A couple of questions about 1340 Flight Harvards during the Mau Mau difficulty: 1. Some photos show a coloured cowl ring and a fuselage band - anyone know what colour/s? 2. Anyone have pictures / details of the 4 x 20lb bomb carriers, and a source of such (bombs and/or carriers) in 1/48? I appreciate that the carriers might be a scratchbuilding project. Many thanks. Unless I am losing it completely (a distinct possibility) I am sure that I recall a pinned article on this site about building the Airfix 1/48 Buccaneer. I cannot find it - and yes, I tried the search function. Help please - many thanks! Richard in NZ

Note also the reference to "SSW D III 1/48 new sprues". A NEW Siemens -Schuckert in 1/48, very cool... Richard in NZ -
Thanks again gentlemen. Unfortunately I have no serial numbers of aircraft which my uncle flew in Singapore, though he gets several mentions in the excellent "Scorpion's Sting" as Flt Lt MK "Dutch" Holland. He spent the rest of the war in Changi, so preservation of logbooks etc would not have been a priority. I do seem to have struck upon a subject about which little is known, even among those who know far more than I. If I can find any info through family or otherwise I will post it here. Again, many thanks. Richard in NZ

Thank you very much gentlemen. Yes, my uncle (not grandfather) did fly in the desert but with 39 Sqn, not 84 - the Maryland was his favourite aircraft. He was posted from 39 (then flying Beauforts) to 84 just in time for Singapore to fall. I shall press on with the CA Blenheim IV and see what turns up before decalling time. Thanks again. My uncle had the misfortune to be flying Blenheims with 84 Sqn during the Singapore debacle. I wish to model an 84 Sqn Blenheim IV/IVF from the period. It appears that squadron codes were not carried, just individual letters. Can anyone provide me with a code letter / serial link up for such a Blenheim? Many thanks in advance. Richard in NZ

This may be a silly question, but it has puzzled me ever since Sir Tim Wallis crashed his Griffon Spitfire by putting in "wrong" rudder on takeoff. Why did Rolls Royce decide that the Griffon engine should turn in the opposite direction to the Merlin, thereby complicating the transtion between Spitfire marks for hundreds of pilots? I look forward to the many "you should have known that" answers! Richard in NZ
