (on the Tea tray of Death) if it really cold in the garage (I have yet to sort out heating in there!) but I'm going to try to do this from start to finish, without issues so I'm not going to make it to complex a build. Sprue pictures and more tomorrow Dave
  20. Bidding and paying are two different things, I did do a search but could not find the item, are you sure it was not a 1/48 scale one, (although it seems one at this scale is back in the pipleine too!) Dave
  21. I think Mr.Marples can do that one on his own 247 (1/72 kits) and 37 (1/48 kits) Suprized he has time to do a 1/48 lightning too. Dave
  22. I know this kit has JP233 in it, not sure about the decals carrying drop markings. Dave
  23. http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=80759 Dave
  24. Very, very nice work, that going to be a stunner. I will get to finish my one soon, but having built one of these http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL1409/6773...9/395895659.jpg the Extra detail in the flaps and slats is awesome, also really nice clean work so far, I will be following this one Lovely start Dave
  25. Also available in Gray! lol Small hold on this today, too cold in the garage and at work in four hours anyway! So I might give the sprues a good wash (I have a feeling these are going to loaded with release oil!, if I could get a second set of seats, I would have built two but as I have only one set to hand I'll use them in the airfix kit. As for the italeri kit, I'll pop the hoods on those two and close the airfix ones with resin seats in, I think I might buy another Airfix kit (well trade some token for another one!) so it evens the numbers up, that will give me six to build in pairs later and this one. as for builds of the seven, the following will apply Red White an Gray training scheme Gray all over (probably the one with the blue fin Camo Ripple I supose I better build a Red Arrow (just the one) and I'll leave one option open for now but I think this build will be this one (as I have the decals) so this is going to be first!
