Hi Mark
B-52G's were deployed for Desert Storm
806th Bombardment Wing (Provisional) RAF Fairford
57-6498 (416th BW) "Ace in the Hole" 11 missions
58-0168 (379th BW) 2 missions
58-0182 (379th BW) "What's up Doc?" 5 missions
58-0204 (379th BW) "Special Delivery" 6 missions
Bomb Mission Markings for this wing were painted in red
806th BW(P) were operational for one month leaving Fairford on 9th March 1991
B-52G's carried 9 GP M117 bombs on each of it's underwing stores + 27 in the bomb bay.
HTH at least it narrows down the sub type for any mods needed.
if you want info on any of the other units please let me know

i think the B-52 idea is over, the revell kit is for a B-52D and the gulf war B-52's were G's there are so many differences between them, the tail is completley different shape, the nose is very different an d there are updates lumps and bumps every where. i will save this for a vietnam build in the future, my skill is not that good to do all the changes it needs, it would be easier for someone just to buy a B-52G kit, i think Italieri kit, so i will withdraw the B-52 from the build, but thanks for all the info

Hi Mark
don't have a lot ofn the B-52 but i can find out which units were operating in Desert Storm if that helps
would appriciate that, i have a feeling kit kit needs a whole new nose and tail and engines, so it may not be worth it with this kit?, but ill do some more digging

ok, in a moment of madness i decided to clean the loft out yesterday afternoon, and found a 1/72 revell B-52 that i bought some years ago and forgot about. now i remember living in gloucester at the out break of Gulf War 2 and remember seeing the B-52 leaving fairford on a bombing run on bagdad!!!, now later on in the group build i may attempt this kit, but im unsure of any modifications ill need to make of of any aftermarket declas for the gulf, can anybody help?
i must be mad!
thanks mark
-

ok, im turning to the dark side
yesterday i bought a CC LEE challanger model kit from the midalsnds airmuseum in coventry, the kit is a rip off of a tamiya kit ?(ive only just found out) but it is excelent fine detail no flash and all for £10, now i see them on evil bay for £6.50
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CC-LEE-CHALLENGER-1-...id=p3286.c0.m14
well worth a punt!
-
just found one on evil bay a bargin!!
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CC-LEE-CHALLENGER-1-...id=p3286.c0.m14
cc lee models apparently!
-
i know nothing about Armour, so when i saw the kit i thought id have a pop, the models is really well detailed and crisp, it includes nylon mesh and bolts for the hull and nice looking rubber track, compared to a friends tamiya panza the level of detail and crispness is the same
-
yesterday i bought a 1/35 LEE challanger (3) for £10 from the midlands air museum, the models is highly detailed and crisp, the instructions refer to tamiya paints and the instructions themselves look like tamiya ones, so is it a reboxed tamiya? there are others in the series, and i may have to buy them!

hi guys and gals
this will be my first group build i dont know if im up to all your standards but ill give it a go, the plan was to build a couple of Jaguars and a tornado, but having been seduced by the dark side im going to build my first EVER tank, my 5year old son wanted a tank a few weeks ago and he sparked my interest, so i bought one that im told is fairly strait forward to build

and oh my god it may be small but the box is jammed full of plastic, alot more than most aircraft kits of the same scale! and the box art certainly looks the piece for a gulf wars group build!
so here goes!
-
it seems war has been declared!
looking forward to this one
-
i didnt spot that one!!!!!

-
hi and welcome, to answer your question is not that strait forward, use the search function on the forum there are loads of threads, with the same question! and loads of answers
