Makes you question if QB themselves ever wondered why the two parts (ie Tamiya and Eduard) were so apparently different in shape..
Makes me question what even is the point of calling something "correction" or "upgrade" set, if You are left with same shape error at the end.

Another bid by QB to make a quick buck, resulting in their customers just wasting money...

What colors of other insides (gear bay, gear doors, etc.)
While discussing the J7W1, I'd like to throw in another dilemma - should you see the "guts" (engine, installations, etc) throught the main wheel wells (like on Fw190D for example) or not?
My logic leads me to the second option. It was only a prototype, so a lot had to be left accessible to groundcrews for quick "bug ironing".
Would love to hear other opinions.

right now this is an old MPM kit with old boxart on the new box with Special Hobby logo.
I beg to disagree.
That maybe applies to the "Dutch defender" box.
But "Dutch Patrol" box has significantly more resin goodies inside.

As announced on Scalemates
Announcement says "new parts".
Boxart seem like previous "Dutch Patrol" box.

Looking on the sprues I'm litle nervous about how will landing flaps look like after assembly. There will be unnatura line allover them.
This is a compromise solution, often seen in small-scale production, in order to ensure no mold flaws in this part.
IMHO, it is always easier to address joints that are not parralel to panels (or along the very panels themselves).

BUMP
Some things gone.

Thanks to all for helping me pin down the colors, and at least a smaller scope to search for serials.

Looking at this interesting JRF-5, stationed at NAS Jacksonville in 1941, I can't help but to wonder on couple of things:
- What was the upper color? Azmodel calls for ANA 608 Intermediate blue on upper surfaces
- What was the lower color? Azmodel depicts it as just "Light Grey" on lower surfaces...
- Is there any way to determine the codes on the tail?
Thanks for looking!

Sure hope that 'Cannon Fighter' box also gets upgraded.

Dimensionally speaking, Italeri Marsupiale is almost spot-on to plans from "Ali D' Italia" publication.
One detail I plan to address is the fabric effect on the rear fuselage.
Should be ribs, but given as panel lines.
Pretty easy to correct with some streched sprue, though.
Only thing stopping me from building it is inability to decide which cammo/decal option to choose.

Superb model, as well as photography.
What kind of lighting do You use?

ICM kit is much better than of KP kit. ICM also improved the already good molds a few years back
Agreed, the ICM new-new tool (No. 72243 and 72244) is completely different (and slightly better) than the ICM new-tool (No. 72241 and 72242), which is already fantastic.
One major difference between the tools is that new-new tool correctly represents wartime wing (6 ribs in mid section), while new-tool correctly represents pre-war wing (7 ribs in mid section).

Aleksandar

Beautiful work.
How would You describe the quality of resin (in terms of air holes and defects)?

Bump.
Borrow option added!

Understood. Edited once again.

Based on my previous experience in trading - there is.
I was accused of fraud a couple of times, when the buyer simply failed to read the description and look at the photos before buying.
For example, when selling some finished kits couple months ago, guy was flabbergasted to receive a finished kit, despite it being stated in the add and photo of actual model enclosed. 🤡
Removed the exclamation marks and made letters smaller.

Looking for a white lily ( Lydia Litvyak) Russian Ace
in Aircraft WWII
Posted · Edited by warhawk
Although in Russian language, Полки и самолеты СССР is a great resource, as it tries to collect as much photo material per unit possible.
Looking at their page on 437th IAP, there is no mention of Lydia Litvyak, or even this unit ever using Yaks at all!
However, 586th IAP page (unit with which she mostly flew) does seem to show a "08" (?) attributed to her.
