  1. Fantastic fine detail on this model, really well done.
  2. Very nice! I have one in the stash so I know how challenging this kit is.

    Pup Cowling

Hi Pete, Thanks for passing on this information. I've almost finished the Pup with the kit cowling but I'll look up Brian's work for future projects. Cheers, Gareth
  4. The number of typos, spelling mistakes in most model magazines is appalling. There must be zero proof-reading or editing. I've seen several serious mistakes in the first paragraphs of the editorial itself on more than one occasion! I used to buy regularly but now restrict myself to buying three or four to take away on holiday and go through with a red marker with a pint or two. (I'm only (half) joking...) It's frustrating to sit down for what should be a relaxing read and be constantly tripping over errors (hangar / hanger), re-reading poorly constructed sentences, and encountering old cliches. (Cockpit = "office", ejection seat = "bang seat", etc) By contrast I regularly pick up Aeroplane and the reading 'experience' is totally different. Very, very few typos / spelling mistakes and excellent English composition, giving me what I want - a relaxing half an hour, both entertaining and informative. Gareth
  5. That is marvellous. I've got one of these and can see that you've added a lot of detail. Well done!
  6. Hi Gang, I've got some Blackdog figures that need DPM camo applying. I have some sheets sheets of decal by Cross Delta. I'm just wondering if anyone has used these, and if they have any tips for applying them, especially cutting them to a shape that fits the contours of the figure nicely. Thanks for any help, Gareth
  7. Marvellous - I must look further in to PIR for my lit models.
  8. Lovely! I too would like to know more about the motion sensor setup. Gareth
  9. Thanks for further comments. I made the stand from an MDF base with Coastal Kits runway blur cut to size. There's a piece of perspex bar bent to a ] shape and screwed to a channel cut in the underside of the base.. (More of a U actually, but I only had a hair dryer and a very small vise so I was quite pleased with it!) There's two magnets (6mm diameter, if I remember rightly) mounted span wise in the stand, and the under side of the wing. It's very secure, but there's not enough 'leverage' length wise, so I had improvise a brass rod in the front of the perspex to support the leading edge. With hindsight it was obvious it wouldn't support almost the full length of a Lightning, and I should have had three magnets in a triangle, but I got carried on a wave of enthusiastic assumption! (It might well work with a model with less swept wings, or a lighter 1/72 model. Cheers, Gareth
  10. Thanks for the further comments. Very cool effect in that video. (I agree about the length of the base Andy, but it didn't 'click' until I'd finished.) Gareth
  11. Really pleased to get so much positive feedback for this one. Thanks everyone!
  12. What a beautiful collection of models. I've loved seeing your posts Moa. As a life long (nearly 50 years) aviation enthusiast I've seen many types I'd never even heard of, all beautifully constructed. Thanks!
  13. Thanks again everyone. (I wondered who'd pick up on the stripes Selwyn!)
  14. Thanks for the generous comments everyone. I used a bit of artistic licence on the nose gear, as it didn’t really tell the story posed straight down. Gareth
  15. Really useful photos Antti, many thanks again. While I don't have any shots of the actual Argentinian interior, I can make some assumptions from these photos and your information. Cheers! Gareth
  16. Hi All, This is my build of the Airfix 1/48 Lightning F.6 scrambling to intercept. It's posed over a runway blur base from Coastal Kits. I had an old lighting kit lying around and decided to install it. Unfortunately the LEDs aren't bright enough to cope with the tight bends I had to put in the fibre optics for the wing tip lights so they can't be seen. The spine light works though, and I'm pleased with the afterburner glow. (It's actually more violet / blue in real life, but I had to boost the contrast of the photo and it's changed the hue a little.) This is a peach of a kit, perhaps Airfx's best. Thanks for looking in, Gareth
  17. Great information Antti - again many thanks for this, it's all new detail for me. Is that rear panel right down at the back of the cabin, with the operator facing backwards? Is there any record of the interior fit of the passenger cabin. I doubt it was standard civilian. I'm hoping there were blinds / curtains at the windows so I can model them closed and avoid detailing the interior! Thanks again, Gareth
  18. Those pictures are great Antti, it’s the fairing under the wing I was having difficulties getting reference for and these are the clearest ones I’ve seen - thank you! I take it the squares are transparencies over cameras, or are they a different sensor all together? Gareth
  19. Hi All, I bagged a Hasegawa 1/48 Lear Jet a while ago, which I intend to build as the Argentinian machine shot down over the Falklands in 1982. Does anyone have any decent drawings or photos of the sensor / camera pod / fairing under the fuselage. I've searched all over the web and found a few bits and pieces, but nothing definitive. Also, I'm wondering about the interior. Was there any special kit in the passenger cabin, or was it a standard civilian fit? Thanks for any help, Gareth

Looking at some photos, I can see your point. It looks like a one piece part.
