  1. I've just taken a year to wrestle my mpm/italeri Wellington into submission, so I feel the pain
  2. if you join now you'll get the mig and sabre. best to wait till the new year if you want the 109.
  3. Nice - I'm glad I've just finished my matchbox Halifax - room in the stash for this now
  4. Hi, I bought an as186 and its great. I like it, its quiet enough and as you say has a tank. No complaints here - I've owned it a bout three years now and no problems with it at all. I started with a cheap airbrush from machine mart (about £30 if memory serves me correctly) but soon 'upgraded' and bought an Iwata on ebay. Hope that helps, just remember to enjoy what you are doing and not to worry about it too much...that way leads to madness
  5. they do indeed look good. Is there a UK supplier? If not do you have a link to the necessary site? edit....oops just noticed the other thread saying hannants
  6. Indeed, they are things of beauty. I will be adding to the growing, airfix filled stash! Thanks for the pics.
  7. It looks fine here on my monitor! I have two of these in the stash, one the dam buster version and this is making me want to edge them to the top of the pile good work!!
  8. might be worth waiting for the revell ju88 due out later in the year. They are saying it will "set new standards" linky to RoG
  9. Looking good! I've built a couple of these oob recently and they scrub up ok with a bit of patience ......and filler
  10. If there is I can't find them with google, but I don't speak German so that might be the sticking point.
  11. this one perchance? 1/72 ju88
  12. I had a problem with my delivery to sunny Cumbria. As airfix sent my hawks by home delivery network and I'm out at work all day, I missed it. I rang home delivery, and asked that they go to one of my neighbours (one who is out of action with a broken back) guess what - card through the door. So I had a three hour round trip from the south lakes to their depot in Blackburn to pick it up. If they had used royal mail it would have meant a ten minute walk to the post office to pick it up. I'm a bit cheesed off to be honest, I've emailed my concerns and got the automated "we can't be bothered" reply. I doubt I'll be ordering anything off the site in the future. At current fuel costs and my taking my time into consideration, it just isn't worth it. I'm also waiting for a flying hours kit and hoping that it comes through the usual mail, if it doesn't I'll probably just tell home deliverys to send it back to airfix.
  13. What is it that they used to say about any landing you could walk away from being a good one. Well done!
  14. Crackin' job, I especially like the base. I've used these people for clear acrylic rod - recommended acrylic rod supplier
  15. I've just done my Nimrod and the decals went on fine apart from one set of serials that didn't seem to have a top layer on and so broke up. I looked at the decal sheet in the box of the one in my stash and its exactly the same. All the other decals look good to go. The kit in the stash has a separate sheet with what looks like backings for the roundels. I didn't have, or use, these in the kit I've got, but it seems strange that they were there given that it is in effect the same kit?
  16. I've stopped using micro sol/set these days. Using klear every time. I use it straight onto the matt surface of the paint. Whilst that does mean "painted" patches I find it tends to go when you overspray the matt sealing coat (I use klear with a bit of matt base). I soak the decals as usual and I don't worry about too much water getting onto the klear, it doesn't seem to affect things. I use a brush with klear on, to float the decal into place. If the decal starts to stick tease up an edge allowing the klear under it and it should float free again. I use a tissue to wick up the excess klear and pat down the decal. I don't use a cotton bud as I'm concerned about getting fluff in the klear. I haven't had a silvered decal since I started to use klear and the decals settle just the same as with microsol/set. Win/win
  17. Same as goose. The new Harriers are niiice
  18. I'm just about to chuck some paint at my Airfix whirlwind. It's a pretty good kit for its age and doesn't suffer from as much wear and tear on the mold as the recent old kits from airfix I have made. Ok it's lacking in detail and it hasn't got engraved lines etc But for £8 (inc rubbish paint and glue!) you can't complain (I'm sure the old boxings could be found for less wonga). I just wish airfix would sell it without the paint and glue, I'd do a couple more for sure. sorry!
  19. Hey, Well done, she looks great. I've just started mine. I doubt it will be anywhere near as good as yours though. It's a bit big isn't it! Goodness knows where it's going to go when its finished
  20. Just a thought, is your water trapattached to the compressor? You might want to think about using one attached to the airbrush itself. That way any mosture presenting itself in the hose will be caught before it enters the brush. The amount of mosture between the trap and brush would be as near nil as to make no difference. You might be able to move the trap you have now, It all depends on the threads and connectors.
  21. It looks great! Useing tyre black on the undersides looks so much more realistic than just plain black. All those little stencils make it look so good don't they. Whilst I am a bit of an Airfix 'fan', I must admit to liking these newer revell kits. Keep up the good work - inspiration to us all!
