I started building kits when I was 9, and my first was Revell's Hawker Tempest. I built dozens of aircraft then tried my first ship model, and I was sold. I built just about every Airfix warship kit from series one upwards, best being HMS Hood when I was 15. It had pride of place in our display cabinet.

After a long lay off due to work, I started building ships again in 2005. Usually, I build 3-4 a year in 700 scale, and recently have started building 1200 scale models because my work does not leave me much spare time. I am not a great modeller, but always try to build the next one better than the last.
