  7. Looks like a well engineered piece of kit,and a first rate job on it to boot.
  8. Having got the really very spiffy Ultracast Werner Molders 1/32nd scale figure,I went looking for a 1/32nd Me109F to park behind him, having picked myself up off the floor after seeing the £50.00+ price of the Hasegawa offering and the flaws with the slightly cheaper Trumpeter I noticed that Modelzone were selling the positively ancient Revell Me109F for £9.99,so decided to have a go at "kit bashing" it and trying to see if I could make a credible replica, apart from a MDC replacement spinner and exhausts that I had hanging around, I intended not to use any other after-market stuff, hence the title of MODELLING THE FRIEDRICH ON A BUDGET,A TIGHT GITS JOURNEY INTO PLASTIC HELL. Here we see the kit and various reference works Here we see what needs removing or adding, the wings had two large bulges that I filled with milliput prior to sanding flush. Also this prehistoric kit has a frankly unfathomable step in the lower nose,so that will need filling and sanding flush Sanded down and work begins on boxing in the wheel wells prior to this I glued a small piece of plastic card into the squared of wheels then trimmed to create rounded wheel wells,I cut up the kit supplied cockpit parts and used what i could for the interior, the rest is plastic card and wire The control surfaces had no detail at all,so I sanded them down and using a template I cut details from clear plastic from a milk carton,Then glued these on and filled with putty and sanded added gun troughs(used metal foil from a wine bottle) and the air intake weld seam, fixed the resin exhausts and virtually scratch built the entire cockpit Fuselage is about 4mm to short so added a plug of plastic card to lengthen it. Used the spare cockpit panel which came with one of my Me109K kits as it was not needed for the K added the pilots storage hatch, and sanded the fuselage flush The Revell re-boxing of the Hasegawa Me109K also supplied the props,as again they are not needed on the K,And here she is,all primed up and nearly ready, oil filter housing has been filled and sanded to give a more correct profile. The Saga continues,Cheers for Looking!
