  1. FWIW NorthStar,RESKIT,Res-IM and Equipage all do wheels for all F-15 varaints in 1/72...they are all from the Russian Fed/Ukraine etc but are nicely moulded,I've used the 1/48 sets from RESKIT and RES-IM before and I'm currently awaiting delivery off some more for my 3 F-15 GB projects. Just search EBay using 1/72 F-15 wheels and they should all come up.
  2. LOL...total stash is well over 800 kits, more than I'll ever build in my life time if I'm honest...yet i still buy more. I don't drink or smoke, too old for going out partying at the weekends so will normally buy atleast one kit per month. Storage can be a issue sometimes..
  3. Its OOP so you'd have to check around. Flightdecs have it in stock for $26USD...check about 2/3 down the page. http://flightdecs.ca/a_furball_48.htm Shipping from Canada to the US should be that much, and i know from experience with Flightdecs if says in stock...they actually have it in store...not we maybe about to get it like some other online stores.
  4. It'll on;y be the pilot/ground crew names...nothing that exciting
  5. Good catches Levi, thanks for adding
  6. Not to my knowledge... Danny Cormans was selling the sheet i have on the Daco/Astra webpage with no instructions for 15 Euro's...i bought 2 many years ago. His Webpage list only a single 1/72 sheet and a single 1/48 sheet left for sale...
  7. Beautiful Buchon Glad to see you've figured out Flickr too, this thread is too good to lose it to the waste of space that is Photobucket
  8. Build #3 Academy F-15C MSIP Built as 84-0009 53d Fighter Sqn, Summer 1994 'Balls9' as she was known was painted in the markings of the 52nd Fighter Wing Commander shortly after the transfer of the 53d FS to Spangdahlem after Bitburg's 36th FW deactivated due to the 1993 BRAC drawdown of USAF assets following Desert Storm and the thawing of East/West cold war relations. As with the other builds it will be mostly box stock,Aftermarket resin seat/wheels/FOD covers, marking with be sourced from various sheets and custom printed items as nobody has ever done decals for Balls9. More updates to follow
  9. Build #2 Academy 1/48 F-15C MSIP kit....but built as F-15A 77-0132 the Wingking jet of the 32nd Fighter Group based at Soesterberg AB,Netherlands 1993. Markings will be taken from both the Dutch Decals and the rare never offically released Astra decals sheet. Aftermarket parts will include resin seat/wheels/FOD covers and weapons. Updates to follow...
  10. Right then... Gotten nothing done so far..lol, Touring cars at Snetterton last sunday and a busy week at work has prevented any modeling. Also couldn't decide on which jet i wanted to build so pulled another 2 Academy MSIP kits from the stash(will start new threads) but most of the construction will be shown here, new threads will be for painting/markings/final reveal. So the main subject of this thread... F-15C 79-0078 22nd Fighter Sqn,36th Fighter Wing Bitburg AB,Germany 1992 The jet will be wearing its markings from the 1992 William Tell gunnery meet held at Tyndall AFB that year,Decals will be from Twobobs. The kit will be pretty much box stock apart from resin seat,wheels...and some intake FOD covers so i don't have waste time with the Academy give you. Waiting on a set of the new Meng 1/48 weapons to arrive as during this timeframe they were still using AIM-7M Sparrows...not included in the F-15 kit. More updates to follow shortly.
  11. The very old Microscale 71-185 sheet has blue options IIRC
  12. Keep gluing away...you'll get there in the end
  13. Interesting they give you a RAF option,I always thought the nose was different for the Shorts Tucano T1 because of the engine swap, plus afew more smaller details...Airbrake?. Will pick one up to go with my Super Tucano in the stash
  14. That's just the overflow Eagle pile, main stash is in the closet and stands at approx 130 1/48 F-15 kits...was more but I dumped about 30 or so premium Ltd Ed or High Grade Hase kits on EBay a couple of years ago.
  15. Can't help with the paint matches, but the jet were painted locally in Angola so using exact Russian colours may not be necessary.
  16. Welcome to the GB Holger Looking forward to your build
  17. Stu, Which jet and decals do you plan on using? If you know its tail number and timeframe, you can make a educated guess as to what spec it was.
  18. OK...10+ years ago on another site I co-hosted a F-15 GB I started a very basic upgrade list,I'll remove the names of the original posters and just paste the info, most of which is still correct. Firstly not an upgrade...but its always coming up .. Bay 5 colours. F-15A (all) blue/green metallic F-15C AF 78/79 production blue/green metallic F-15C AF 80-86 white. Both Murph & Waco & Dave Whalen have noted before in other threads about the odd exception to the rule.having seen the odd dark grey(gunship grey maybe?) Bay 5... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Upgrades. F-15A/B/C/D first use of the late style tail boom containing TEWS Antenna,AF 84+ MSIP F-15C/D first use of the Lau-129 rails late 1991 Removal of the 'stinger' between the engines,1994/95 F-15A/B/C/D (F-15E never fitted with it) addition of AN/ALQ-135B antennas to nose aft of Radome late 1995. Wing strengtheners..not sure on this one,i first noticed them around 2000 but they may have been around earlier.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- F-15E Air intakes on side of F-15E CFT's, all F-15E's fitted with the -229E engines ie F-15E 90-0227 to F-15E 01-2004.they are not fitted to any AF 86-89 jets. GPS Dome, late 2000/early 2001.first added to new build jets F-15E-61-MC i think, then retrofitted to all earlier machines. late style 'chisled' TEWS antenna also appeared around this time.. Thats about all i can think of off the top of my head...if you know anything i've gotten wrong or missed please feel free to add it.. cheers, Gary Finally remember if in doubt..check your reference's!!...many of these mods were done at depot level,so there's always going to be alot of issues with exact timeframes as a certain jet goes in for maintenance There are some mistakes in there. D models that rolled off the line as MSIP jets (84-0042 and later) had the tail antenna, while tubs that went through the conversion didn't. In addition the C models have gone to the chisel shaped antenna back there, rather than the rounded dome one. Just to expand on the list you would have to add the following: Replacement of the Escapac seat with the ACES, not syure on the timeframe probably around 1977. Chaff/flare dispensers added in the late '80's. E model stick grip added mid-90's. Speed brake fairing changed late in the A model production run. Canopy breakers added to seat around 1990. Sabre drains removed 94/95. LAU-128's phased in beginning March 1991. Most (all?) active duty A models did not have the ICS (jammers) installed, so the black boxes were not in Bay 5, and some units (like the FIS's) didn't have the two small ICS antennas under the nose. Guard A models had the modified formation light strip installed on the left side of the jet (to make room for HF radio electronics) when they went through MSIP mod. MSIP A/Bs getting C/D style main wheels early to mid 1990s
  19. The MSIP Multi Stage Improvement Program was a series of updates rather than one single upgrade, the Mod-Eagle scheme is a separate thing from MSIP..
  20. Given the timeframe AIM-9L Sidewinder and AIM-7F Sparrows. Or maybe Python 3's on the special canted rails. And knowing the Israeli's the Eagle would have been fully loaded for combat
  21. Yes Academy's intakes SUCK!! I normally use plasticard to fill the notches and lower lip were the holes are for the targeting pods....lots of cutting/gluing and filling to get something close to smooth intake tunnel. 9 times out of ten on my Academy Eagle's i just use some FOD Covers....lifes to short to mess with them too much.
  22. Not sure anyone has done a F-15 Escapac seat, when i built acouple of early block F-15A's and a TF-15A(F-15B) I ended up using IG-2/4 seats same as those fitted to USAF A-7D Corsair's.
  23. Nice kit,Still holding my breath waiting for a Su-30SM/MKI/MKM/MKA
