  1. Nice to have you aboard, so i opened my minicraft box for the 1st time since i bought it a year ago and the hull is massive nearly 80 cms long and how many pieces....could take me a year to build:-) here is a link to everything you could want to know about how to do your titanic model and more Rivet counter and a good link for anyone with the minicraft 1:350 titanic How to 1:350 titanic
  2. defiantly got to have would like very nice next to my vanguard and kv5
  3. that is an amazing build for card. Anything goes material wise btw
  4. cant find any build dioramas on the net, this could be a first
  5. happy with that, just need to get some modelling tape and im all set. Im going to have a look on trma to see what colours are most realistic for funnels, etc. Some of those guys over there mix their own paints to get the most realistic colours, i think ill go with the closest match none mix effort
  6. got an answer for you had to edit 1 word wonder which one, but left reply as is.
  7. that is a good idea gives us the same time to build a scale model that took 4000 men to complete from launch yep i like that idea would you like me to co host richellis?
  8. i ordered that last year and still haven't received it from my book club...must get back on to them. Rich i would be willing to help you if you like? my books include White Star by roy anderson ( quite rare) The titanic, end of a dream by Wyn Craig Wade ( scarce) Titanic & her sisters Olympic & Britannic by Tom McCluske, Michael Sharpe and Leo Marriot (excellant book 510 A4 pages with pics of construction etc) The riddle of the Titanic by Robin Gardiner and Dan Van der Vat Titanic the ship that never sank by robin gardener Dr ballads titanic wreck book...cant find it for the title ...hmmmm and a couple more that have moved from the bookshelf they were on...best check the wifes ebay As for the time period i think a year from 14th april to 1th april 2012 would do it because of a) it would give people time to source a model b ) if people want to do a wreck diorama this would give them the time to do it. c) if we hit problems which we probably will it gives us time to get people finished d) it is a memorial build so lets take our time saying that even in a year my build isnt going to be as good as what i have seen possible on these forums, i cant do rigging.... but we can all help each other just an idea
  9. on thing is they have people who have built say a minicraft titanic, has thought the order of assembley was pooh so they re wrote them and posted them on the forums, now thats good
  10. they were still being used by chinooks in bosnia when i was there in 99 after that i dont know but i know a man i can ask who was on harriers up to last year edit : pm'd my mate awaiting answer
  11. could we not start it to finish just before then?
  12. i have lots of books and love the subject, and am a member of the trma (Titanic Research & modeling Association)forums so for any really interesting questions i should be able to get an answer over there. And I have a new minicraft titanic waiting to be started so i would be up for co-hosting. only downside is im down in the falklands from aug till nov this year would that be an issue as i would still have tinterweb Titanic Research & Modeling Association
  13. ok just had a look at some old course notes and from what i remember i had to lie on my back with my feet holding to doppler up to fit it, so in between the wheels is too far back, according to a very bad notebook of mine the doppler is in front of the uhf type aerials in front of the round thing still looking ok heres is a picture showing the underneath of a chinny with the aforementioned doppler as the white square and the circular thing just behind the front u/c and aft of the fwd hook and heres a better one, save it and zoom in as you see what ever it is, is off centreline strange might have to facebook a couple of mates at odiham for this one
  14. hi its been about 8 yrs since ive worked on one but that area is the same colour as the outside of the cab but as has been said is a lot dirtier i think the large flat are that you have on the hc2 is the doppler antena, could you post a pic of your model so i can see exactly what you want to know
  15. here is a link to another post on the forums into how the steps are done, there are yellow sections with grey rams, forgot as i havent used any in about 2 years ladders the very top stage is complete yellow
  16. fantastic build as i posted in another thread i have been working on that very jet this week see here one thing i have noticed is that a lot of peoples kits show the underside as clean and nice and grey, youve done a good job showing the dirt could i make some suggestions at point 1 just aft of the coolers is a very nice example of how it is in real life, where i have placed the boxes just aft of the fwd gear there is something the same in both corners. the big red box at the veri cowls has the same effect as the trailing edge of the wing meeting the control surfaces. between the 2 green lines is a few random trails that appear in this area. one thing i have noticed with all typhoon kits is that the warning decals ie no step etc dont seem to be as stand out in real life they are a more faded black if you get my meaning as i said though excellent model, if you or any body making a typhoon model want any help in how the real things look in certain areas i will answer as best i can without breeching any rules
  17. heres a good site for some detail for you to look at, looks like a 17 sqn jet though...yuk typhoon pics from some random site
  18. just thought id add this as i was bored at work tonight
  19. very very nice model, very good apu sooting marks as well i was actually working on that very jet last night (as in the real one:-) ) the only thing i would mention and please dont take it the wrong way is that the pilot access steps are a yellow colour in real life, similar to the smiley colour on the forums
  20. nice build mate, i used to work on pumas and have actually worked on that cab, its a good likeness, as for the gearbox (the bit behind the exhausts) that is just about the right colour. The wooden floors were installed in the 80's to protect the original metal floor that was getting damaged, with holes in them for seating struts etc. fuel tanks etc would sit onto this also.
  21. I would defiantly be up for this as i have a 1:350 minicraft sitting int the spare room waiting to be built. As for well there's not much scope for variety, what about all the single model group builds? to be fair though we could build titanics, and icebergs, but carpathia and the Californian would be self builds, a little daunting in my books. i have though put together a list of ships that were involved in the titanic disaster from my collection of titanic books, this is not a definitive list In the area of the titanic sinking within 1 degrees Carpathia Californian Mount Temple Rappahannock Almerian hard to find a pic of the above Parisian Further away but turned towards to lend assistance Olympic (then advised by bruce ismay that titanics sister ship coming to the area might not be good for the survivors so to continue on its voyage) Mackay bennet (body retrieval) USS Chester (radio relay for survivor list) thats really about it, there are more but none that i think require a mention all photos are used with thanks to their respectve site owners
  22. as im in the RAF ive seen a couple of tiger meets, but when i was on 230 sqn in northern ireland this scheme was dreamt up by a techie and applied to the cab. Only downside is that we had the clean the bugger a bit to keep it clean anyway here you go, cant find my pics there on an external drive but heres the airliner.net one, ill try and post mine later
