Thanks guys, keep digging, i would much rather have camo on the tanks!!

Were EE Lightning overwing tanks just silver or grey? Does anyone have pics of them with camo on?
Am including them in my build but would prefer camo on them as opposed to just one colour but obviously wont if that makes it wrong...

Shockloading on components alone would require so much ndt itouldnt be feasable, added to saltwater through 2 turbines,, a scrapper...

Love the idea of carrying the camo onto the stand, not seen or done that before but will do in future

As a tip for planking to make things easier, use wedge shaped planks, if you measure the circumference of the largest former (A)and the circumference of the smallest (B,) then decide on your plank width,© divide A by C and B by the answer, it will give you your taper......

On a number of reference pics i have of the F6 lightning cockpit there is soething that looks like an armrest with some sort of handle/joystick on the end that protrudes, i assume from the rear cockpit wall past the left side of the seat..... What is it?? Anyone have a pic of it attaching to the rear cockpit wall?.
Also there seems to be a gap to the left of the seat ? Between the seat and the console? Whats between the seat and the side panel?

Superb workmanship, love the cockpit and seat detail!
It's a Mk4 seat (4BSB) fitted to Lightnings, Mk2 range was very different in appearance and fitted to Canberras, Meteors & Swifts etc.
Mark, good photo reference here, https://www.silverstoneauctions.com/english-electric-lightning-ejector-seat though it doesn't look like you need it!
Thanks for that, the plans i used were from a mk 2 for the base of the seat which is the same as the 4, it enabled me to ensure it was bang on 1/6, the details were added from the site you created a link to... Not all the belts are there as there is a pilot to go in yetBUT i might change plans a little in terms of completing all the belts and make the pilot removeable and only to be sat in for flights, that way he doesnt obscure any of the detail when its on the deck with the canopy open, like i said not sure but its a possibility,
Its difficult getting really good pilots for rc aircraft, im lucky as 1/6 is well catered for in terms of dragon figures and they do do good pilots, thry tend however to be American but a little work removing the odd patch on the sleeves and a repaiint on the helmet should give me a fairly good pilot, i will be doing one with full g suit etc so kind of ok for a late lightning in the 80's at warton etc but not i think technically correct, if anyone has any suggestions or even a dragon pilot lying around, feel free to contact me ...

Nice!
Is that the Airworld kit?
it is, not bad as a blank canvas but too much money for what it is really, amd Airworld have the worst customer service in the world, the kit and retracts were paid for , in full 3 1/2 months ago, it arrived a month after the delivery date thatbwas agreed and they ' forgot' to include 1500 quidsworth or retracts, morons..

John. Looking forward to that myself BUT after a years work and multiple grands spent, the maiden tends to pucker the old butt a little to say the least!!

According to airfix and trumpeter as far as i know i have the seat details the right way round , am open to a couple of pics proving me wrong tho,PSP connections were on the stbd side of the seat on Lightning's. Im also certain the Lightning seat is a Mk 2 BS. cracking project tho.
Basically any swept wing needs to be travelling quick as the low speed tendencies arent that good, on a model like this the, the wingloading is far from scale so they tend to behave a little better in that sense, one issue they do have tho is lateral instability, partlyndue to span partly due to sweep and partly due to anhedral so what this model does require is a gyro on the aileron to cut down on pilot workload and increase the stability

About a years work I reckon, 45 lb airframe, 64 lb thrust, 9 feet long

Thought you might like to see my 1/6 Lightning, whilst it is an RC model and of limited interest here, the cockpit is essentially plastic and scratchbuild and uses all the techniques of which we are familiar .
