  1. Continuing from where we left off last time. Cutting, fitting, Sanding, fitting, scratching head, sanding, talking to myself, talking to the dog, and myself, Sanding, crank up the tunes, Ect! Not a good fit, Squared up a bit. Better, Wing is fitting a bit more evenly, the gap is pretty uniform now. Radiators, and air intake, fitting well enough after a bit of cleanup. Air intake didn't have a hole, cut it out. Canopy fitting better. to be continued
  2. The working plan right now is to continue to cut out all the parts I can, and get them fitted as best as I can. Once I have that done I'll come up with a more finalized plan. However, everything is subject to change with little to no notice. Kit parts will be used as much as possible. The landing gear correction seems to be a good idea and it will definitely be looked at. I got a lot done yesterday cutting and fitting pieces. I'm nearly done with this portion of the build aspect. I'm not going to build in the wing guns. There really isnt much there to begin with. Armament panels will be glued in. There's other wing work to be done. I have a good idea of how to tackle the control column build, but the seat is still bugging me. The Buchon seat is available but with shipping is about 65 USD. That's what I paid for this kit off Ebay. So I need to either make it from scratch, or cut down the one from the kit. That could work if I don't screw it up. I didn't want to cut too many parts loose off the other kit, so that is part of the thought process as well. But at the same time I could just plastic bag them up with labels. Soo, yea, lots to think about. Jeff
  3. Continuing with getting the bulkheads fitted with the wing in place and we are looking a little better. The wing gap isn't quite as bad but I can still slide a piece of card stock in the gap. I'd rather sand a shim in place than have filler putty. Spitfire-ish The bulkheads sit well on the wing panel. This might even clean up a bit more. Thanks for looking comments and ideas welcome.
  4. Thinking about the wing, the need to add dihedral and a spar. Checking some fit issues. Even with some added dihedral there will be a bit of a gap. A shim will be the cleanest route here. The fillet area should be a little easier to deal with. Like the man said, Obie,Dobie, Dobie do, we got some work to do!
  5. Joys! An interesting word choice for this situation. 👌 🤪 I do remember having a struggle with the old MPC kits. Well be back on the bench in a few hours. I have to actually go out and about and act like a normal person. Yuck! Gas Groceries Pharmacy Pool store Then house chores, my week off is quickly nearing its end.
  6. No Lies told with that statement. The new kits are very nice. I've been cutting out, Sanding and fitting parts all afternoon. Not bad work if you can get it. However, every part leads to another part that needs fitting and cleaning up. It's beginning to feel like I need to cut and fit every single part Got the firewall fitting better. Of course then I needed to .ake sure engine cradle was gonna be where it needed to be.
  7. If anybody says the bottom of the acft is too dirty, tell them they are wrong. I have washed a lot of acft, military and civil. Bottom side were always filthy.
  8. Time to bust out this kit to make patterns. Control stick first, then maybe that seat.
  9. Yes Sir I did see that awhile back, and I saved your thread I will be using that thread!!
  10. OK, going to concentrate on building out the cockpit to look like something a little better than lumps of sorta spitfire parts. UK Acft explored on you tube is a huge help in this. Just going to build one piece at a time until,...... Well, until!! First up is to get these parts fitting better, as well as cleaned up, Sanding sharper edges, or just making new pieces. Started on the instrument panel. Sanded the face off, made a new backing plate and glued it together, then filled the IP holes with putty. I had to cut that small piece off the panel face for now. It's the sight mounting piece. It didn't li e up with the brass plate correctly. Going to need a bit more fitting, but it's very close. The top fits well enough, but the bottom curved portion will need some work, and checking wing fitment. Same for the other former station pieces. We'll be back after this message from our sponsors.
  11. Cut out and cleaning flash off parts to get a better idea of just how I want to move forward. I stripped the engine back down, just wasn't happy with how it was looking and drying. Got the IP sanded flat for airscale parts to go on. I do have a plan for this. These are pretty bad. Think I'll see about making a control column.
  12. That's would be fine, I did post the 5 pics in the completed gallery. I think it's at the top of page 2.
  13. Looking at the spinners. I have the Mark V spinner to replace the kit Mark I spinner. Still gonna do a bit more research. We'll see where it all goes.
  14. These panels fit pretty good.
