Indeed!! I have the Teutonic Luchs Mk.88 and sprues "K" do indeed hold parts for the inflatable seats! Just checked today, it never occurred to me that the other boxing might contain parts that are that relevant for this boxing! Brilliant tip, cheers! Thanks Sticky! Very useful info! I'm leaning very much to doing ZD250 now. I would prefer a "bland" Lynx, though. I'll have to search for my photos of the Lynx that was at Telford in 2012, I have no idea if that was a Lynx from your sqn and if it was a dual or not. I made enough pics of it however, so I'll see! Thanks for your info!! Cheers, Erik.

Thanks Ex-FAAWAFU, your answer helps me a lot! I'll have a look around for the air cushion! Cheers, Erik.

Gents, I have the 1/32 Revell Lynx HAS.3. Can anybody help me out in regards to the HAS.3 ICE off HMS Endurance with the: - cockpit configuration (double controls and instruments or single controls and observer instruments and display?) - main cabin of the HAS.3 ICE as it was based on HMS Endurance? I have seen mentioned that it was fitted with instruments and cameras? Display scheme NAS 702; XZ 250: - Did this a/c have a cockpit with double controls AND double instrumentation? That's what Eduard supplies... - I understand that the RN uses inflatable seats. I would think this means that the rod-and-canvas benches as supplied by Revell are definitely not correct? So, lacking these inflatable seats, should I keep the cabin bare as bones? I ran some Google searches but what I came up with is quite inconclusive... Thanks in advance! Erik B.

Hi Tom, would it be possible / good looking NOT to glue the canopy / radio compartment decking down, so it can be shown either without it installed to give a good view of the cockpit and radio compartment, or with it installed without a seam? Can the wings be left unglued to facilitate storage? As I've written on LSM; a VERY nice build! Cheers, Erik. -
1/48 Heinkel He 111 H22 Update 25-03-2013

hehehe, I'm just pulling your leg about those two cables behind the fuselage half in the pic. As if those two cables lead from the antenna wire into the fuselage. -

Ey Arnie, aren't those antenna lead-ins somewhat too heavy? Seriously, good work, mate! Cheers, Erik -
Interestingly enough, the tail issues are not because Trumpeter took the Chengdu J-7 as an example...! Look at this link: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=234918494 Gabor and all the other MiGistrates; please keep sharing the inaccuracies of this kit with us! I'm 95% sure I'll buy the kit this weekend, so I really would like to have the picture complete as to what I have to change! Cheers, mates!
-
Hi Gabor, That's quite okay. Call out and show the inaccuracies, then I can decide 1. if I still want to buy the kit, 2. if I'll remedy or ignore them and 3. work out how to remedy them! So I'm waiting with pen and paper in hand for the complete list! Cheers, Erik.

Hello everybody, I've posted mainly in the Cold War and Modern sections of the forums 'till now, so maybe you haven't seen my log-in name yet... I plan on building the one Sopwith Pup that was used by the Dutch Army Air Corps during WW1. It was N6164 of No. 9 Sqn RNAS that made an emergency landing at Cadzand on March 1st, 1917 with Sub.Lt. F. Branford as pilot. The pilot and aircraft were interned. After repairs, the Pup was bought in December 1917 from the UK for the price of 1700 GBP. The questions regarding this aircraft are: - On the 2 photos I've seen of the Pup it seems that the linen of the upper wing's centre section was replaced with some kind of translucent film like on this one/replica: Was there really a type of film available in those days to use as "see-through"-linen or was the linen simply removed to give the pilot a better view "12 o' clock high"? - What color did No. 9 Sqn RNAS use on it's cowlings? I see that No. 3 Sqn RNAS used a lot of red and black. Was that squadron-related, flight-related or pilot-related? Were there any regulations to begin with? - The propeller. From the color it would seem that the propeller was made from one piece of wood... I'd think that would make the propeller less strong? Was the propeller made up of laminated wood? Was it covered with linen or another type of textile and painted/doped brown afterwards? Thanks in advance for your insights! Cheers, Erik.

Johns, thank you both for your input! Cheers, Erik.

Hi guy's, Just bought Airfix' 1/48 Canberra PR.9 on an impulse. I also bought Pavla's navigator- and pilot's seat. It seems that the pilot's seat is incorrect for a later PR.9 though. In the 80's and 90's they flew with the Martin Baker Mk.3CS for the pilot. Does anybody have an idea if there are 1/48 Martin Baker's Mk.3CS around? The CMK attempt isn't correct as far as I can see. Otherwise I think I can best convert a Hasegawa Mk.7 Phantom seat? It seems that the Mk.3CS has a soft parachute-pack, no metal parachute holder in the back and a small headrest beneath the double ejection handles? Thanks inadvance, Erik.

Hi Grizzly, AFAIK Modeldecal only made 1/72 sheets? Would this be right for an 1/48 Wessex? http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/X48044 Cheers, Erik.

Dave & Dave, thank you very much!

Hi guys, I just obtained a Hasegawa Harrier GR.5. Can I fit a GR.7 cockpit set into it without too much howls of indignation or laughter? Of course the GR.7 has some different and extended systems but would that be visible aside from some switchology and more / different possibilities in the menus on the MFD's? Cheers, Erik.

Revell's new 1:32 Lynx - includes some HMA8 parts
ErikB replied to Iain Ogilvie's topic in Aircraft Modern
It will be. I've ordered one from Hannants who have them in stock. If you give as delivery adress "Collect form Telford Show" you get a 10% discount. Cheers, Erik. -
Okay, so XV719 may have been a HC.2, but this one wàs one of the HU.5's used for some time by the RAF.
-
Thanks for your answers, chaps! So the Cyprus RAF Rescue option is out because it was actually a HC.2, and this one is out because the decals are just not accurate.... That really is a pity since those two schemes caught my fancy.... Nothing yet from Xtradecal or Model Alliance or such, yet?
-
Hi Pat, Timeframe given by Italeri is 1987. Cheers, Erik.
-
Hi friends, Maybe you can help me out. One of the schemes in Italeri's Wessex HU.5 kit is XT461 of 771 Sqn, RNAS Culdrose. I'm not sure what red to use; would that be Xtracolour X14; BS537 Red Arrows (Signal) Red or X31; BS538 Post-Office Red? I have been told that BS537 is too orangey but looking at photos, the red is sometimes orangey, sometimes quite "hard" red. Photo found on Flickr, taken by Stephen Rendle. BringBackEGDG Thanks! Erik.

Hi amason, It might be wise to keep an eye out for when this sheet hits the streets: http://ultra.glo.be/daco/KAst13.html Cheers, Erik.

Hehehehe, I have a book written in the '70s or '80s bij a Dutch Marine Lt.Col. on Dutch Marines. How they (very much tongue in cheek) look at the other services and how poorly mistaken all the others are with their misled outlook on the Dutch Marine Corps! Since the Royal Marines and the Dutch Marine Corps (did) train quite a lot together I wouldn't be surprised that more than a few of their outlook on life is shared! The book was a good laugh!

Hi Simon, Thanks for your reply! Please don't take my little reasoning exercise as being meant to belittle your experience! I didn't even know you work(ed) on them. It struck me as odd to have the blades hang forward on their drag dampers if the rotorhead was mounted fully horizontal. Well, that "fully horizontal" was my flawed assumption! And you know what they say about assumption.....* Since Smudge and you have now confirmed that the gearbox + rotorhead was mounted with a forward tilt, I'll build my Wessex with the blades forward too! And Perdu will probably be happy too that his builds are accurate! Cheers, Erik. * "Assumption is the mother of all F*ck-ups!"
