  1. Gorgeous finish, really like the finish you create on your builds.
  2. You've absolutely nailed the weathering in my opinion, one of the best I've seen.
  3. Stunning build, whilst I agree about some of the comments on panel lines, the artistic result is a delight. Hard to believe this is 1/72!
  4. Thanks Colin, yes, another 'What-if' of an alternative British history. Compare the aviation world of yesteryear to what we now, the sky full of tubes with two engines....quiet engines too! Thanks, yes a bit of clean up needed. The paint is MRP with their semi-matt over a coat of their gloss which I used to seal the decals in. Real BA Negus aircraft appeared to lose their shine over time so I wanted to capture this 'in service' look. The rattle is quite annoying, I just hope the dancing doesn't catch on with the other passengers! Yes, something we might find in Thunderbirds! done a bit more over the last couple of days. The undercarriage is very basic with doors that would way a couple of tons real world! I've cut the oleo section out of the front gear (assuming this is what was there) and replaced with a brass tube and added the scissor legs. Also started to either thin or replace the doors to give them a more scale thickness: And de-riveting the rotors before re-detailing them: Cheers Neil
  5. I've got loads of them although I think most are for the Airfix kit but may have a few Revell ones too. I'll have a look later. If not too fussed on accuracy, don't they provide the flat panels too as an alternative? I know airfix do.
  6. No, I don't think it will, the handle the rear end slightly differently unfortunately.
  7. Thanks Heather I spent a few hours looking through the options, I reckon all would of looked good! There's something about the simple Negus look that graced the airliners that kept bringing me back to that scheme though! Cheers Rory Hi Bill, I looked at doing the red / blue lettering but it looked too light and a test print wasn't as sharp as some decals I had so I've gone with using some proper decals. I'm quite happy with the look in the end Thanks, I might join in that one, it's been a while since I did a GB. Cracked on this morning, the fuselage is pretty much done, just need to add some serials. Dreading sorting those props and the rotor out, they look fiddly! One of the figures has broken loose from their seat inside so we now have an annoying rattle when I handle it! Sticky out bits soon! Cheers Neil
  8. sorry there hasn't been many updates, 1/1 stuff has been getting in the way. I have got a bit done over the last few days, there's some paint on. some tidying up to do on the Negus markings as they were masked and painted. The only choice to make now is what text format to do on the rotor mast. The tail units and wings are just dry fitted at the moment.
  9. Looking forwards to this, especially laden with nurses!
  10. I've watched several of his now, really great to follow. There's no escape for Muut & Geoff now, they're sealed in forever! Bit more progress earlier. Masking has begun. The framing on the left hand side has been corrected and the window rails added. Mutt ready for take-off! Once primed, I'll be able to see what tidying up is necessary before re-riveting and final paint.
  11. That's one for later, thanks Got the pilots painted last night and simple rudder pedals added. Their faces look like the melting face scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark, but they're tiny in real life so all is forgiven Airfix! and added an overhead panel, but sod all can be seen through the distorted canopy, but at least we know it's there! The canopy has since been fitted and gaps sealed with Revell UV glue ready for sanding to tidy it all up. Cheers Neil
  12. I don't know how your eyes survive all these tiny builds Bill! Great progress though
  13. Thanks Bill, need to do more what-if's, great fun! Thanks, it's MRP Super Silver. A bit more done this evening, the only thing to add now is some wing tip lights but will probably add them towards the end of the build. There's a little intake on top of the nacelles from what I can see so used an airliner decal, far neater than trying to paint them! Need to get the pilots painted next so I can close the cockpit up and get it all masked. From what I can see on photo's, the exhausts are a beige colour so tried to do something similar.
  14. Not done much this week, but did manage to get the fuselage together. I made the mistake of adding tabs to one side of the fuselage only so this caused a step that needed lots n lots n lots of sanding to hide the join. Also got some silver on the wings. I'll get the masks on next then do some light riveting and rescribing around the fuselage. I've just noticed that somehow, a couple of window blinds on the port side have dissapeared!
  15. It's turned out great, despite the things you and others have mentioned about the kit. I remember building this as a kid, but any pain in the build has been forgotten amid the sands of time! Quite fancy doing one of the newer Kinetic ones.
  16. This is brilliant! Definitely one to watch and learn from. I used to have days of fun as a kid adding damage to builds, but somewhere a long the way, imagination evaporates. This is rekindling those memories and a desire to have another go! Cheers Neil
  17. Thanks Mal. The thing that struck me with the recent releases from Airfix is how the finesse of the surface detail has come a long way since the B-17 and Lancaster. If the ME410 and Gannet are anything to go by, the new B-24 is going to be amazing. Thanks, definitely worth experimenting with. Cheers Adrian, it's hard getting that balance when you want to faff! Perhaps wait until the Airfix release, I'll be getting at least one! Cheers
  18. Brill, thanks Bill, I'll do it in my trusty Powerpoint! Thanks Colin, had great fun with that! Thanks Bill, might have to get a copy then. It's a tight squeeze in there, but also quite visible so going to have a go! The pilots look like rigo-mortis has set in, maybe it was quite a nerve racking experience flying this beast and they were scared stiff? Can't wait to see your Z, never even heard of a Z until the posts on this build! There are some gaps around the edges of the cockpit clear parts so I got some of the Revell UV glue that I read someone recommending on here as it dries clear and can be used as a filler. Had a quick test making a blob and it's great. The blobs can be made into landing lights too! Cheers Neil
  19. No apology needed, the ideas really add to the What-if imagination It started out as a quick build, but bit by bit, I keep adding to it in a good way!
  20. Hi Bill, will you stop feeding me great ideas? 🤣 You've put my little brain into a meltdown now. I started off with a scheme in my mind, now between you and Matt @Back in the Saddle, there are 3 potential schemes. One with blue at the bottom, white on top, one with red on top and now this with blue on top! The stacked logo would fit the rotor gearbox better, so half tempted with this logo (if I could kindly ask for a copy of the PNG?) and the original blue bottom, white top scheme with Negus tail. The other idea you have given me is the radar dome on the nose, so I'm trialling a cut down bomb as I guess a radar would be useful in service! What are your thoughts Bill? Are there useful reference pics? Stop pondering and buy! More progress today: Added a bit of detail to the cockpit. Also sanded the upper frames off the canopy as they are wrong as @Heather Kay pointed out and repolished the area. I'm going to put the pilots in to stop the passengers from getting too concerned! They also hide the rather simplified seats! Just waiting for some new micro drills to turn up so i can drill some holes for rudder pedals. And the pax area is now stuck in. Had some 5g / 10g weights arrive earlier from Mr Amazon after the tip from Chris @cngaero so can put some of these in behind the cockpit Also gave the pax windows a polish with car polishing compound rather than using klear on them. Cheers Neil
  21. Ha ha, the difference is, I've paid for these to be aboard so they can each have two seats and more 🤣 Thanks Chris, I haven't seen these before so will go and have a look They certainly did, most things look the same these days
