  1. @Julien Some of my Luftwaffe T-33 "in service" pictures have both black dieelectric panels, some not. Checked my documents and found the upper is the housing for the AN/ARN-6 Radio Compass Antenna and the second one below is the housing for AN/ARN-18 Radio Antenna. Document says only T-33A-5 have the below antenna installed.
  2. Yepp, looks like printing or design error. Seems the white border of 9444 is also not printed on the sheet? Early Luftwaffe T-33 did not have the white border but at this timeframe it should be present. Serial below the German banner is also wrong.
  3. Shure, it was photographed at NAS Eggebek MFG 2 before 20. November 2001. On this day it crashed during takeoff.
  4. German Tornados RAL 7012 for older schemes, single grey scheme the same color as fuselage FS 35327
  5. You mentioned above not to post the Amarillo font. The USAAF font looks slightly different.

  7. The external delinker on the German F-104 was removed in the end of the 60´s: The 20mm ammunition was contained in a single container that weighed around 90 kg. It was led to the cannon via a canal system. The belt links of the spent ammunition were removed to the outside during use until 1967. The cases collected in the designated case space. However, this procedure was later reconsidered and consequently changed due to problems with the ejection or throwing off of the belt links and the associated damage to the cell. The belt links got caught during ejection and blocked the on-board cannon of the F-104G cannon and/or only tore off in a larger bundle. That's why the so-called external delinker on the Starfighter was quickly replaced by an internal delinker, which now pushed the belt links together with the cases back into the ammunition drum. From then on, the belt links were collected next to the sleeves in the sleeve room. This change naturally meant that due to a lack of space, the ammunition used was reduced from 725 rounds to a maximum of 420 rounds. For example, according to a regulation (TA-FL 512), the F-104G Starfighter in the interceptor role was only given a maximum of 260 rounds, the fighter-bomber Starfighter with around 390 - 420 rounds.
  8. 10 seconds shows the ammo load on a German F-104: Youtube
  9. Yes, in the German F-40 "Flugzeuge der Bundeswehr" series about the F-84F.
  10. Fueltanks are painted in different colors to help indentify unauthorized low level flights. Each sqd has its own colors. You can find the same on F-86K and RF-84F
  11. Germany changed the registration system in 1977. Prototype 01 D9591 became 98+01 Prototype 04 D9592 became 98+05 Other types follows, like the BWB Bronco and Condor G.91 (99+XX)
  12. Interesting what Airfix choose for the Marine Tornado. 21+03 was the tactical code of a German F-104. They also choose the colors of the Marine F-104, RAL 7012 and silver belly RAL 9006 for the Tornado. The German Tornado never carried this color combination. Top was RAL 7012, belly RAL 7035 for the Marineflieger. First Tornado in Marineflieger livery was prototype 04, serial 98+05 Crashed April 1980 during a flight display rehearshal, killing both crewmembers.
  13. Xtracolor should be real close. X251, X254, X255. About the loadout: On most pictures only the fueltanks and the Mauser 27mm are installed. Sometimes Rocket pods, on a double bomb carrier Matra 250 or BL 755 bombs on the inner pylons if the fueltanks are installed. Dont know if there are available in 1/72 scale. Wingman Models made the DBC, the Matra and the BL 755 in 1/48 scale. Its in German Language, but there is a picture in the review how the double bomb carrier looks if installed.
  14. The Alpha Jet 41+50 in the first profile is painted in the newer "Norm 83B" scheme. Colors are FS 34079 and RAL 7021 for Norm83B Colors are RAL 6003 and RAL 7021 for Norm 83A
  15. RAL 6014, RAL 7012, RAL 7001. Every German F-84 had ther own camouflage pattern.
  16. @Shorty84 I did not use TL, but I read sometimes on German forums they are good qualiy and the usual silkscreen quality. Hahen should be also usefull and beside the iron cross they also include the same style of digits on top (DIN 1451) and bottom of my drawing I posted above for different scales. The only difference compared to TL is they are printed using professional digital print technology from the signmaker industry on continuous carrier film. So you have to cut out each decal separately. But I think that should be no problem.
  17. Markus, TL is a good choice, if the codes are painted in that DIN 1451 style. The problem is they used different styles at the paintshops at Manching, Erding and Jever. Top and bottom is included in the HoPh sheet for the F-4F in Norm 81. The MiG 29 looks slighty different, but maybe Ed can life with that.
  18. The serial is written on the tail below the German banner. This is common for all German aircraft. Maybe it is overpainted on the special painted 29+10. About the tactical codes: You have luck, the "West German" MiG 29 and most of the F-4F Norm 90J and Norm 81 were repainted at the same paintshop at Jever / Germany. And both use the same style of tactical codes. So I think you can use the HoPH decals, the difference is negligible. The sheet contains two types of styles used for the F-4F. Overhauled at Manching and Jever. Size for both is the same, 300mm high. The difference is the size of the cross on the side of the fuselage. On MiG 29 it is 350mm, F-4F it is 400mm. For the wings it is 400mm for both types. Two crosses applied, uper left wing, bottom right wing. Size of the German banner is 250mm x 150mm. Hope this helps.
  19. They should have all the same size of 1 Inch high (25,4mm) stencil type. Norm 81 the serial is painted in black. You need Norm90J decals or similar. Color is Basaltgrey RAL 7012 on all grey camouflage schemes. Example, for F-4F, tactical code 38+37 it should read: LUFTWAFFE-F-4F-72-1247 For Luftwaffe Tornado, tactical code 43+10 it should read: LUFTWAFFE-TORNADO-4010 For MiG 29, tactical code 29+10: LUFTWAFFE MIG-29 29+10
  20. Cant speak for the KLu, the Marineflieger F-104 and Tornado looks sometimes heavy weathered too. F-104 MFG2 Tornado MFG 2 Looks not so dramatic like the Danish F-104, I think the green color pigments tends to fade a lot more quicker compared to the grey. Another question is how often the RDAF repaints the aircraft during overhaul.
