  1. Quick update. It appears that the cheek glazing wasn’t always flush. See here internet photo used for research only Reminds me that I’ll have to scratch a bombsight from nothing…. Trevor
  2. Thanks @Thom216! Since then I’ve test fitted one of the lenses and the holes are a tad small, so I will have to enlarge them anyway Now ‘An Exciting Bit’, well for me at least. As moulded, the cheek windows are now too large. They are however quite clear and so the intention will be to utilise the kit parts, albeit pared down. My approach was to slot in the window, lining it with the top and then running a biro along the bottom edge. That got me to here I then tacked some Tamiya Tape slightly below the line (easier to trim than to add!) like so and then gently sawed away the excess The bit I want is at the bottom. A quick polish and then attach using the Revell Contacta Clear, keeping it in place by tacking tape on the inside A perfect fit!!!!!! Standing slightly proud of the surrounding plastic, this will allow me to gently sand it smooth and buff it back to clarity with polishing pads. And repeat for the port side. I couldn’t possibly be that lucky again could I? No, not quite. Some additional fettling required and I did end up with a smallish gap in a bottom corner, but hopefully the Contacta Clear will see to that. I securely taped that side too and will now leave it for 24 hours to set before the sand and buff treatment. Thanks for looking! Trevor
  3. Woohoo! Page 1 of a Hendie build. I’ve got one of these stalled at 80% built and all I can say is that it’s a beautiful kit. To my amateurish eye there is very little that needs correcting. One obvious and very easy thing to do is open up the hole on the starboard side just aft of the wing root. Moulded as a circle, just open it out. No idea what it’s for (enginy thingy?) I then put a short length of tube blanked off at the other end and paint black. Here it is on a T.7 at the demarcation between the upper and lower camo https://www.prints-online.com/new-images-august-2021/hawker-hunter-t7-xl618-87-23462542.html Trevor
  4. How to cut out the holes? I quickly decided that the easiest way would be to drill smaller holes around the circumference and cut out the plastic and gradually ream out the excess plastic. Soon I had both starboard cut outs finished. The eagle eyed will see my faux pas with the camera port at the rear. I had been none too accurate in lining up that particular drilled hole. The remedy is very simple. On the cutting mat I had shavings and swarf from the drilling operation. By using the brush off my Tamiya Extra Thin to pick up these shavings, they melted on the brush into plastic gloop. Repeating the operation a few times filled in the excess area and all I have to do it wait for the gloop to harden and I can sand back to a smooth, round edge. My idea for the camera is to construct two boxes to fit over the holes and paint the insides black. I will then mock up the front of the camera with plastic rod and clear plastic so that they can be seen within the fuselage. That’s the theory anyway! Cheers Trevor
  5. Thanks @Biggles87 Not too bad. Slightly over indulgent and only one new kit from Santa, namely the Revell 1/72 Tornado GR.1. Hope your modelling year is a good one (don’t you have a Tamiya Spitfire on the go?) Trevor
  6. Aaaand I’m back. I’ve been in hiatus with this for a few months purely as I felt I needed to get something else done and in that time I finished the SNCAS900 for French Fancy part deux and am happily pottering along with the delightful (until the rigging bit) Airfix Tiger Moth in 1/48 scale. Refreshed and raring to go again, my aim is to get the fuselage halves together. Before I do that though I need to sort out the three ‘oles on the underside, namely the window for the crew hatch and the two camera windows in the forward part of the bomb bay. Here are two of them Shown as engraved circles, there is no corresponding engraving on the inside to aid cutting out. Curiously though, transparencies are provided for both camera ports but not the crew hatch in both the kit and Tasman replacements. My aim is to cut out all three. For the hatch, I’ll simply paint the back black. For the camera however I hope to represent the front of the F.24 cameras. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/F24_camera Let’s see what happens…… Trevor
  7. Sounds intriguing-count me in. Usual caveat of ‘dunno yet’ Trevor
  8. Looking forward to this! I bought one from WH Smiths for £1. Some of the bits are still in my spares box. Trevor
  9. If that’s the Ark and it’s a clue to an aircraft, wotabout a Gannet, Wessex or Whirlwind? Trevor
  10. I’m usually an aeroplane builder but I’ve wanted one of these kits since they first came out. That is a showroom finish of a very lovely looking car Trevor
  11. That looks rather tasty. I got one from Aldi in November this year. Mine will be a 2TWU camouflage jobby. Thanks for the nosesweight tip Does the kit have the auxiliary intakes behind the cockpit that differentiates it from the T.3? I’ve looked on the stories but unless I’m going blind, I can’t see them. Trevor
  12. at the ready. Page 1 and you’ve almost finished! Tempted by this one, but I think I’ll wait for the ‘basic’ version. Trevor
  13. Even as a die hard military modeller, I love the Vicky 10 and your build (as per usual) does the model full justice Trevor
  14. just outside Chipping Sudbury
  15. Dad got one new in 1970 and had it for ten years. I loved that car and learned to drive in it, even though the pedals came out of the floor and the heating system is best described as volcanic Trevor ATD 852J
  16. Head over to Airfix on Twitter. They are asking for 2023 suggestions Trevor
  17. Nice! It’s always an incentive when you jump ahead a bit ‘just to see what it looks like’. Some superb work going on there. Trevor ……..that last photo looks rather Star Warish!
