  1. Trojan thanks for the heads up, I'd not seen the conversion, it dose look the same but I'm going to press on with the milliput option at $24 it's a wee bit too costly for this project. Steve I have seen them; very useful they are too! It's N43RF "Miss Piggy" I'm going to build. The two airframes are slightly different so I have to be sure I get the detail correct right from the start! John
  2. Hi Mike and Col, I've not got the decals sorted, the hardest part for me will be the "US. Department of Commerce" on the fuselage I can only print them on my PC on ink jet paper, not the best option! The blue Chet line is quite easy I'll do the same as I did on my NOAA C.130 ( Uncal sam's weather girls) use decal. As for the lumps and bumps Col I'm not sure yet I'll have to have a root around and see what I can find. The Ray-dome under the nose I'll make from Milliput, well that's the plan! John
  3. Well here go's, my first WIP! I'm not sure how long this will take as there is quite a lot of work involved. This is what I'm aiming for! First photo is the fuselage halves marked out for the new windows. John
  4. thanks for the info, I think I'd have to pass on the Hasegowa kit on price but the Revell one sounds like it would be one to look out for. John
  5. Thanks guys! This is the first F.104 I've ever built so I can't compare it to any other kit but I found the AMT kit to be very nice, good fit good detail,if I build another one I think this will be the kit I go for. Si no, I started this a bit ago and just finished it this weekend. The next project is an Orion, this may take a wee bit more time, watch this space! John
  6. Arie If it's the F.27 I've seen on the web with the red cheat line than I think it will work fine, I did a similar thing on my NOAA Hercules and will be doing more of the same soon. John
  7. Latest one down the line. Hope you like it! john
  8. I agree completely, the PR.9 looks even more sleek in High speed Silver than camo. John
  9. Thank Steve, Séan and Arie. Arie I have to come clean, there was no masking all the stripes were done using blue decal, with very fine white lines overlaid, but that was quite taxing in itself. Yes you've got to admire them NASA/Research pilots, what a job.
  10. Good to see you build a proper aeroplane at last! That's a nice looking 9 keep it up! John
  11. Thanks all, it was a challenging scheme to reproduce but I'm happy with the end result. John
  12. Thanks Obi good old Halfords Appliance white! Can't beat it John Thanks Si this one's been on the back burner for a log time I've just added the finishing touches. John
  13. Hi All, this is one I've wanted to build for a long time. Home made markings and Mod's. It's used by Glenn Research Center as an Icing Research Aircraft. Thanks for looking. John
  14. I too think Aeromaster was the best ever paint, and have found nothing that comes close, but have you tried Revell acrylic paint? I'm finding them quite good, better than xtracrilics. John
  15. Nice Wellybob! More power to the hairy stick!! John
  16. No! I've had to move in to the loft now and that's filling up rapidly. John
  17. Thanks Mark, I have 8 1/48 scale Canberra's built and another 6 I want to build; PR.9, T.17, B.20, U.10, RB.57E B.57G then that is IT!!!!!! (unless ) As for decals I'm still trying to find a "good" ink jet decal paper. I had to do the "nose" art on white self adhesive CD label, not ideal, it looks better on the photo than it dose in life. At some stage I'll hand paint it of clear decal. John
  18. This is the 1/48 Classic Airframes B.57B with the nose off the CA B.2 (thanks Chris) to back convert it to a RB.57A. I also detailed the camera bay. The squadron markings are home made, 1st TRS, 10th TRW. Thanks John
  19. Don't you dare defect Rolf! I for one would miss your fantastic Luftwaffe masterpieces. Thanks too Goon John
  20. Sorry Philp I wasn't sure how much you needed to know Nice photo's! The aerials under the bomb bay doors were done with Aeroclub aerofoil strut the chaff/jamming pods under the wing I think are F.4 tanks but I can't quite remember now. If you need photo's or any more info send me a PM I'll be glad to help with what I can. John
  21. Thanks again for all your kind comments. I've not had any other experience of Mach2 kits other than the RB/WB.57F's but I've not found them too hard and as I've said I'm having more of a fight with the high planes RB.57D. I have got an RB.45 Tornado to build so let's see how that turns out! John
