Lemkits 1:32- the first details of the new project IL-10
B_Bogus replied to LemKits's topic in The Rumourmonger
For non-members of the FB private group above... http://lemkits.com/product/1-32-ilyushin-il-10-beast-limited-edition-resin-kit/ -
It rang a bell but I just found it... it's in the Kookaburra publication...

Absolutely - the shade matches the shadow under the nacelle, but lacks the intensity of the black wing underside. Curiously, I found this in the old Ducimus book. Clearly not on operational squadron strength yet, and the dark (camouflage green/brown, apparently) spinners don't help either! To further flog the (not quite) dead horse, it states the Sept. 1941 scheme was either Ocean Grey or Mixed Grey (seven parts MSG, one part Night), with the Mixed Grey being predominant during 1941 I've seen such huge variations in the currently available Ocean Grey model colours as to make such subtleties irrelevant anyway! EDIT: The black wing on P6985 was introduced November 1940 and was 'semi-permanent distemper' applied over the Sky - applied to the wing & nacelle only (it says...)

Just two squadrons' worth. If Rolls Royce had had the resources to develop both the Peregrine and the Merlin it would have been a different story. The Beaufighter met the requirement, so that was the end I read an account where an engine failed over the Channel and after landing what was left of it filled a few buckets! Rather bizarrely there was no fuel cross-feed, so if one engine quit its fuel just stayed put. The customer didn't specify it, so Westlands didn't provide it! Can't remember where I read in now, but the upper surface grey was called 'Mixed Grey', and wasn't Ocean Grey. USAAF Neutral Gray is apparently a good match.

Glad you found the Foxbot masks - I bought them for the Academy kit, but haven't got around to it yet... somehow I think my plans are changing!

Interestingly Dragon have re-released it too - available from a certain online auction site

Assuming it's the Dragon mould? Couldn't find anything on Revell's website https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/revell-03855-junkers-ju188-a-1-racher-1-48-model-kit/

Looks like things are progressing well...

Streets ahead! Still waiting patiently

I'll believe it when I see the decals
-
Looking forwards to this. When I worked at Westlands our design office overlooked a gap in the houses where one didn't make it over the threshold

1/32 - Fokker F.1,Dr.I (early & late) by Meng - released
B_Bogus replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
I pre-ordered a couple from Luckymodel and they arrived this morning. Even though I got clobbered £13 in import duties they still came in at less than £42 each I'll post photos later, but I can say the moulding quality is equivalent to WNW - no flash or other artefacts as seen on the other review. The bowing of the wings is apparent on both my kits, so slightly disappointing, but not insurmountable. One negative I have to say is that the cockpit coaming has cut-outs for the ammo feeds, and this results in an extremely thin section which had broken of one of mine. IMHO there really should have been a sprue support here. -
I ordered some from the48ers.com, and they're really impressive. The La-5 instrument panel had rounded instrument apertures and these are accurately represented - I just wish I had a better camera to do them justice: The graininess is due to camera resolution, not the decals. Quinta Studio deserve to do well, and I'll be watching their catalogue (for Spitfire stuff) with great interest...

All that propeller hub detail but no gun bay detail... Still waiting patiently here

So, four marking options then The video would certainly persuade me to order a couple if I hadn't already done so... -

I hope it's as good in the flesh - I'd assumed this was resin, but I've been told by SH that it's plastic with the few obvious bits in PE. The detail they achieved in the Tempest give me cause for optimism

It looks like 'modelling skills will be required' for dropped flaps - or leading edge/radiator slats for that matter. At least they've got separate radiator shutters

Interesting!!! I wonder how the pricing will compare to WNW? Lancaster & HP 0/400 next? -
Color for bracing wires on Fairey Swordfish?
B_Bogus replied to Richard502's topic in Work in Progress - Aircraft
I only fitted the majority of the rigging wires once the wings were assembled on the plane. Maybe that's why I didn't struggle too much (for a change)? By threading the wire far into the slot it was straightforward to slide it back out and fix the other end in place.
