  1. Nice build Tim How was the build generally, reason I ask is I have a few of these to build now that I have switched down to 1/72 for space. Reason I ask I'm just about to start two of these, one as a 43 Sqn bird, and one as Triple ones black mike. ie http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7003/6721448...d79fb3f44_b.jpg and http://www.milavia.net/airshows/raf-leucha...ars-2011_24.jpg Cheers Dave
  2. did you look hard to the left, and magnify http://moshie.blogspot.com/mars.bmp Dave
  3. As above yes they do. http://www.airfix.com/contact-us/ but be aware the kit must be a current one, they do have some older spares, but don't hold parts from every model they have produce, ie you will find they don't have things for Buccanners, or kits that have been OOP (out of production) a long time Good luck. HTH Dave
  4. Thanks for all the comments guys. the scale is 1/72 and the kit was a nightmare, it fits where it touches, and to build it as I have takes a lot of trimming and manitulating ie it sould be build all wheels well doors open. this was a test build for one I have to do in time, so I wanted to see what the general fit was like, Answer POOR!!! here some more pictures, I will do some of it along side my Corgi TSR-2, but having just decorated the front room also I've got stuff everywhere Dave some of these where before the final tidy up

  6. Just finished this earlier this evening, I may add a wash to the wheels but I'm saying this one is done for now I'll add some more pictures tomorrow Dave
  7. as the Checkerboard is black and white, you only need White decals paper. ie print the black checker boards on white paper then carefully cut out with a steal rule and curved template and very sharp blade. the shape should not be difficult to cut, the badges on 048001 are not to bad if I remember, however to be honest the sheet is not that bad, and the phantoms where alway worked hard, and dirty, so on a well weather bird, the Xtradecal sheet should be fine, if you can find alternatives. Dave
  8. this is my current build, basically I'm looking to build a dio of one of these (with all the extra, ie wheel wells, airbrakes, cans, cockpit ie the full works!) , so rather than do that and enter a realm I've never entered before I though I would throw a basic kit together first and see how it goes. Basically the kit is a real Jigsaw, that seem to fit where it touches, and in this one I've just fitted a pavla cockpit to see how it goes together and found out it needs a lot of thining around the IP's as well as the body (so I know that for next time!) I had planned to do this project (the Dio) at 1/48 but it was far to big, so I've had to come down to 1/72 for this project So anyway I've got several kits to build in various what if guises, this is probably the first of four, or five, I'll probably do two or three, before adding the resin for the main one, my thanks go out to a certain person for there help in helping me most of the resin I needed for the main project, (you know who you are, and thank you!) I will be doing at least one in service (armed build) but this one is just a throw together to get a feel for the kit, so it will be a bit rapid! (hopefully) the build so far, more to come soon. Dave
  9. Just found this thread, so I have posted before I'dd do a then and now and update it a little later too So as it was a few weeks ago. latest picture to follow soon today Update Dave
  10. I'd second the General, I think Ian would be the first to admit he has a lot of work in progress, but both are worth canditates, as is martinwith his stunning TSR-2 Dave
  11. Hi John I've got one I built about 10 years ago, it's sat on top of the wardrobe every since (I think the front wheel is now gone to the great scrap yard in the sky) but other than that it all there. I've got 3 corgi ones now, much easier to display at 1/144 only thing is john, it would not be a cheap send, due to the size of it, so you might be better of finding a cheap kit, but it there is it helps, just looking for postage on it. but it will be a hell of a box Dave
  12. The F22/24 kit at 1/48 scale is not a hard kit to find, lots of them out there available from dealers, and not greatly fought over on ebay (ie cost £10 to £15) no more than it would retail for http://www.ebay.co.uk/csc/i.html?_nkw=airf...d=p3286.c0.m283 As for building it, it builds like a dream and I've built it twice, the only minor issue is where the bottom wing plate meets the fuselage, there is sometimes a gap, however on my silver one, (which was wrecked by airfix's C@@p varnish batch) I remember using no filler at all!!!! ie it fitted like a glove My F24 M F22 which was really beautiful NMF finished until varnished (i've never use Airfix varnish again since) Dave
  13. HAve you not seen some of the US aircraft, where the navigator crew, do not have a room with a view!!! it not uncommon, ie Vulcan, Victor, Hustler, etc US vigilante Dave
  14. the culprit is humbrol's varnish Some tin's the older ones with the spitfire on especially are know to have issues, it's a reaction between the paint and the thinners/propelant in the can, and I speak from experence here. ie the silver spitfire was a beautiful NMF finish until I used humbrol varnish basically humbrol varnish, no thanks I like my models Dave
  15. Sadly not Si, I bought a load of lightning (4) from a seller on the board, and I have picked up a T5 resin kit too so I now have a F1a, F3, 2 x F6, as well as the T4 and T5. However this is part of a build I'm doing for Telford, so I will be cracking on soon I've got a few more bits to get for the build yet! Dave
  16. Well I've finally got back in the swing of modelling for a while and i'm trying somethings I've not really done before, ie vac, and resin. The T4 is for a project I have in my head, and have done for years, I was going to do it at 1/48 but it would have been just two big. so I've steped down to 1/72. the Avro 707c is just a challenge, I've built only one vac before and never finished it, so both are new types of modelling to me, so lets see how far I get. Lightning T4, ignore the decals, I have others in mind (a lot of cutting and cleaning so far!) and the vac, Avro 707c with a lot of work to do still Dave
  17. Aconcagua do a F4 conversion set http://www.armorama.com/modules.php?op=mod...3559&page=1 http://www.aconcaguamodels.com.ar/contacto.php HTH Dave
  18. Gez, not been there for years, didn't know it was still going! I think the lightning sales have taken Airfix by suprize, but I think what bill said applies too Dave
  19. Thanks for the info I do have a reccy pack but I dout I will use it now. Dave
  20. No tongues! Now no your luck I'm still sorting my stash, ie coming down to a reasonable amount to build, ie 1 of each item two of each in some cases, the bucks are right by my side, so hence I know I have all I need and this spare, so your welcome to it. It will probably be in the post tuesday morning Dave
  21. it the whole sprue from the kit mate, ie Belly tank Gulf war wing tips winder pylons an/alq 101 & pave spike Dave
  22. Yep, but my point was if you used one of those, you don't need the bulged bay door. From what I can see the main different is the wingtip ie the RN ones are the same on the S2B unless your doing a Gulf war bird, then there different, I seem to have two RN kits myself, but with the RAF sprue included two, I don't seem to have the gulf war wingtips. However luck for you buddy I have two RAF sprues and only need the one, so that will save you some hastle (are I just found the Gulf war wing edging there on there two. I've only got two buck left now, onw to do a RAF camo bird, and one to do A RN one, so the RAF sprue is spare and yours mate, PM me your address Dave
  23. Except when the reccy pos was in place, a simple solution to the problem mark! http://www.heritageaviationmodelsltd.com/b...e-pod-126-p.asp I'm pretty sure the other bits needed are in the kit, just the RN one doesn't have the RAF weapons, let me have a look I believe I have a few spares after my clear out, Dave
  24. This will help show the differences. Ie I was going to cross kit this, until I found a unstarted monogram kit as well (dark gray is the monogram GR1) Sadly this mongram kit still comands a price on evilbay now but this guy must have been on the falling over water, to have paid £67. (average is £15 to £25) depending on the demand) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Monogram-1-48-Ha...=item256b08b035 Dave
