  1. Looking good, can almost hear the thwack of the rotors.
  2. Hi Oliver I am stunned! Almost to the point of giving up on my Bell 47D. The mast is awesome what is kit, aftermarket and then just pure micro engineering? The swashplate linkages are superb.
  3. Hi all Having finaly found a photo to backup my recollection of the original Heli Teli trial in 1973, I have been fettling! Current heli telis are about 5% of the weight of the first. The first pic is a test fit of engine and gearbox, the other two are the first pass at the Heli teli fit Should have some better pics in a couple of days Cheers Faceman
  4. Hi all a couple more pics, I'm trying to get this and the Scout finished for the South Cheshire Militaire Show on the 28th Feb As I said in the earlier post, the pilot needed major surgery to fit rhe control condition! A couple of general views as the light appears at the end of the build tunnel Cheers Faceman
  5. Hi Oliver I have since decided that I will use the pilot so he has had major surgery to get the feet on the pedals and hold the collective down! It did seem like a good Idea at the time. faceman
  6. I posted some pics a while ago but it,s been languishing in the hanger while a friend has been sorting out some masks for the serials etc, as soon as I get them I'll do some more pics. Faceman
  7. Hi all Thought I'd post some pics of the Bell 47D that has been on the bench for a bit. It was far too far advanced in the build to go inthe Heli group build but I am still adding detail while doing the GB model. More soon Cheers Faceman
  8. Hi guys and gals I thought I'd better show you that I'm still here and doing some modelling. So instead of modelling I've spent loads of time editing pics and computing for your delectation or any other emotion you wish. I have finally put the dremel back in its box so the first two pics are; after the dremel compilations The Main rotor gearbox needed somthing to hold it down Better check that the engine will still fit! the MRG anchored down, useful in a heli I think Aifix only saw P531 drawings which didn't have hydraulics unlike the production Scouts and Wasps As promised to Mastergg, the front windows, a big advantage of using Micro Kristal Klear is that it doesn't damage the plastic when you take 4 or 5 attempts to get the windows fitted properly Thats all for now folks' I have a hankering to do some modelling! or eat. Regards Faceman
  9. Hi Masterqq, The airwaves canopy doesn't include the lower door and nose windows. I have detachedv these from the top bits and also slit the nose window from the lower door. It is still not a perfect fit and as they are both compound curves, creating windows from PVA doesn't look right. When I get round to putting some wip pics on I'll do some of this area. Regard Faceman
  10. Hi all One of the reasons I've stayed clear of the Airfix Scout is the rubbish engine deck. The Airwaves after market bits go someway to improving the situation but the Nimbus is still far from adequate so the Dremel has been busy! There are a few anomalies on the fuselage which also need addressing, but it does keeps me out of mischief. So here are some pics: First the bits out of the box. The Airwaves Nimbus as supplied After the first Dremel attack, note the swarf pile! The Main rotor gearbox as supplied The brass cockpit floor came attached the wrong way up to a replacement plastic floor and had to be unstuck and refitted. The Instrument panel didn't have a cowl so a bit of the scap brass came in useful. Underside of the fuselage smoothed off. The top of the fuselage with the canopy frame cut away to allow the vac form canopy to be fitted. Half way down the tail boom is a rotating transformer with a removable cover, hence a little bump is starting. There is not a strengthener on the stbd side panel despite Airfix's attempt to put one there. Thats all for now folks. Faceman
  11. Hi there I have started the build of the Airfix 1/72 scout with airwaves added extras, I got the kit and bits secondhand and some of the brass had been bent, but not enough to disqualify for the GB. I will post some start pics when the photo card, card reader, computer and myself are all in the same place! Cheers for now
  12. My friend spent 6 months living in this ambulance. The kit is a JB, with a few scratch bits added.
  13. Anti-static rubber has been around for years, not just for a/c tyres. Hospital trolleys are a favorite use, they used to be indicated by yellow sidewalls.
  14. Hi All I went looking for Klear and found the new stuff "Pledge Multi Surface Wax" which says that it is rebranded Klear. As it didn't look or smell the same I got a spare canopy part and scatched it a bit, glue fingered it a bit and generaly messed it up. I then dunked it in the stuff, I'm glad it wasn't a needed part as it did not do anything useful apart from making it shiny. Fortunately my local Morrisons have recently got some of the proper Klear in at the moment. Incidentaly some military types have been known to use Klear for bulling their boots! Cheers Faceman
  15. For those out there that can't get to Crewe, you are so unlucky. I've seen it grow pretty much from day one and it's better than the pics.
  16. Does anybody know of an evarts class DE kit, When the RN got them they didn't have the topedo tubes fitted and were classed as frigates.
  17. unable to find the superlatives that come close, unbelievably amazing.
  18. I'm converted to priming, if you can see the inside and are going to paint it, then prime it.
  19. Hi Alan The kit is an Airfix Mk3, the conversion is to a Mk1. I thought that the picture titles and comments would have downloaded from photobucket which would have added some info. Faceman
  20. A slack handful of pics of my sunderland project. First time using Etch brass, vac form canopies and an airbrush. there should be more to come. Float test; Unfortunately it's too heavy to float correctly so I can't tow it behind my flower class corvette There's a hole in my bucket...; Conversion to mk1 means cutting out faired step then fix it...; and replacing with a knife edge step Airfix flight deck; such complexity! WEM flight deck pt1; few more bits here WEM flight deck pt2; add the wireless ops bench and nav's seat WEM flight deck pt3; and finally the nav's bench and wop's seat WEM flight deck in situ; all the bits in Don't wear flappy jackets! oops or poo!; I didn't really want to do that! support the deck; I added a support for the flight deck when rebuilding the depth charge room primed for blemishes; Humbrol acrylic primer aerosol Aluminium, well it was all metal; lifecolour aluminium metallic acrylic, for when the top colour falls off or wears away first try at scatching the tail turret pt 1; seemed like a good idea at the time first try at scatching the tail turret pt 2; next bit of turret scratching; now I find the book on frasher nash turrets nose turret bits; nearly there nose turret inners; Vickers gun needs a drum magazine on top
