Lovely work Bill. I built my version of that car but missed the vee shaped outlet for the radiator. Your screen at the carburetor is an excellent little detail that I'll steal for my next build. I began a project around a dozen years ago and had built half of the '66 LeMans factory team before I lost steam. I've restarted that project recently and found an amazing amount of new pics and data on the 'net. Those four builds have now been disassembled to repaint the interiors blue and add heat shielding blankets behind the seats. I'm reading Go Like Hell by A.J. Baime which is an excellent book on the Ford LeMans program. Here's an interesting link; http://www.raredrive.com/gt40/

I have that kit in front of me so I know just how small that amazing detail is. Excellent work John, I'm researching US PT RON 34. 80 ft Elco boats in USN grey scheme they were used for minesweeper escort, e-boat interdiction and a picket line around the channel islands. They used an airfoil shaped wind deflector over the bridge. I'm still looking for decent pics of that. Your great work has started me on this deep dive and I'm enjoying the ride, -

Screech?!? If that's what it does to your brail cells I'll have to pass. Good to see progress here. I would love to see Newfoundland someday. -
Thanks Bill. It started with a purchase of a photo book of the Sebring 66 race to research GT40s. There were many pics of the Chapparal coupe so I pulled out the old Daytona raced coupe and started cutting away at the rear body. Once the fins were removed and the back end was roughed in the rest came fairly easy. I used Micro-balloons and super glue for building up the contours so I was able to work at a good pace, It really could use an update, especially the front lights which you did a great job on.

Lovely pair of Chapparals! Always one of my favorite teams. I really should go back and add to my collection. I have that 2D coupe and the Modellers 2D Nurburgring winner awaiting my attention. I did mod the Daytona coupe version into the Sebring coupe. It's not to your standards but I would like to see your take on that project.

Another 1/200 H.M.S. Hood with Pontos Detail Set

I sense a disturbance in the Force. When I saw the size of that dust cover I had a vision of it getting loose while you're trying maneuver it over the superstructure. I hope you have a gust free work shop and a handy first mate. -

a project so big you had to create an ocean to display it on. -

I've been accused of being a little dinghy but not as exceptional as that one. -

Looks very good John and a bit inspiring. I have a PT-109 in the display case in South Pacific green will start on a grey boat soon. I'll be quiet and just peek over your shoulder as you finish this beauty. -

The best modelers are their own harshest critic. I am loving every bit of this build -
Thank you Elger. Lots to think about in Jumpei Temma's build. I will have to get an extra set of stacks to add the extra stack to each side. Since losing vision in my right eye the drilling out of kit exhausts has become too much of an adventure.
-
I thought that might be the case. Thank you for the confirmation.
-
I'm about to start a 1:48 Mk.XVI Mosquito and I have a couple of questions about exhaust stacks. From my research it appears that the Mk.XVIs have six stacks on each side of the engines and the earlier Mk.s have five and are often shrouded. Is this generally correct? Also, have any resin casters offered the six stack set-up for sale? I've yet to find any.

In the holiday season I get time to catch up with the builds that I had missed. It's a delight to see this old war-horse of a kit get some love and you've really done well with it. It looks like it's made the hard hot ride from Oran to Tunisia. Due to it's age some of the detail mouldings are a bit crude but the shape and proportions are pretty close and it's still a worthwhile builder. A small detail; you've used a 50 star flag, perhaps you can change that.

Dolphins and Sharks do not get along well.

I'm enjoying this build. My "Bit O' Lace" build was on a picnic table during a family camping trip in the mid 60's. As I recall, it ran into flak while passing over my sister's head during our trip home.

Well since it's the Radial Engine Group build that is where I started. This is the Revell engine. I had to replace the ignition conduit with some stainless steel wire and I still have to scratchbuild a prop governor to install between the magne

Ooops, forgot that detail. It's the Revell 1:28 scale kit. I had to fix the wings and fuselage per the article by Dr. Mitchell in an old FineScale Modeler magazine.
-
To clear the bench for my P-47 Radial Engines Rock build I've finished this kit. I used an article in FineScale Modeler to correct the wing and fuselage shapes.
-
Their 1/48 kit of that aircraft has an issue with the engine mount being too short. I don't know if it also applies to their 1/72 version but it is something to watch out for.

It would be a good time to do my Heavy Weather Recon mod B-17G so I'm in.

Sometimes a project just gets ahold of me. The original Revell boxing of this had some issues with landing gear and vertical stab. I built it anyway and it never quite looked right. A year later a magazine article described how to fix it and it has been stuck in my head these past 40 years. I purchased a fresh kit and slowly over time added details to the box until I ended up with all of this. So now it's time to see what I can do with it.

So many excellent choices are being posted here. I especially look forward to the seeing what you Hs-123 builders can do. My choice of a 1/32 t-bolt is based on a kit I built nearly 45 years ago that I always new I could have done better so now in my retirement I have a golden opportunity.

I have had a large Jug project percolating in the back of my head for a long time. This seems like an opportune time to push it to the front. I'm in with a Revell 1:32 P-47D-20
