  1. I think The RE8 will have to be purchased in the New Year - my first biplane....
  2. Hi question: In the Haynes Lancaster workshop manual, several of the pics of the BoBMF Lanc appear to show the escape hatches in the top of the fuselage open whilst in flight - does anyone know why?
  3. Fastest was 24 hours - local club had a Le Mans Modelling weekend - build any car that had competed at LeMans, start at 4pm Sat, turn up finished next day at 4pm. My 250GTO was a DNF as I hadn't fitted the inner guards.....
  4. Don't keep a record on hours spent per kit, but have a list of purchase dates, date started and date completed - record is Dynavector Hornet - bought in June 2000, started a couple of months later, and now is primed ready for paint.....
  5. I see you use water colour masking fluid - can you still spray enamels etc over this? and what do you use to remove the masking fluid?
  6. Actually, one account I read suggested that Germany was further along with atomic research than the Allies, and had the war in Europe continued another 12 months, and assuming the Germans had a suitable bomber (He177?), the radio active craters would be in London and Moscow......
  7. Hi - Trade completed - thanks for looking
  8. Thanks guys - something else to think about at the weathering stage then.
  9. Just curious - were WWII era aircraft primed before the camo was applied? Or was the primer coat eliminated to save weight, as long term longivity wasn't really a factor. I know restored aircraft are normally primed in a green or tan (?) colour...... If so, shouldn't weathering showing worn paintwork show a primer coat before it wears through to the aluminium?
  10. Accurate Armour do some fuel tankers, bomb tractors, etc in Resin - I have a couple, and they are very detailed kits, but they ain't cheap!.....
  11. Hi I have an unstarted, still bagged Classic Airframes DH Hornet F1/F3 (1/48) that I am unlikely to build, as my Dynavector version (my first vacform) is turning out better than expected. I don't have much interest in selling it, but would consider a trade for Classic Airframes Lockheed Hudson III/IV/V, also 1/48 scale. Bear in mind that I live in New Zealand - I am happy to pay postage to get Hornet to you, but would expect you to pay postage to get Hudson to me...... John
  12. Thanks guys - sounds like if price no object, go Hasegawa, otherwise Academy Bombcat....
  13. Does anyone know if the undercarriage length of the FW190A/R is the same as the -190D? The reason I ask is that the undercarriage of the Tamiya FW190D is apparently too short, and the only replacements I've found so far are for a FW190A/R....
  14. Hi - just wondering if any one has made either of these kits in 1/48, and what the pros and cons are compared to the Hasegawa kit, which is alot more expensive, usually doesn't include stores, and is (apparently) a bit of a fiddly build......
  15. Accurate Armour do one in 1/48 scale - maybe their website has some usable pics? I have the kit unbuilt, but as I've in NZ and the kit is awaiting shipping from a friend in the UK (and has been for the last 12 months), I can't dig it out to see what sort of plans/instructions/photos it has.....
  16. Thanks, Terry - looks like I'll be trawling e-bay, then....
  17. Is there a conversion kit to convert a 1/48 Sea Fury to a two seater? Thinking of adding to my Reno Racers by building "Dreadnought".....
  18. I suspect that most the errors ARE because of spellcheck - haven't noticed it so much in books, but in magazines I get the impression editors are using spellcheck at the expense of actually reading the text, so although the spelling of each word is technically correct, the wrong version of the word is being used - for example , "too" instead of "to" or "two"....
  19. Thanks David - I've e-mailed Obscureco re: prop and am just awaiting a reply......
  20. Depending who you talk to, they aren't the correct shape - I am definately not a B-29 expert, but as far as I can tell the kit cowls don't look correct from the front - for a start the chin intake is too big or the wrong shape?
  21. Thanks, guys - a few options for me to look into..
