  1. Just blew some through an Iwata Neo 0.4mm nozzle metho without a problem. I need a new bottle of IPA and I'll try that too. Problem solved, thanks to all.
  2. Hi Steve, I fairly frequently print my own decals on ink-jet paper with my totally un-fancy printer. The results have always pleased me so long as I had a spray can of Testors decal sealant spray to protect the fragile inks. Unfortunately brushing MLDF over them tends to dissolve to inks, however long they've had to dry. Spraying other clear coats as a sealant has also been a fail, either because they damage the decal, or because the decal then becomes impervious to any decal set/sol known to man or beast. The MLDF is designed for the job, and just works. I'll give metho a go. In a cheap Philippines made $10 airbrush. Shane (BTW, acrylic thinners with ethanol base don't work all that well for cleaning a traditional bristled brush either. Meths has methanol and ethanol, which may be the winner)
  3. I'd end up buying but probably not building any or all of them if I could get them at any price in Australia. At the moment buing stuff from overseas has become a right pain in the backside. You'll just have to get them and provide a build review for me old mate Shane
  4. Has anyone tried to spray Microscale Liquid Decal Film through an airbrush? I've used it often to save older or fragile decals and applied it with a soft brush, but would like to try spraying it. So a second question is - what did you thin it with, if at all? And a third question - what did you use to clean your airbrush? I have a good selection of cheap airbrushes that I wouldn't be too worried about ruining, so it's not critical! Thanks in advance S
  5. This is in part because very likely many Swedish modellers believe that ALL Revell kits are superior to Airfix ones because of the manufacturer's name. We all know that every company has stars and dogs in their catalogue and brand alone is not the measure, yet you still see knee jerk reactions to questions of the net every day Shane
  6. Yep. A new Airfix original mould 1/35 military vehicle. Shane
  7. This is an indication of something the RNZAF knew when the NH90 was bought...political penny pinching led to buying fewer airframes than needed. Consequently the fleet is being worked very hard. Shane
  8. Somewhat the reverse of actuality. Tiger is a good aircraft but suffered from God awful support by Airbus Helicopters including a reluctance to assist with integration into the ADF networked Defence structure. RAAF is already leading development of the E-7 P-8 to tightly integrate Army, Navy and Airforce assets and the European systems on Tiger were better stripped out and replaced with systems common to or fully interoperable with our US sourced equipment. Poor logistics support, excessive cost and inability to keep up with the leading edge doomed them. Which is a pity. I like the Tiger S
  9. It's an AN/MVR-501 That's a laser detecting set that informs and assists crews with verification of impending threats from laser target acquisition weapons systems. Shane
  10. This is a challenge which is rapidly going away. For about a year now new F-35s have RAM lines which are finished in the same colour as the rest of the airfrane. There are aircraft produced during the change which still have some visible RAM lines, often on components made elsewhere before the change over while the rest are gone. Apparently as aircraft require surface maintenance they'll all get homogenised. Shane
  11. Now I only sell WW1 planes, Flutes. Too old for these jet things Shane
  12. Don't work there any more unfortunately but currently Brisbane south side. A lot more south side than before. And there might not be enough shelf space to display boxes face on now 😞 Shane
  13. Yep. That's the way we shelve new arrivals in the shop. Anyone taller than Frodo Baggins will see both box top and the side panel with decal options right side up Shane
  14. Having almost completed an Italeri kit purely to use the garish green and black scheme provided, I couldn't agree more strongly. You can get a result, but only with an enormous amount of work. Shane
  15. That's pretty arrogant. It may be so for you but don't presume that everyone does, or should, agree. Shane
  16. Ken This is what I call modelling. Keep at it, it's inspring me, and God help us, I need some inspiration at the moment! Shane
  17. It caused me to have a run of sagging undercarriage legs until I knew better. Mind you, as an old fart, I learned better almost 50 years ago but have since seen my son and others make that mistake and learn that lesson Shane
  18. Did you remove all the paint from the undercarriage leg pin and mounting hole, pitot and mounting hole before gluing? Contacta and other thick solvent glues aren't really hot enough to thoroughly melt through layers of paint and without that you're left with a little bit of dried out flexible filler holding the part Shane
  19. There is no way any of those can be injection moulded without a transverse split which will add a lot more problems than the inner wheel profile. If you want raised ridges, look at resin Shane
  20. NOT the same aircraft though. It's entirely possible that the photos of 7249 and whatever was used to design decals for 7260 are from different periods and the extra antenna are on a replacement "206" Shane
  21. I'm getting old, and my eyesight is getting worse - after starting out bad - so 1:72 is more of a challenge. I'm stubborn like that; not planning to let anything stop me from enjoying the part of modelling that most appeals - trying to miniaturise a subject convincingly Shane
  22. And as the tape is now the same colour as the rest of the airframe, you will no longer need the decals to fill in the "panel" lines. Or you won't when older airframes have been brought up to the latest finishing standards Shane
  23. Paul at The Last Stand (Corinda) had them on the shelves still as late as yesterday.... And they're still in stock going by his web page on Saturday afternoon at 4:45 Brisbane time Shane
  24. That seems remarkably unlikely. Two scale inches (a couple) is almost 51mm. In 1/48 that means the rivets on the kit protrude by over 1mm. I'd buy 0.5mm at a pinch, but looking at the photos even that is an exaggeration. Perhaps they protrude a half of a scale inch? Which is still oversized but... shane
