  1. Hey folks, Can anyone tell me what the major colours are for the Tamiya Messerschmitt Bf109 E-4/7 Trop - 1:48? I am looking for the tamiya paint codes if anyone has them? Or where can I find them myself? Thanks guys. ZooL
  2. Thanks colin, I have mailed you.
  3. Thanks Rob, I think you really should have a crack at it is a really nice build lots of white, means lots of fun highliting the pannel lines I dont think i would even attempt it without an airbrush. TOm
  4. I will definately put one up when I finish the base, there is always one more thing to do isnt there. I am really glad I did stick with it. Cheers Tom I might put it in the garden and shelter from the rain with it. It is pretty big. Actually I have a noce spot on top of one of my speakers picked out. Cheers Tom
  5. That would be a helpfull bit of info wouldn't it? 1/48 Cheers Ben Tom
  6. Hey folks, I have an old ' dodgy' model of a P51 mustang didnt paint it great all those years ago. I have decided that I want to foil it just for s***'s and giggles. I would be most appreciative if anyone has any spare decals for this aircraft or something similar that wont look out of place. No problem if not, just trying to save myself from ruining it with my dodgy painting skills. Cheers guys. Tom 1/48 by the way, well pointed out Ben
  7. Hi Guys Here are some piccies of the tsr2 I have just finished. Its pretty much OOB apart from some detailing on the gear. Thanks to all who gave advice on this, I am pretty pleased with it its my first go with an airbrush and my first model for a long time...nearly 8 years. I had a few problems, canopy discolouring because of the glue, decals stayed silvered (apparently there is some magc liquid that should fix the problem, will give it a go) and DUST DUST DUST! never thought it would be a problem but apparently so, I didnt have a box big enough to put it in whilst it dried. Maybe something smaller next time. Cheers again All comments are most welcome! Oh and the stand isnt quite finished yet. Build thread is here for those interested Here
  8. Hi Folks! Finally finished it last week havent had a chance to post the pics untill now. I will just put the one pic on here the others will be on the ready for inspection bit! Cheers for everyones help. I have already started my next project - spitfire VB will do another WIP for those interested, as always any pointers are welcome!
  9. jebus, didnt realise how titchy it was untill i saw the paint tins. good work there dude!
  10. really nice work, its great to see some figures in the aircraft for a change. excellent! Tom
  11. Yay. my spitfire arrived today. It seems a really nice kit, much more detailed than the airfix ones. The pilot (there are 2 for some reson) is so much better than I am used to, will have to make more effort than usual to get him looking good. He does seem a little bigger than the airfix ones i have had in the past, he certainly wouldn't fit in my tsr2. Thanks to those that helped me choose this kit now i have to build it. Cheers Tom
  12. I have come to think that you scratch builders are complete nut jobs.... or maybe im just jelous of your awesome tallent! Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing how thisturns out!
  13. Sucess! I managed to remove the canopy without a problem and was looking for something to polish it with, I didnt have an klear or fine paper, i did however have some brasso handy and thought I would give that a try. It seems to have worked really well with a bit of buffing with a duster. Cheers guys. TOm
  14. I am hoping that I wont have to find out, havent quite given up on my canopy yet, the strange thing is that I didnt use super glue just the humbrol liquid poly perhaps it reacted with the paint. Cheers Tom
  15. Thanks for your input guys, looks like Tamiya is the clear winner. I have just ordered it hopefully it will arrive this week. I have also ordered some tamiya acrylics, have always been a humbrol enamel guy in the past so it will be something new to try. Cheers Tom
  16. buggeration! Nearly done, just a couple more bits to assemble. I thought that i would remove the masking from the canopy. And look what I discovered. something hasgone a little wrong somewhere. Clearly something has reacted with the inside of the plastic which has given it a amoked appearence. I dont think that it is the co-pilot heavy breathing but anything is possible....buggeration"! front canopy isnt too bad but you can still se that it is there poo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Thats the aircraft i was wanting to do! pretty in the desert cammo. Did fancy the 109 are there any other possibilities? thanks for the advice
  18. Jebus! like the detail! What scale you working at there?
  19. H hector, being bit of a novice, what is micro sol? I had noticed it not going into the pannel line, but didnt think there was much i could do. Cheers Tom
  20. Well i have well and truely gotten the bug again. I haven't yet finished my Tsr2 that has brought me back to modelling and am already looking to my next project. And they say crack is addictive. My question is this... which is the best 1/48 spitfire kit to go for? I want the desert Vb model but am not sure what manufacturer to go for. I have always been an airfix man in the past but am more than willing to try something else. Price is an issue so even if it is a better kit but is too many pounds it could be a problem. Also I think i want to give it an Adversary, what would be an appropriate axis fighter aircraft? 109 perhaps? Thanks in advance Tom
  21. Dodgy decaling!?! Doesnt seem to be hiding it much with the satin varnish, oh well you can only see it in certain lights from certain angles, perhaps it wont be seen!
  22. I didnt gloss fiish it. They went sraight onto the satin enamel, should I have done?. The problem is in the areas around the decals where it is transparent it looks glossy in these areas. I will post some pics soon. Cheers
