  1. ooh! That's nice! 1) who will be first with the stickies? 2) how much decal softener will you need to bed them down wth? MH
  2. Nice build and welcome to the forum! Must get my Revell FGR.2 out of the loft sometime................. MH
  3. I believe that Uruguay is buying some examples. Why not wait to see if theirs are simpler? or Nasa............. http://www.vectorsite.net/avs3_4.jpg MH
  4. Disbanding the Arrows (or BBMF for that matter) is a non starter. Can you imagine the headlines in the Daily Mail and the Telegraph? There is a theory in economics whereby you make a high profile but not necessarily economically effective 'cut', as in "look we're so committed to cuttting and making savings that we have no choice but to axe this". The idea is that the proposed cut is so repugnant that it makes other options look more acceptable. Of course the fact that those wielding the axe knew this all along is pure coincidence..................... It's not the Arrows or BBMF you need to look at but somewhere else. Typhoon, CVA, or whatever maybe? MH
  5. That would be XX262 in 1980.................... http://www.ejection-history.org.uk/PROJECT...s/Johnson_S.htm as to Red Arrow losses generally, I came across this site (it's where the above piccy came from) http://www.ejection-history.org.uk/AEROBAT.../RED_ARROWS.htm MH
  6. After you have masked the canopy leaving the frame exposed, first paint the frame in the interior colour and then the outside colour depending on which scheme you choose. MH
  7. here's the BBC link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/8580266.stm and here's GD UK's info http://www.generaldynamics.uk.com/FRES/default.asp Not being an AFV person to me it says 'tank' cos it has tracks? Is it any good? Do the US use it? MH
  8. Just a thought - why give the FAA seconhand aircraft when Cosford was scrapping delivery mileage newbies? MH
  9. Yes to the above. I tried this myself and quite frankly abandoned the thing. I cut out the ventral fuel tank and surrounding area from the Matchbox kit - ditto the Airfix Mk.1. They don't fit eachother I think one fuselage is wider than the other. Also the area at the rear of the Airfix cut out bears no resemblence to the Matchbox kit. The wings swap easily enough though. To the above, there may be missile, wheel and cable duct differences, but my project never got far enough for me to find out. Pray Academy brings out a T.4/5. MH
  10. Good grief! Utterly uterly brilliant. Please share your secrets with us. MH
  11. It's interesting that even though it's a Vc, it still has the earlier style flat sided canopy with the clear view knock-out panel. I would have thought that by then the later bulged side would have been standard? MH
  12. captured by the Aussies in North Africa? MH
  13. That's so wrong but right! What scheme are you going to use? MH
  14. In addition to the above the base of the canopy slopes away from the nose and should be level SNEB rocket pods are too pointed at the front No cockpit detail completre with FROGman pilot Tailpipe needs lining IIRC there is just a blanking plate cannon troughs are vague raised but restrained panel lines no wheel well detail On the plus side and despite the foregoing it 'looks' ok really and the transfers were well printed MH
  15. The wheel well arrangement looks good; scope for detailing there. Yes the trench-like panel lines around the nose can be correted with Tipp-Ex in a few moments. I see the cockpit has a floor - not in real life it don't - paint it black perhaps? Sea Hurricane option - well done. For the asking price I give it a thumbs up. Will I get one - oh yes! MH
  16. I saw the SAMI picture too. To me the prop/spinner and mast looked odd but the rest was ok. Jonathan's model looks fne to me - the rear fuselage fabric representation seems streets ahead of Hasegawa. I have spares in my stash to replace what I see as the shortcomings. So for the price I wouldn't complain. Still it's a shame that these 'errors' are there. It's not as if the Hurricane is a rare beast............ MH
  17. Wotabout a Do 217/Ju 87 Mistel combo? MH
  18. Is it a coincidence that Dambusters II is hovering in the background? Maybe she would appear in that. Possibly easier for Peter Jackson to get this flying than wade through paperwork to get the MoD to loan PA474 and to get CWH's over the pond? Remember NX611 was on the UK civil register as G-ASXX. MH
  19. Not sure, but I cover the seat with matt varnish at the end to seal it all in. MH
  20. check out this thread over on the Key Publishing forum http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...l%3Den%26sa%3DG I had an OMG moment with the F-14 until I scrolled down! MH
  21. Not sure about F-4's but I can do you an F-5.................. http://www.randalf.cz/sw/ru/tiger.php Not sure how 'legit' many of the pics are, but still intersting WHIF's if nothing else. I used Babelfish to translate into pidgin English. Soviet Vampire anyone? MH
  22. WARNING Mr. Muscle is caustic and will damage skin if exposed to it. It may look naff but Marigold gloves are a must. I agree with the plastic bag method but tend to leave it overnight. Also it pongs and the fumes can be hazardous. Use in a well ventilated area like a garden. Put your model on a stick and spray facing downwind. Wear a face mask as well. Sorry to sound like elf and safety, but better to be prepared than waste modelling time at the A & E. MH
  23. thanks for the clarification! MH
  24. gotta be dark green/dark sea grey/sea grey (medium) - matt with blue/red roundels and tail flash. Grey Phantoms (as with any warbird) are unspeakably dull. 2 Sqn would be nice. MH
  25. I was looking at Google to see if coild find the image of an F-111K in flight. My recollection was that it was a gull grey/white model obviously (and crudely) retouched photo. Anyway what I found was this.......... http://hansard.millbanksystems.com/lords/1...-f111k-aircraft If you go to the bottom and Lord Jellico's last quote, you will see that at one time it was contemplated that the RAF had both the F-111K and the Phantom at the same time(?!). My understanding was that the Phantom was only ordered AFTER the cancellation of the -K? MH
