Hi Dave, I´ve got both kits in front of me and the only difference (except of the decals) are the 'wrap.arounds'. On top Revell, below Italeri:
-
I use hot water to make the plastik softer and then I use my fingers to get the right curve. Be aware, that the droop is more strongly at the rotor head and gets more weakly to the tip (because of the weight of the blade).
-
So what is your suggestion? Model Master?
-
They don´t seem to launch it in 2009... BTW: What is the best colour for the HM1? Is there for example a Humbrol-colour, that would be a perfect match? Revell wants me to mix some colours but i don´t really want to do that.

A nice and huge eye-catcher for every one room apartment!

1:72 Airfix Westland Gazelle Falklands War
ice replied to seavixenxj494's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
I like it - what´s the airfix-kit like to build? Your Gazelle turned out great! -
Build started: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=175334

That´s also mentioned in the Revell-instructions. I´d like to build a really good detailed Merlin interior and I wonder, if there are any better pics of the sonar housing than this one: http://data4.primeportal.net/hangar/howard...m1_10_of_47.jpg I´m stil scratching my head, trying to answer the question how to do the cross-hatched insulation on the walls...
-
Good points - I definitely want both features so I´ll get me an Italeri-bird.
-
The Revell-kit includes decals to build the tiger-scheme shown on the ZH860.
-
I think I´ll try a black Edding for that. Thank you! That´s not quite correct - I´ve got a Revell-kit here in front of me (No.: 04410) to build a HM.1. There is another kit (No.. 04468) to build the HC.3.
-
Great build! Grey or green? What are those refinements? I searched the web but I didn´t find a list of what are the differences. And still: If there are any interior-pictures available, I´d be more than just happy.
-
I thought about sandpaper and then apply the stripes to it. The frigates seem to have a big brass plate in the middle with many tiny holes in it - no idea what that´s for. EDIT: Here in Culdrose it looks like they painted a fake-carrier-deck on the concrete: google-maps
-
Since I´m going to build a HM1 Merlin, I´d like to place it on a flight deck. Are there any plans or pictures available, how the lines have to look like, where the tie-down-points are and how the measures should be? I´m quite flexible with the type of ship - could be a carrier (ark royal) or a type 23 frigate.
-
Are there any good interior pics available? I´d like to build a detailed HM1 (with some help of Eduard.cz) and already searched: - B-Domke - ARC - Primeportal Im looking for the sonar-console, the walkway between cockpit and cabin and the backwall of the cockpit.

If this is the Airfix-Sea King, you did an astonishing job.

...just finished the 144 Tigermeet-Puma so I have to say: Great work!
-
They have a mandate given by German Parliament for a recce mission without cas. EDIT: German Wikipedia also says: - AIM-9L - IRIS-T - AGM-88 HARM - AS.34 Kormoran 1/2 - Taurus - various unguided bombs - BL-755 (not used anymore) - Paveway III - JDAM (not yet integrated) - HOPE/HOSBO (demonstration-phase) - B61 (withdrawn from service) - MW1 - Recce Pod - Rafael Litening

Thanks you for all your kind comments!

What a nice build and i really like that camo scheme!

Thank you! Most of the stripes are decals that come with the kit. Thank you too! I bought the kit because I´m still waiting for some parts for my 1/72 kits and it started as a fun build...and it was fun until the end! I can recommend this kit to everyone.

Perhaps some of you allready know this build from arc but for all others I wanted to show my little tiger. This little fellow here is my second built in 1/144. It´s a RAF Puma that took part in the 2005 Tigermeet in Balikesir, Turkey: picturelink to airliners.net. The revised rotorhead was redone by using Styrene and some wire. A very special feature of this model is the tigerhead on the front. First you have to place a white decal and then color it. After that is done there is a transparent decal that has to be placed exactly over the first one. It´s an interesting but also quite challenging piece of work to do. The antennas at the front were redone by using thin wire. The steps below the big cargo doors were done by using wire too. Finally here is a closeup shot of the back end. Parts of the rear arm, the "handles" and the antenna in the right half of the picture where also done by using some wire. The whole kit was painted by using a brush and enamel colors from RoG. I hope you enjoy the pictures. If there are any questions feel free to ask.

Great! Thank you SO much! That answers most of my Questions. Interesting for me - there seems to be no "radio rack" between the observer place and the personell door like on the Mk.41 or Mk.48. Here´s a pic i found: http://users.telenet.be/wienne/WA%20Seakin...l/IM000946.html

That would be awesome! I´m in contact to a German Sea King pilot who learned flying the Sea King in Culdrose and who already told me that the HAR.5s are quite empty and have this huge radar screen in the cabin. Unfortunately he had no pictures. I wonder what kind of equipment is fitted, when the helicopter is used in it´s SAR-role. Stretchers? Seats? First-aid-equipment? In this flickr photo I think you can see the edge of this waterproof floor you are talking about: http://flickr.com/photos/36577807@N00/1635082074/ (Step Over)
