  1. I have a landline. I am sufifcently insular that I don't need a mobile to talk to anyone else, so hence no photos. Brilliant kit, though. I just need to find out what colour the various inside gizards are painted.
  2. Hi there, This arrived today and, quite frankly, took my breath away. Upon close inspection, it is the most super-detailed kit that I have come across. My problem is what happens next. The assembly instructions totally match the kit, but how to paint all of the internal features, which are complete, is a mystery.
  3. The Reds carry their unit badge on the port side and the Central Flying School crest to starboard..
  4. I thought that the "Northolt night shot" was extremely clever and original. Well done.
  5. "Air War Over the Western Front" was originally intended to appear in at least two volumes and possibly three. Guess who spent three months doing the drawings. Guess who hasn't been paid.
  6. Top job. Absolutely lovely. I did 12 years in the merchant navy as a deck officer / hydrographic surveyor and I have never built a ship model since, because I understand the amount of detail that is involved that I simply can't create in small scale. If a ship model looks "right" at eyelevel, as if you see from another ship at sea, it is right Yours is..
  7. Treated myself to a copy of Bob's new book, which arrived this morning. I've only finger-dipped into the text so far, but the content is inspirational. Fifteen quid extremely well spent.
  8. I bought mine at college in Liverpool in 1985. The softback IJAAF book has a colour chart insert before the flyleaf. The hardback IJNAF book has a colour section about 2/3rds the way into the book, with some colour squares on pages 129-130. Neither books are particularly good with colour rendition, in that it fades across the page. Normally I never deface a book, but both of my copies are defaced with FS numbers for each colour. Don't know why, but I obviously needed something 26 years' ago. If you can get your hands on any of the Modelart JAAF / IJNNAF books of that vintage, they all seem to have a generous supply of colour chips within.
  9. Highly imaginative, very clever and very well portrayed. Lovely paint finish, too. Thankyou, I really enjoyed your post.
  10. I just wonder whether these photos are not off somebody's diorama and they are a bit of a spoof, what with the lack of depth-of-field on the trees.
  11. Hopefully these are the bits you want: Regards - Peter.
  12. There is no drawing in the Kagero book, but the photo in my copy is slightly darker than the JaPo pic. The top of what I think is the number 1 cuts into the dark upper camouflage and is just forwards of the boarding ladder. The triangle of the number 4 is slightly darker than the local area, but the rest of the lower part of the number is washed-out into the fuselage colour. The visible parts of both figures fit proportionately to the fuselage cross, which is why I suggest that this machine is white 14.
  13. In "Aircraft of the Fighting Powers vol7", the Brigand plan view has a definite kink forwards of the trailing edge of the outer wing section of about 1 degree. Their plans have had some criticism over the years, but whose haven't. They were among the best available when they came out in 1947.
  14. " Serial is 212133, part of the fourth production batch from FW's Cottbus facility (212101-212170). Tactical markings consist only of a plain white "1." " I've just had a look at this picture in the Japo book and, with the book lying slanted on my knee, it looks more like white 14. I've tried the same trick on the same photo in the Kagero "FW190 vol 4" with the same result, only more so.
  15. Ian, Had a thought about the fitting of the MDC decals (not that I have any of my own, having binned the sheet by mistake). If they were cut in half along the fore-and-aft line, theoretically they should conform to the canopy better in 3-D.
  16. You think you've got problems. The week before last, in a rather feable attempt to tidy up my flat, I put out the kit's box along with all the rest of my recycleables. Sadly, it contained both the instructions and the transfers. Now, I'm rather stumped about how to complete the cockpit, let alone build the rest of the kit.
  17. Dear Sir, Over the years, I have spent many hours of my life sitting in hot baths, sanding off the despised rivets on Airfix kits, with only a sheet of wet-and-dry sandpaper and a couple of tins of beer for company. I believe that the innumerable amount of irremovable high-tide marks that I have had to endure, on both me and my bath, speaks volumes for my dedication to our hobby. And now, Sir, what do I find ? Fellow modellers of the highest esteem actually advocating adding rivets .............. Yours, etc .........
  18. Here is a marginally better view of the intake, showing the relationship of it and the strobe to the panel line
  19. Hi there, Hope these help, with much thanks to a guided walkaround by the Reds PR team:
  20. Where do you put the Sidewinders ? Simples. On the centreline, firing aft. That should sort out that blighter, the Hun in the sun.
  21. Here are a few wing root detail shots; followed by some flap shots:
  22. Basosz, there aren't any terrible mistakes in this kit, it is a very good one. Just like any kit, it can benefit from a few enhancements and Guy is showing how to do them. I latched onto this thread when my daughter pointed out the similarities between it and my photo collection, so I have tried to assist in the build. I had a pre-production grey kit (with pylons and Matra pods) and now I have a nice shiney new red one. All I want to do is find out the pitfalls before I make my own. Selfish or what ? Regards - Peter.
  23. Don't get offers like that every day. Ever, actually. The reason that I am posting some piccies is that my small daughter said "You have loads of Red Arrows photos, Daddy. I bet that you can't get Photobucket to work".
  24. Here are some representative seats, both fitted and a demo unit.
  25. Here are some tail area shots: and some cockpit shots :
