This unit was equipped with M10 Achillies tank destroyers, armed with 17-pounder anti tank guns. It controlled a variety of operational signals units as well as the extensive ground signals communications network at airfields throughout the country. The Signals Development Unit (SDU) moved onto the airfield on 15 April 1943, operating a rare mixture of aircraft including Ansons, Masters and Oxfords to Whitleys. Some of these aircraft had been absorbed from No. 1551 Flight, a Blind Approach Calibration Unit, which had been based at Bicester.     I've had them ages. They were in a load of model railway accessories, but I don't recall who made them You can get lots of useful diorama accessories from model railway stockists
  13. Thanks very much. Generally I build vehicles that take my fancy, although I like to build ones that tie in with my interest in local history. The 1st Northamptonshire Yeomanry had Morris Commercials in 1939 before they got their tanks. I'm currently working on a Leyland tractor and Thor missile. These were deployed at Polebrook and Harrington.

    Two Airfix 40mm Bofors guns (02314) and various Airfix figures on a Bellona (?) vac-formed base.
  15. This is a conversion from the Morris tractor in the Bofors set (02314). The wheelbase was shortened and an axle removed. I used a box from the Bomber Re-Supply Set.
