  1. Been following this allt he way through SB, you have done a great job with the model - well done.

I am a bit behind you and also a word to the others building this kit. If you are to display the aircraft with the airbrake down & fuel probe in, be prepared for lots of sanding, filling and dry fitting. I think out of the build so far, about 30% of my time (so far) has been on sanding and filling and I am at the painting stage!

  2. Could this stretch to 1/24 scale trucks? I have a few in the stash from old and havent built one in ages! Might give me an excuse to build the 6 x 2 Scania 4 Series I have been meaning to build for years, or a scratch built 8 x 4 Volve tipper truck.... Hmm, have to finish this Typhoon first.

If trucks don't count I have enough 1/32 in the stash to join so count me in

  3. Cheers Shaun,

Have you started your Eurofighter as yet? Just finished the seat and will get the cockpit together over the next day or so to get the fuselage together and then onto the second part of my review.

Yes, this the newer Mod Eagle scheme.
  4. Regarding Colours, I aim to do a jet like the one posted:

I presume this is the newer Modded Eagle Scheme? It certainly looks darker than the original schemes that is for sure.

As for the loop, I am really looking forward to getting back down there whenver I can.

  5. Spoken by a Cynic.... I did hear about the Eagle on the 30th but that is the only one I've known about. Still its a 400 mile round trip for me to go to LFA7, but it is certainly worth it

Its very rare to see the fighter Eagles down low.

The closest I've come, is seeing a 3 ship drop into the Bwlch at Dinas with 2 pulling out before the Bwlch turn and one continuing along the hill tops though the pass.

It will be a real scoup when someone gets one but I have a funny feeling it will be a secret set up when it happens

Not that "set ups" ever happen :hmmm:

  6. Not tried the Birds nest, I doubt I would even think of taking the car up the track on Cad East in the Winter.. Looks Like it might be Corris again!

Did you also see that an F15C came through LFA7 on the 30th October, though it did go high!

If the sun is out Cad west can be very awkward in the morning with the low winter sun, Cad East or Corris are the places to try.

Have you tried the Birds nest at Cad East?. If the small tarmac road is passable its only a short walk up a small hill to the "nest".

    Shaun.

  7. Shaun,

Will be Cad West or Corris if I do go, Depending on the path up Cad, If that is bad, the Corris Corner Shale path is more favourable. Anyway, Many thanks for the paint info, Will come in useful once I get going after I have finished the Revell Typhoon

Winter Vis can be great, but you only get short days because of the light which a good thing because 5 to 6 hours in the cold is more than enough!

Its worth bearing in mind that the Bwlch ledges are in shadow most of the day, so there's no warmth from the sun.

    Keep in touch.

    Shaun.

  8. I know the feeling, I cant help but think it might be good (but very cold up there) if the weather is right. Clear Crisp skies mean little haze.... I'll keep you posted if I do go

Hopefully making my first trip of the year in the first few weeks of Jan, I know its a mad time to be standing on the hill but "Never go, never know!"

Snow shots do look nice, if you can fight the cold!

    Shaun.

  9. Shaun,

There is a RAFAEL Litening Pod available in 32nd, I wasnt aware that the intake was different on the pod tho, many thanks for pointing that out

Were did you get the pod from?.

Also you need to remember that the RAF LITENING pod has the rear intake on the port side not Starboard like most other countries.

  10. Shaun,

Many thanks for the info. On another note, are you going to be making it to the Loop in 2010? Was planning to goin January to get some snow covered mountain shots, hopefully with planes in them!

The Current "Mod Eagle" scheme is FS36176 & FS36251.

These are avaliable in the Xtracolour range as X157 & X132 and Xtracrylix range as XA1157 & XA1132

The Lakenheath F-15C/D's are painted in the Mod Eagle scheme.

    Shaun.

  11. Hi,

I have had a quick search through the old posts in the forum but could not come up with a clear cut answer. I am looking to start my Tamiya 1/32 F15 C Eagle in the next month or so but am a bit confused by the actual colour of the plane. The instruction show a lot of mixing of paints that I am not keen to do, I was just wondering if anyone knew of the FS Numbers for the two tone scheme and/or the Xtracacrylix/Tamiya or Humbrol colours required to finish this plane off.

    James

  12. Silver burn, wouldnt you need a Litening Pod too? Available from Hannnats @ £9.60.

I am building this for www.scalemodelling now and am completing mine with 2No. GBU 16's from my Tomcat kit, bought a litening pod, and awaiting delivery of decals (11sq.) to arrive in the post...

Loving your build so far, looking ace. I am not as far in, but am finding the build quality a little disappointing. What are your views so far?

    James

Ahah! An FGR4 might be on the cards afterall...the RAF loadouts from Flightpath would seem to be identical?

    Flightpath's RAF loadout resins

Expensive for a full load of Laser-guided Paveway II/III's (I might get some Shadow storms too for either fitment or the stash), but the main snag will be the missing inner pylon in the Revell kit? It was missing in the 1/48, and is missing in 1/32 too. Any suggestions guys?

  13. Looking good so far,

regarding wing detail, I do not have much reference to this but have these two photos, I can send you the larger copies if you like?

Due to be starting mine soon (once I get rid of this cold!), Managed to find a supplier who manufactuers a Litening Pod, bought a Ground Power Unit, Got some GBU-16 from my Tomcat kit, so hopefully will be able to convert mine into a FGR4 with ease...

  14. Some great tips in there - The 15 is looking great - Regarding weathering, don't go too mad - The majority of the photos I have; the planes are not that dirty (although some have a lot of wear on the upper surfaces and replaced panels/flaking paint)... I can send you a link of one of my mates flickr sites, who has a lot of pictures of them low level in wales
