Hi my name is Ian and I have returned to modelling late last year after being away from the hobby for about 10 years.
I have been to a couple of shows this year, Salisbury, Poole and aim to attend Scale Model World in Telford.
I joined this site today and have had a good look around and contributed to a couple of posts but I would like to say that I am disappointed that a few members seem to be very rude and vocal about some UK manufactures and subject, often joining in on a band wagon and creating a really bad feeling on the site which should be a great place to meet and discuss modelling issues.
In my view, some are almost standerous of certain companies that produce some items that no one else in the industry is willing or able to do. I have found this almost incredible that at least two members are still allowed to use the site after this.
It has also assonished me that they have the right to criticize when it is not their money involved. I am just so glad the British Companies are producing some of the best stuff on the market and which we reminds me of the saying, 'we've never had it so good!' springs to mind.
Well done Xtrakit, Model Alliance, A2Zee, Freightdog etc. Keep the good work up and producing stuff that we want. I know you dont always get it right but I do know that you are trying to improve things.
I looked at producing some stuff about 3 months ago and could not believe the cost involved. Just one decal sheet would have set me back around £3,000 before I started. God alone knows what Xtradecal and Model Alliance have invested in you the modeller!
Instead of slanging these companies off, I think we should be congratulating them all.
Lasly, whilst I have been shocked and some of what I have read, some things have been extremely good and well researched with some good debates and some great modelling.
Regards
Ian
