  1. This reminds me of when the Revell 1/48 Eurofighter Typhoon was released - I was hoping for another Rafale quality kit, but was more than a little disappointed, to put it mildly. Given the still increasing number of Flanker kits on the market, can we hope that something better is in the pipeline?
  2. I think their shipping works out better if you're buying a few kits, but a certain amount of 'playing around' with the order is the best way to find out. Their MENG prices are good too.
  3. I received mine as a belated Chrissy prezzie. My first thought was 'we're gonna need a bigger magnifying glass'. The level of detail is borderline insane. Rather like an Eduard etched fret; will everything get used? If Minibase are setting out to impress, then I'd say they succeeded.
  4. Looking forwards to seeing this one progress. Given the age of the kit it's still pretty good. I built the Revell re-boxing, so should be similar, apart from the fact that the moulds must have been used as a door-stop at some time, based on the nicks and scratches. I got around the wing root fit issue by joining the upper wing halves to the fuselage halves prior to assembling the fuselage, and I had no problems.
  5. Subscribed! Have you decided on how to do the NMF yet?
  6. I'd say you've got it as right as can be, given we're operating from photos off computer screens on some pretty sketchy examples - well I am, anyway! The underside blue is pretty elusive, but as you say, the H323 toned down is the way to go. The instructions call it 'Air Superiority Blue', FS33450 but the MR Hobby C074 isn't it, if the online colour charts are any guide (what they're for after all..). Nevertheless, photos of the jar would indicate it's probably right? The AK RC 239 version looks pretty close too. I'm using Ammo MIG colours and am in a similar situation with the blue. I think Humbrol 65 was one call-out but this is too green to work with IMHO. I hope a Pucara expert will be along shortly to answer the airframe queries.
  7. Excellent progress - looking forwards to seeing your colour choices on this one
  8. Looks good to me too The call-out for the upper surface colour is BS216 Duck Egg Green, and the U/C certainly looks to be the same colour in the photos I've seen. Mine arrived from the former Colonies in 10 days, and with no duties...
  9. Looking forwards to the first Colditz Story diorama with tunnelling British escapees underneath. Didn't the other Services refer to the Army as 'Brown Jobs'?
  10. Watching with interest - looking good so far I built an early boxing which came with a cast nose weight - I wonder why they no longer supply one with the kit? Quite unlike Eduard! I found that the wings require a fair amount shaving off the mating surfaces to get things looking right and to achieve a fine trailing edge. A bit of a pain but worth the effort, as everything lines up so much better afterwards - I joined the upper surfaces to the fuselage before attaching the lower, and if you dry-fit the excess can be seen. Builds into a great model though, and no filler needed.
  11. Looking forwards to the next update. It's an aircraft which is long overdue in mainstream 1/48, and it looks like Kinetic have done it justice - so far The build is looking good too The Chrome paint looks intriguing; There's an automotive 'chrome' finish which may or may not be similar - it would be interesting to see a comparison. They also emphasize the importance of a mirror finish to spray onto. No different to the real chrome plating process I guess.
  12. Fair point! I still have a Revell Typhoon adorning my mancave ceiling, so not in such a big hurry. Being a Westlands ex-Company man I'm wondering when a 1/32 Welkin is going to happen... Not anytime soon, I expect
  13. Looking forwards to seeing progress on this one. I found it to be a top-notch kit too, and mine only stalled for want of the correct silbergrau (standard L/W colours). Had the pleasure of seeing a G gate guardian at the Manching factory a few years ago - wish I'd paid more attention to the colours while I had the chance! The display schemes are very tempting... The obvious answer is to build another!
  14. Following with great interest - One arrived at Christmas thanks to my Good Lady. The Foxbot Ukrainian digital camo decals await...
  15. I *was* talking about private sales - whoever takes the money from your account is irrelevant - it goes to HMRC. I'm deleting as quickly as I type as I'm trying not to get all political!
  16. Typically when importing from outside our economic border, HMRC collect any duties (Import, VAT) prior to delivery - plus their (IIRC) £16 processing fee. What this new nonsense is about, I don't know!
  17. Do tell - need more detail! Curious of Lancastria
  18. Starting to look seriously sinister! The one in my stash is calling strongly now The 'Morotas' scheme was the one I was going for, but yours is in a different league altogether
  19. Watching your progress with great interest! I was on the lookout for the Wolfpack conversion until the KH model came out. Incidentally I didn't know about the 2-seater either!
  20. Great to see this back on the bench - inspiring stuff as expected
  21. Agreed - I was really looking forward to this kit, and after building their excellent Yak-130 I was hoping for something similar. They've even managed to remove all the detail from the Ejection seats? I don't think I'll be buying this one.
  22. After their Pe-2 and Yak-130 (I haven't had my hands on the Il-2 yet) this is really surprising. At least no-one has said it's inaccurate yet
