  1. Ive got the D51, half way through the parts, am waiting till i have all to start it, its superb, odd little tweeks for me here and there but only because thats what i want to do, its not necessary, its superb quality, customer service is good too, and for. 1/24 fully brass and cast loco, its the same quality and prob has more parts than an equivalent 1/48 (ish) brass loco kit and 100 quid cheaper.
  2. revell 1/32 Lynx, terrific kit, IMHO the best value kit ever released, a dream of a build with lots of detail
  3. Interesting, what accuracy issue dod the FM one suffer? I didnt buy one when as i looked at it, some of the details werent right, ( gearbox thing next to cockpit nacelle springs to mind , im no afficianado bot do know it quite well, did it have shape isues?
  4. Still waiting to hear what this so called major accuracy issue is...... Even so have ordered it and im sure if there is any accuracy issue that is actual and not just ill percieved its nothing a bit of modelmaking wont sort out.
  5. A ridiculoues bit of reporting really, a comparable kit for the falcon at the same scale would cost substantially more than the £900, i have been subscribed to the D51 locomotive for a year now, im saving the build till,i have all the parts, total cost about £850 at 35 quid a month, i rarely pay 850 for a kit but would be more than happy to buy another one of these locos, the quality is excellent and its a larger scale than the 00stuff that currently costs about 1000 per kit if bought from a model train shop, am a happy customer and am gonna push the boat out and get the Falcon. Neither is without issues( pun not intended, or was it?) , i guarantee the Falcon will require a few details and a proper paint job, the loco requires soldering not gluing and some of its screws removing to get a better scale look but its a superb kit and easily worth a £35 dent in the modelling budget each month.
  6. The paint by dupont was for ford, phantom grey
  7. The falcon lost its radar dish when inside the death star in ep 6 so would have expected to seen it either missing or replaced with something else, just seems to me they have looked accurately at getting the continuity right...
  8. You are, i have just built this kit and the canopy matches the mods done on Airscales Hornet build so it is different to that of the original release and seems to be bob on the money. Cant reccomend this kit enough, i added folded wings, just wish they had included that as an option.
  9. IIRC Spitfire p7350 mk 1 was dressed in EB Z scheme, it wasalways my favourite
  10. You might want to check up on some of the anigrand 1/72 c17 builds,i have a feeling the shape of this is identical due to the wing issue you have fixed, this being the case the nose will be way off in plan view, its a reasonable easy fix on the resin kit as there is material thickness to cope with it, i dont envy you solving this on vacform that thin .( a simple slice to bring the nose together thinner might help) On the plus side for you, dropping the flaps on the vacformed wing will be a lot easier than on the resin one!!! Looking great so far , ive pulled up a chair..
  11. the Airfix Spit for me is a hands down no brainer winner over the Trumpeter kit, theres something about the patina and texture on the Airfix one i think is great, the moulds maybe a scoche older than ideal but theres something about the trumpeter kit that looks to clinical and not right(imho) theres no more work fixing the blank uc bays on the airfix kit than there is fixing the wrong angle on the trumpeter one. I usually like Trumpy kits as am not as anal as some over perfection but this is one case where i would say go Airfix
  12. Its not a 1 peice fuselage, its 2 peices, split at the strengthening band near the TE of the wing, due to the shape, no tooling in the world could create that shape in injection moulding
  13. Playing devils advocate here... The HK models 1/32 one, in about 6 months , if we cross our fingers
  14. looking at a thread on largescale planes and reading ( not very deeply ) between the lines i think there might be Lanc test shot at SMW .......
  15. An interesting point but would imagine that they have sold 8000 BECAUSE it is 1/24, would also reckon the margin on these at 80-100 quid was 4 times what it would be on a 1/48 one ( a guess but reckon it will be pretty close) meaning they would have to shift say 30000 at 1/48 to see the same return, and 1/48 kits certainly arent able to sell that many that quickly as the novelty/collectability/detail/wow factor just isnt there as 48th and 72nd stuff is, excuse the phrase'10 a penny' where as a realease of this scale and quality piques the interest of those after that 'x' factor, as you said, they havent actualy said the new release is 24th but im hoping it is as i want the wow factor that it brings and. The 1/72 and 48th stuff doesnt interest me, but whatevever it is if its a 24th aircraft, i will have a couple and await the next one eagerly, as i would imagine will another 5-6000 others over the next year
  16. they dont fly under a part 21 or 145 which would require a certificate of airworthiness or CRS, the have a permit to fly, they are however closely monitored by all NAA's including our own, the new parts are still built from original drawings so grandfather rights may well be used by airframe assembles and such places
  17. Swordfish in 1/24 is what im hoping for Gladiator is prob more likely, BoB and all that. Would be happy with a sea fury tho....... JUst really hope they do surprise us with another 1/24 kit, pretty sure the typhoon was everything they had hoped it would be, minor canopy glitch notwithstanding , read on here they had sold 8000 so far and that was a while ago, had 3 myself.. Basically if they are crafty and use a recent 1/72 as cover as they did with the Typhoon, it could well be a Gladiatior, or a Swordfish, or Spitfire, or a Zero, ( yuck hate the zero, bland and uninteresting airframe to me!!) , or a lightning, or a gnat etcetcetc!,!,!
  18. Ahh you were so nearly right, im sure you meant Yak 11, and it was just a typo
  19. Assume the vulcan was at southport today.... Was at blackpool watching the Lancasters..
  20. So are we saying that southport airshow tommorow is potentially, (probably?) its last ever airshow...???
