  1. Saw 2 singles and heard probably another 2 going west over Crewe at 0930 and approx half hour intervals. Has training started for the newbies down the valleys?
  2. Hi Chaps Here's my two pennoth. The proototype was fitted with an anti spin parachute which was stowed behind the sliding canopy hood and the balance horns had a metal shield fitted to prevent the parachute lines becoming tangled. The fisrt few production a/c had the shield fitted and incidently asliding dimmer screen in front of the windscreen. Also the very early a/c had flat canopies as opposed to the iconic domed types fitted before the war. Cheers faceman
  3. Everybody knows it was a tractor engne! Well thats what the russians ordered during the cold war.
  4. Let's not forget the Skeeter chaps. faceman
  5. Just realised that I didn't have to bust a gut getting finished for midnight as there is still 24 hours to run. I did need to finish tonight though cos I am away at an air cadet band camp tomorrow and I am still sorting out the music! Thank goodness for Sibelius. Any way here is a couple of pics I took before I reached for the hairy stick. faceman
  6. It's now 23:26 the pics are going into photo bucket and I've still got to resize them! As I have not had the time available that I would have liked , I have not been able to do much more than throw the kit together. I did strech a bit of sprue to fill some gaps, notably in the fin. As a kit, the plastic seems to be a bit soft and the mould is the same as the standard kit so that the canopy top is fitted with the stabilised sight, not used in Advanced rotary wing! also the nose has a hole where the VHF homing aerials would be . Not my best offering but it was fun, even when running out of time Hooray the pics are done Hey! I've got 8 minutes left. Faceman
  7. Hi all To hell with the tiffies, they've grounded the Grob Tutors! No Cadet flying this weekend! faceman
  8. Hi all I thought that I'd already posted my start last week, but I must have been dreaming (or put it in the wrong place). So now here are some pics of my progress. The pilots are quite suntanned as I only have copper and light grey to play with, but it doesn't look to bad, but I have just realised that I need to take a pic from the front so that you can see.
  9. It's very nice, now all I've got to do is make on just like it to go with the MASH chopper. It's nice to know there are no dramas involved in making it. faceman
  10. Hi Oliver Dashed brilliant piece of plumbing going on over there faceman

  14. 20 Here are my finished build pics of Westland Scout AH1 XT626 D & T Sqn AAC with the 1973 prototype Heli Teli trial fit. Cheers faceman
  15. Hi all Just as well Erwin extended the deadline I have just finished and got some pics, not the best photography though. So may I present, Wesland Scout AH1 XT626 of D & T Sqn AAC fitted with the prototype Heli Teli for the initial trials in 1973. All 1000+ lbs of it. It had slimmed down a bit by the time it reached service but was still about 10 times the weight of the modern bolt ons in service now. Cheers faceman
  16. All you poor people who won't get to the shop before it slips to sea, or it's new home I have seen it in the flesh or plastic or whatever, and it looks even better than the pics. Nice one Paul faceman
  17. Hi Paul As we talked about today, I'm definitely going to do the Gazelle. Still think that getting a load of bods together in a big room for a day to do the build would be fun. faceman
  18. Thanks for the kind words Oliver, once i've got the stretchers on, I'll be looking for a Dodge Ambulance and hope to make a MASH helipad diorama faceman
  19. Hi everyone' Been having a few probs trying to get finished. My sister and daughter decided to tidy my modelling room! they seem to think it's something called a living room So I had a tail rotor and "hockey stick" (thats the bit under the tail) to make. Having got over that shock and trying to get stuff ready for the South Cheshire Militaire, all of a sudden where there were two oleo struts fitted and painted there was only one, how the carpet monster grabbed it is a mystery but despite an intense search the green carpet did not give the very little green part back so scratch building a new pair was the only way. The third attempt gave a pleasing result. I've still got a bit to do before the closing date but I thought I'd put some pics on just so you know I haven't run off! Bits and pieces of the jigsaw The remaining kit oleo and the two new ones New oleo fitted and in front is the new tail rotor under construction Thats all for now faceman
  20. Another couple of pics. Nearly finished, just sorting the casualties and the MASH side panels. faceman
  21. Sorry Terry It took a few months to squeeze these ones out of my mate, thamnks for the comment though. Yours too Walrus Faceman
  22. Hi Oliver So just how much are you paying the little pixies to make the tiny bits? and do they have a workshop this side of the pond? Simply STUNNING! Well done
