  1. I'm slow in commenting on your work, but I've been returning to it over the past few days to admire the craftsmanship. A superb piece of work, beautifully done. Looking forward to seeing it the mag.
  2. Well............... this is one of their best. I'm just not sure if it's the best. Now there's a topic for debate! The model that gives me the most pleasure every time? The Bristol Bulldog, but there are plenty more!
  3. Hi there. As I've explained in my posting I've been pretty lazy in getting my work onto the forum. Most appears in MIS, though I'll try and get a few recent pics. put on. The Fury's a good one, but so is the Matchbox Siskin if you can get hold of one. Or - in my opinion, a real classic and one of Airfix's best biplanes (before this Swordfish) - the Brstol Bulldog. Plenty of those about, and they're cheap. Haris
  4. Hello everyone. Firstly I'd like to thank Spence for posting the pictures onto the forum. I visit often but now have finally sorted out my long forgotten password so that I can thank you all for your very kind words. My first temptation when reviewing the kit was to say it's posibly one of their best. I don't think it's quite that but it can't be far off, and it is a beauty - and at such a bargain price. It also went together so easily and no-one should be scared of this biplane from a construction angle. I got it done during my spare time over the Christmas holiday (a record for me) - and it was great fun. I was tempted to fiddle with it and replace some of the oversized smaller parts but it is virtually out of the box to show exactly how good it is. The main area for change was the blue used for the HMS Courageous markings (I feel that the kit decal is too dark) and had to be painted, resulting in fiddling with the white numbers. I always go for the silver options but with other Swordfish kits to follow there are going to be great opportunities for some real weather-beaten camouflaged models. I don't think that this will be the only one I build. It's refreshing to think that with so much attention being drawn towards the larger scale biplanes (with good reason), our own dear Airfix are doing so much to breath life into such a popular subject that has long needed an update. It was also nice to rediscover smaller scale models again after a very long time. Best wishes, Haris
  5. Hi Des. Just wanted to complement you on your excellent work here and on the DH2. Can't wait to see how the J.1 turns out having recently had a go myself. It looks great - some very nice work on the engine and convincing interior - pity a lot of it gets lost under that wing! How do you plan to tackle the aileron gap on the upper wing? Good luck and looking forward to seeing more pictures. Haris
  6. Hi Spence. Insane level of detail. Still not impressed until that biplane appears! H
  7. Hi Mike. Mainly things with two wings I suppose, but rarely anything beyond 1960! Motivation has been a bit of a problem recently. I ventured into armour a year or so ago and got a lot out of trying something different - we all should do it! But this Wingnut Wings kit has really got me going again. Looking forward to Rodens' Siemens Schuckert D.III, Eduards' Caproni bomber and virtually anything that Wingnut Wings bring out. I'll post work when it happens! Several projects, virtually dead on the bench at the moment need life breathing into them again. Once again, thanks for the kind words. Haris
  8. Thanks for that. Looking forwrad to seeing the Brisfit. Good luck with that massive engine. Haris
  9. I'm on Britmodeller at last! Rubbish home PC and an inability to follow simple instructions have led to a long delay. Many thanks for all the kind words. Isn't WW1 modelling briiliant?! Wood, metal, fabric, leather - the nearest thing to a piece of furniture with wings. Haris
