  8. Painting on the sprue is quite common especially with aircraft modellers as it allows the part to be held or moved around as required securely. Any edges can be touched up using a small brush and very dilute paint or if it's a large area then masking off or even freehand the use the airbrush on a low pressure setting. If using a brush then several coats may be required. Everyone has their own ways of doing things so you may get different answers from others. Hope that helps. Stay safe Roger
  9. Thanks to everyone who hit the like button and to @edjbartos, @mbthejester, @Bullbasket and @Keeff for the kind comments your time is very much appreciated. After attending the Poole Viking Model Clubs annual show last Saturday I've managed to find a little time for this one by continuing to build up the body, still a long way to go but it is at least looking more like an ambulance now! The plan is to have it finished for the September South West Model Show at Bovington Tank Museum. Anyway here are the pictures Thanks for looking in more soon on this one I hope Stay safe Roger

  15. Sorry to hear you're going to park this one for awhile Wayne. I seem to recall that @Ex-FAAWAFU used stick on rivets on one of his 1/48 Sea King models but I don't know if they are available in 1/24 scale. They were added like a decal/transfer if I remember correctly. Hope to see this back on the bench soon. Stay safe Roger
  16. Another unusual subject from the golden era I will follow along and watch you work your magic! Stay safe Roger
  17. Thinking back to my days at ABRO I was involved for a time with Chieftain AVRE/AVLB overhaul/service and the AVRE's were always loaded on transporters backwards as there blades hit the trailer if going on forwards so I think your right to put your Chieftain on backwards for that reason. Stay safe Roger
  18. That is a very nice display Mark just emphasises the size of the Scammell. Superb workmanship and attention to detail as always with your work Stay safe Roger
  19. That turned out extremely well Simon, just the right amount of weathering IMHO. Looking forward to the next project now Stay safe Roger
  20. Sorry you've side lined the Foxbat Simon but I look forward to watching you work your magic on this one, what's not to like about a Wimpy build. I'll just take a seat in the corner and watch quietly if I may? Stay safe Roger
  21. Thanks to @Spookytooth, @Keeff, @Jasper dog, @Bullbasket and @Ned for the kind comments and to everyone who hit the like button. @Ned I think you may have to fight @Bullbasket for Sylvia Sims though! OK now for a small update as you know I decided to try and paint the red cross markings so I sprayed the relevant areas white then cut masks for the red crosses, then using the sponge technique together with a very old tin of Humbrol insignia red enamel added the crosses. When dry the masks were removed to reveal this Not to bad for a first attempt at this and after a clean up and retouching this is the result which will do for me! The last pics show the cab sat on the chassis to check the effects and fit Thanks for looking in your time is appreciated Stay safe Roger
  22. Nice recovery on the paint scheme Rob Stay safe Roger
