  1. Airfix do packs of the old transparent stands, it includes quite a few 1/72, several 1/ 48 size and a couple bigger than that which would do fine for 1/32.
  2. Gah! Thanks guys...struggling to not start a new section in my stash for WW2 Japanese aircraft and frankly about to give in. ☺ Have to say that ok ultimately many Japanese designs wouldn't have made much difference to the outcome of the war, they had a certain purity of design that is pleasing to the eye...to me anyway.
  3. Ah ok, didn't know they made an S5. They did a Macchi M.39 and M.52 which are hard to find and very expensive.
  4. Hi Jessica, very good! The He70, another lovely looking aircraft whose wing planform reminded me of this other aircraft...
  5. Didn't know they did an S5 in 1/48? Which manufacturer is that? Probably looking at the aircraft with the number 4 and roundels.
  6. Does look like a lovely kit doesn't it. Those wings remind me of another aircraft...can't quite place it.
  7. I've got the same issue with a 1/32 Supermarine S5 I want to build. The best thing I could find were racing drivers. Preiser do some good racing driver figures, not sure if they do 1/48 though.
  8. Hi Rob, welcome to Britmodeller.
  9. Something I did before was mix the black with red. The red doesn't show at all but it does stop the black being so...black. Tip I got from Hyperscale, apparently you can go up to 30% with the red, but I did 10-15%. Looked good on the underside of an early Spitfire.
  10. I've used PVA glue for canopies for the last few years. Surprisingly strong bond and completely non aggressive.
  11. Been working on a couple of tank kits recently, nearly done just got some weathering to do and the transfers on the Tiger, spare track links, tools etc. They're the Italeri Jagdpanther and the Tamiya Mid Production Tiger I. Used Masterclub resin tracks on both of them, really nice looking tracks but the Tiger tracks were a right pain in the butt. They don't click together like the Panther W tracks do, so you have to ream out a 0.6mm hole on the outside of the tracks and a 0.55mm hole on the inside of the tracks otherwise all the domed inside pins fall out unless you CA them all into place! Anyhoo...should be finished in the next week or two. More soon...
  12. Looks good to me. Got this kit to do myself sometime, hope it turns out half as good as yours. Made an ICM MkIX many moons ago and still think they make a nice Spitfire, although eclipsed by the Eduard kit now.
  13. Definitely be in for this GB Cliff, not sure what with yet but got lots of options.
  14. It's actually got more parts than I was expecting. The spokes could be crucial to the end product but I'm hoping it should build up quite nicely.
  15. The only Matchbox kit I have in my stash is a 1/12 Vincent Black Shadow...so I guess it would be rude not to do it.
  16. I was sure this would get through ok, always a popular subject. I'm going to be doing a 1/32 Supermarine S5 on a sea base, and a 1/48 Flashback Hansa Brandenburg W.29. Just need to find a suitable figure to go with the S5, not many interwar figures available. Might be able to adapt a Preiser racing driver.
  17. Nothing looks as much like dirt as...dirt. Something else you can do is dry some dirt out in the oven then grind it down to make very fine dirt/dust. You can brush it on liberally then shake the surplus off onto some newspaper then retrieve it.
  18. I think it's uncomfortable because it's civilians about to die in an accident. The diorama is cleverly done from a modeling perspective. It's a thought provoking discussion isn't it, what's acceptable and what isn't. Extrapolating the theme would a destroyed PanAm 103 on the ground be ok? And yet the diorama of the dying shot German soldier with his comrade calling for a medic was acclaimed by everyone as a powerful piece. Is it down to the numbers involved?
  19. I doff my cap to you Sir for tackling these in 1/72. I've got the Eduard 1/48 Baby which gives me the shudders ever time I open the box . One day...
  20. Hi Steve, the thicker straighter edge should be towards the front of the prop, the rest of the blade should curve away towards the rear of the spinner. As you look down the blade from the tip of the blade, the yellow tip should be as good as flat, almost in parallel with the base of the spinner. HTH (and makes sense...).
  21. I knew a guy in the Brighton area back in the early 80's who had a Transit with a 3 litre Essex V6 in it, didn't half shift. That engine then got put into a MkII Cortina GT, and finally into my '67 Ford Corsair.
  22. Great build of a lovely aircraft. Got the Fly 1/48 kit in my stash, hope it comes out half as well as yours. Really nice!
