  3. Hi Johnny, I notice that you have put the "intakes" on the wings. I've got a note in my Tamiya Lanc instructions that those aren't intakes but exhausts. Parts B61 should have the open end facing rearwards. If you've got the Haynes book, have a look at the picture on pages 36/37 which shows how they should be orientated. Hope you can change them okay.   4. Hi Gordon and Stephen, I've just received my kit today. The markings are as follows: 1. 3./KG26 Norway, Summer 1941, 1H+HL 2. Stab I/KG26, Bardufoss, Norway, July 1942, 1H+BB 3. 8./KG53, Poland, June 1941, A1+NS 4. 7./KG27, Russia, November 1941, 1G+ER. All are in the standard RLM 70/71 colours except 4 which is white.   5. Hi Chris and Dave, I've been following this thread as I've got the same problem with this kit. I have bought a 25mm M4 and a 20mm M2 Rabosech blade but found the base on both was too wide where it would fit to the kit. In Chris' picture above it shows that the base of the propeller is smaller where it comes out the back of the x-craft. Part of me wonders whether to try filing the propeller to fit or even trying to make a propeller out of plasticard. The latter idea is out of my comfort zone to be honest. I do hope someone can found a solution. Regards, Paul

Hi Clarkey, According to a book, Dinghy Drop by Tom Docherty, there was nothing on the British side until January 1941 when an Air Sea Rescue Directorate was set up under the control of Coastal Command. Originally, the ASR services included ASR aircraft, RAF and RN high speed launches (HSL). The services only operated out to 20 miles and relied on the HSLs and a small number of Lysanders which had dinghy packs on their bomb racks. By May 1941 there were for squadrons of Lysanders, nos 275, 276,277 and 278. By July 1941 Walruses began to be used. Longer range services began around November 1941 with 279 and 280 squadrons. They were equipped with Huson MkIII. 279's Hudsons were equipped with dinghies that could be dropped to downed airmen. I hope that is of some use to you. Regards, Paul

  10. Hi Pete I've just been looking through Hugh Verity's book about the SD Lysanders. It doesn't say anything about the cockpit colours unfortunately. However, as far as I'm aware the cockpit was the standard grey green and doped fabric. The Lysander at Duxford is supposed to be an original SD. There are some pictures on www.airliners.net and in one of them you can see the cockpit is painted grey green. It appears that aircraft has been restored so, hopefully, the colours are correct. However, finding info on these aircraft is difficult, as I've found out in the past! I hope that helps you. Paul
  11. Great model. It brings back memories of a modelling club at Junior School when one of the boys made one. Somehow, as we were only 10 at the time, it was no where as good as your one Starfighter but we were happy! Hands up all those who stayed up and saw the landing in the middle of the night! Paul
  12. Andy, The last I heard was that it was due out in the 3rd quarter of this year. I have asked at my LMS but, apparantly, their Italeri rep doesn't know when it's coming out. Let's just hope it's soon! Paul
  13. Back again. I agree with Graham that a model should be built as you want. Triumph, if you want to why not keep the "gunner" and just repaint him and he could be another agent being picked up. There again, keep it as it is and anyone who sees it won't know, unless they've studied the subject. I'm only aware as I was going to do the Revell 1/32 scale Lizzie as an SD. By the way, the aircraft weren't always overall black. The pilot's found that the aircraft were easier for the nightfighters to spot them in overall black. They repainted the upper wings and upper fueslage in normal grey/green camouflage. As I remember the Shuttleworth Lizzie and the one in Belgium have both been done as overall black.   14. In answer to Fatalbert's question, I can confirm that the Lysanders did not have a rear gunner. In Hugh Verity's book, "We landed by moonlight" he mentions that the stub wings that were attached to the spats were removed, along with the gun mounting and "other equipment". Later in the book, further details are given by Peter Proctor from Westlands. The propellor came from a Blenheim, as it helped increase the range by 12.5%. The original radio set 1133/1134 was replaced by the 1154/1155. In addition, the floor was extended so that up to 4 passengers could be carried in the rear cockpit. I also understand there was a bench seat in the rear cockpit as well. Hope that helps. Regards, Paul
