  1. Splendid model and interesting story, thank you! Richard in NZ
  2. Whirlybits produce two replacement rear fuselages, one for the FAW1/4/5 and one for the FAW7. See www.whirlybirdmodels.com, also available from Aviation Megastore. I have no affiliation to either company, just trying to help. Richard in NZ
  3. Can anyone direct me to a review of the Freightdog Tempest VI conversion, or offer any comments? Thanks for your help. Richard in NZ
  4. Lovely build. I have found that this is an excellent kit for a first attempt at rigging, maybe give it a go? Richard in NZ
  5. Thanks again Steve for your continuing support and absolute goldmine of information. Richard in NZ
  6. Seems the Sealand was 1/103 or thereabouts: http://www.oldmodelkits.com/index.php?detail=23486&cat=Civil Aircraft Richard in NZ
  7. Fascinating thread Adrian, thank you. Some Frog kits were produced here in NZ in the late 1960s. Two which I recall clearly are the Beaver and another which I have not seen mentioned in this thread, the Short Sealand. They were nicely produced in silver plastic, but out of my pocket money range. I do recall seeing Sea Vixens on display in a Wellington NZ shop just at the point of Frog's demise; they were expensive by the standards of the time, and took ages to sell. This was in the early 1970s, and the shop still exists (though it has moved up the road) which may set some kind of record for model shop longevity. I did buy the Sea Fury and build it in 1972 or so. Thanks again for the thread. Richard in NZ
  8. Excellent to see, but interesting choice ahead of Wasp, Scout, Skeeter...? Richard in NZ
  9. Beautiful model, well done! I find it faintly ironic that the wonderfully titled "Ministry of Emergency Situations" uses the Tu-134, which has in its time generated several such situations... Richard in NZ
  10. But if the G was so good why did you give them away to us? Richard in NZ
  11. The RNZAF is still operating the C-130H, we could send you one when finally they are out of service. After all, you were so generous in letting us have your Skyhawks... Richard in NZ
  12. But the boxes say "VACUFORM and injection moulded parts"...??? Richard in NZ
  13. Nice work! I built this kit in 1969... Richard in NZ
  14. This is a fascinating topic, HG. Given that the Danes are a careful and frugal lot (I am half Danish) I sincerely hope that the RDAF sued its paint suppliers. Richard in NZ
  15. Missing Link models did a 1/48 gun pack which appears to be in stock at Roll Models under ref MLM48023 for $US3.00. I bought one years ago (1990s?), very basic but may provide a starting point? HTH. Richard in NZ
  16. A beautiful model, and great to see you persevere with the Roden kit rather than going the WNW route. Richard in NZ
  17. Beautiful models from a difficult kit, the FAA scheme is my favourite. Well done! Richard in NZ
  18. Looks like you have a Christmas present from AZ, Steve! Richard in NZ
  19. Very much enjoying this, particularly the depth of knowledge and attention to detail being demonstrated by all contributors as well as Jamie. I have been motivated to start my Danish S-61A, and have cut out the required extra windows (I am using the Revell kit). I find that I will need two more of the plain (non-bulged) rectangular windows (part 16) than I have. i would like to use Revell parts for the sake of uniformity, and wonder if anyone has some spares? Please PM me if you have. Many thanks, and thanks Jamie for letting me use your thread. Richard in NZ
  20. Thank you gentlemen. A small and insignificant point, but I just wondered. Richard in NZ
  21. I have received my Victor and it is brilliant, thank you Airfix! i have wanted to build a white 139 Sqn Blue Steel aircraft for a very long time, so OOB is perfect for me. One small point, the box refers to it as a "B.Mk.2". I thought that the "Mk" was dropped from designations post-WW2, should it not be just a "B2"? Call me pedantic... Richard in NZ
  22. I hope this does actually happen. I have an enduring memory of watching from the school bus as an RNZAF MR5 took off from Evans Bay, Wellington NZ (yes I am very old) - it seemed to take forever. Richard in NZ
