  1. Stupendous ! Ali, do me a favour and lick some stamps - I'm waiting for delivery !
  2. Okay, those of you in the know will remember that the Su-47 was a prototype that only ever appeared in black. I decided to change all of that by finishing this one in a What-if “operational” scheme. The kit was simple enough and the painting wasn’t as difficult as it looks (thanks to Artool Ultra Mask and a sharp blade). I'm afraid the build took a lot longer than it should have, but that's my fault - I'm easily distracted by the flow of new kits into my loft ! Got to admit being a bit surprised with the size of the blighter – it’s a little bit bigger than the Su-27. Here are a few more pics taken at a lower angle Kit : 1/72 by Hobbysboss Decals : Borrowed off Begemot sheets for Su-27s Seat : K36-DM by Neomega Paints : White Ensign Comments welcome mike
  3. Thanks for the comments - much appreciated. You're probably right Mike - I've only seen photos of two of them (Borts 51 & 52 ) and I reckon Putin had them made for his kids to play with ! Cheers Dr E. - At the rate you build 'em I reckon we should be able to see the finished article tomorrow as well ?! mike
  4. Kit : 1/72 Zvezda Sukhoi T-50 Decals : Begemot Okay – not everyone's cup of tea and although the kit has been pummelled on the Internet because of inaccuracies and shape issues, I’m not one of those who could really give a hoot. (Far more aesthetic in comparison to the Raptor IMHO - even with shape issues !) Had some problems with the undercarriage bays and engine trunking – couldn’t get one to fit without leaving gaps in the other (and vice versa.) Once I managed to get those sorted out (on both sides !) it was pretty much plain sailing. I’d recommend a closer look at the camouflage colours suggested by Zvedza. They seemed to be a bit too dark in comparison to photos of the real thing and I ended up remasking and respraying the pale grey, but didn’t want to use up any more tape doing the others. (Luckily the flash on my camera came to my help by lightening things up somewhat.) Begemot decals were brilliant once I got to grips with them – initial issues were entirely self inflicted. ….and a few from a different angle : So there we go - took a bit longer to complete than it should have, but now a couple of lines have been drawn in the sand for the start of 2012 : ~ actually finished a kit - my first for a long time. ~ hopefully removed a hurdle for a club-mate to build a T-50 of his own. ~ I'm now sure I'll be able to complete at least two models this year ! Thanks for looking. mike
  5. Nice one Wayne ! Glad you managed to get it finished in time. (Like the look of the rest of your collection as well, but then I may be biased.....) mike
  6. Brilliant news ! (Must say you caught me out with "Ye Olde" Rhodesian Air Force Dakota markings)
  7. That's rather special John. Lovely work
  8. Disappointed, but I feel the pain - struggling to finish anything myself. Our dining-room table is beginning to look like the Davis-Montham boneyard. Hope to see your Dak finished someday. mike
  9. Looking sharp Wayne. Don't mind the different shades of alclad - all adds to the finish...........but the Apple Tea ??? Where's the Chibuku ?
  10. What the hell ???..........I've run out of popcorn ! C'mon Wayne - what's happenin' ?
  11. Hell Gav, in spite of your concerns, that's turned out pretty nicely - well done
  12. Run out of superlatives - that's fabulous. mike
  13. Mein Gott !!!! You're turning into a veritable model-making machine ! (Are you on the same medication as Clive and can you lend me some ??? - My model-making needs a serious KITA !) Lovely Hunter by the way. It seems like just yesterday when you brought it along to the club in it's natural state to discuss it's foibles. Masterful......
  14. Nice one Keef ! I'm beginning to think it's gonna be about 5 years before I finish my next kit ! At least there'll be NO pressure on me while you and Clivey keep churning 'em out
  15. Simply spectacular John - well done.
  16. ....and then he pulls another one out of the bag ! Watching with interest
  17. Damn it Wayne ! That's turned out really well - well enough for me to go into the loft and fetch mine down. Must resist....must resist.....
  18. Looking good - well impressed with the paintwork. I can see I'm going to struggle to hold out on the 1/72 one for the Airliner GB. mike
  19. Impressive stuff Neil, although I must say that I'm a bit surprised over the issue with the diameter of the plugs. Thanks for posting pics of the wing fix - they'll come in handy for me 'cos I don't read instructions either. cheers mike
  20. Brilliant stuff John. Now how about the TWA 727-100 to follow up ??? mike
  21. Hi, Any chance of a pic or two so I know what to do when I get a chance ? Thanks mike
  22. Nice one Keef - Now I'm really suffering pangs of guilt wondering how the hell my WHIF could even come close to matching this at the club comp - you wuz robbed ! I think we'll have to breathalyse all of the judges at the door before the next comp !!! Stunning job on the Camel and Ace photography - thanks for posting. mike P.S. with regards to the comment about the colony, I'll have to have a chat to Seafire Dave about setting up IPMS East Carmarthenshire
  23. I'm afraid I don't have any photos, but I'd go with the grey / silver. Some photos available on the Internet : Santa Claus and a few on Rob Norton's site : Robin Norton No pressure, but I'm counting on you getting it right as I have a 1/72 DC-3 in the loft waiting to come downstairs. mike
