  1. For reasons of space (plus the fact that for that price 'the other half' would want a trollyfull of food things fromTesco) sadly I won't be indulging. However, the pic at the beginning of the thread shows a Tr.9...............Surely not even Tamiya are that adventurous are they?
  2. So the concensus seems to be avoid!
  3. Hiya Walrus I remember mention of Zengdfu. Didn't they sort of borrow Fujimi woulds?
  4. Hello everyone. Just idly thumbing through E-Bay looking for nothing in particular and I came across this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kitech-1-48-Spitfire...id=p3286.c0.m14 When I scrolled down I found lots of other kits from various periods. There are ships, tanks and airliners too. You can click on each picture for a fuller description. Are they originals, or are they 'inspired' by others? Has anyone bought one? Apols in advance to the Mods if this is in the wrong place, but it didn't seem to fit in Chat?
  5. Now, someone needs to do some of these in 48th! I think I saw one back in the 70's but on floats?
  6. Very nice. As a military type even I'm tempted! Slightly off topic - I'm sure that on the news the other day that there was a DC-10 firebomber WHIH? Does anyoneone do stickies for them?
  7. Lovely model and way beyond what I could do! I am having to cheat here to find the 'fault'. Wickedpedia has this piccy for an 84 Sqn machine http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/comm...HAR10-XJ729.jpg Is it the filter on the front upper/port side nose? If so - I would live with it. Much respect.
  8. Some of the Tamiya examples were reboxed by an oufit called BEN in the 1980's. I remember doing the Il-28 - nice kit. The only mod meeded was to eliminate the dihedral from the wingroot
  9. Huntray perhaps? a) rather nice try sitting in a dark room until the urge disappears
  10. Very interesting. Have you comparedit with Marmite?
  11. Help! I need to get a quick build under my belt to get my enthusiasm for building fired up again. Nothing fancy, so I decided on the Hobbyboss F-86F-30 to be finished as a mk.4 in RAF service. Cheap, quick and readily available in Model Zone it will be an ideal bank holiday diversion. It will be in standard camo finish. My question is this; what colour are the cockpit/ejection seat, wheel wells and the inside of the airbrakes? I will pick an easy scheme as I will only be using my spare decal stash for markings. I think SAMI did a profile not long ago so will dig that out for inspiration. The results will be posted for your inspection. Thanks in anticipation!
  12. Jaz Important things first - welcome to the nut house! now then down to business; Modelzone in St. John's Precinct has piles of stuff, Revell, Airfix, Hobbyboss etc. BTW don't be tempted by the Pegasus Models' 1/48 Hurricane, ME262 etc because they charge about £16 whereas everywhere else they are £6 - 7..........
  13. Just to complicate things even further, no one has mentioned the Hobbyboss kits. They do at least two boxings; one an F-30 with a wing fence that I assume is a hard wing and an F-40 with slats (6-3 wing?). Are these right? Also in general are they worth considering?
  14. I assume that the USAAF version was contemporary to the RAF ship (a mk.III). If so it was built to a British order including paint specs so it SHOULD be dk. green/dk. earth/sky. I am assuming that the paints were made by Dupont? I have heard that there were some differences in hue. I would suppose that these are the same arguements as you would have for Flying Tiger P-40's?
  15. Intrigued by the Turkish PR XIX, I found this on the Modelling madness website. Nice model, but surely the entry hatch is wrong? http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=turkis...rkspitPRXIX.jpg it's image #40 btw. I didn't mean to copy the whole site but what the heck there are some nice models.
  16. from memory: wider fusealge to accomodate the Avon deeper intake coz it gulped more air (bit like Spey Phantoms) one 30mm Aden cannon per side instead of the 3x .50 cal Brownings I would assume that the panel lines were different too Now then.........what style wing(s) did it have?
  17. WOW! That's very generous of you to share your database with the rest of us. Thank you and I'm sure that I will make use of this resource.
