  1. Thank you - I like that layout too. I plan to use the print as a template and airbrush all the lines. For the tie-downs I'd like to use the pe-parts from WEM.
  2. I made a test fit and I think that this could actually work. I know - they would never tie-down the merlin on that position but I think it looks better than parallel to the dark line. I also found carrier tie-downs in 1/72: http://www.whiteensignmodels.com/brochure/...s/wempe7209.jpg Thank you very much - that was a big help!
  3. Thank you! I did't know, that there was a UK-deck. I only knew the downloadable USN-decks.
  4. I nearly finished my Royal Navy EH-101 in 1/72 and I thought it would be nice to display it on a helicopter deck of a Royal Navy ship. I don't want the whole deck but a cut-out that fits under the helicopter. I didn't define if I should build the deck of a frigate or a carrier so I have both options. Is there a source in the net were I can see where to draw which line and how the tie-downs have to be arranged? This is how my Merlin is looking right now and I thought he would deserve a nice base:
  5. Thank you sooo much! That means my eyes were right and the website was wrong. That's a good hint. I didn't recognize that before. If someone's got a good picture of the tail made from behind it would help me really much scratchbuilding it.
  6. Hello fellow modelers! I'd like to add two scratchbuilt depth charges to my 1/72 Merlin but I only have picures showing the front and the side and now I ask myself how many fins the tail has got. This Link says it has 4 fins but on the pictures it looks like 3 fins: http://www.the-grey-lynx.com/armamento/armament_mk11.htm I took these pics last year but unfortunately I took no picture from the rear. Any help on this would be great!
  7. I think this is the place to find the real Merlin experts. So perhaps you can help me withe the position of the rotorblades. This is my final test for the rotor assembly so I would appreciate any comment on the position of the rotorblades. What do you think?
  8. Since my Merlin is close to the finish line there's a little question I'd like to ask the Merlin experts here. Is it correct, that the steps are medium sea grey or is it another colour? http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Navy/E...rlin/1171227/L/ This is the best photo I found and it looks to me that the steps are medium sea grey and the sides are dark sea grey, right?
  9. After some months there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope to finish the Merlin this year. Complete topic: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=175334
  10. Oh yes - you are! I think we´re getting somewhere. I added the emergency escape lights by using thin stripes of glossy photo paper and I´ve made the hard plastik panel by using aluminium. Is this panel placed on both sides of the cabin? The grab rail is white now. I also folllowed your tip and added the little joystick to the "telephone-thingy" (hard to see in this picture). Here you can also see...hm....dunno, eduard says that gray thing that looks like an old radio should be placed at the starboard-window where the grab rail ends. Any idea what this could be? You can also see my first try of a helix cable. The wire I use is 0,06 mm thick. Human hair is 0,12 mm thick. Here it´s already painted black. What do you think?
  11. First of all I have to thank you, that you take the time to provide your detailed informations about this helicopter. Without your help it would be so much harder. I only found this picture of an Italian Merlin but they don´t have a window at the sonar-console like the British Merlins do: http://www.alfonsomartone.itb.it/fkyslj.jpg So i chose the wrong colour for the handle - I´ll correct that. I followed the primeportal pictures in this case: http://data4.primeportal.net/hangar/howard...m1_10_of_47.jpg The handle is already silver but it´s quite hard to see in my picture - I used this picture as reference: http://data4.primeportal.net/hangar/howard...m1_09_of_47.jpg That´s a nice hint - I´ll try to do that while this place looks quite boring right now. You mean the white stripes shown in this picture? http://data4.primeportal.net/hangar/howard...m1_08_of_47.jpg Here it looks like the sound proofing: http://data4.primeportal.net/hangar/howard...m1_10_of_47.jpg Eduard provided some small parts that look like a small console with some levers and a piece that looks like a telephone. I think i´ll add some wires there too. Like this? http://data4.primeportal.net/hangar/howard...m1_43_of_47.jpg I think I could do that with aluminium. That hasn´t always been the builders intention but thank you.
  12. I just wanted to show that I tried to build the grab handle above the sonar-console. I know there should be a jetisson handle but were exactly? This is the actual state of construction with the urgend request - if you have any interior pictures of a HM.1 Merlin I would really appreciate if you could make them available.
  13. I think I found them: http://data3.primeportal.net/hangar/luc_co...48_27_of_59.jpg Shouldn´t be too hard to build.
  14. I´ve got a HC.3 here and there´s no winch included.
  15. [beg] Any chance?[/beg] Do you mean this edgy bubble right beside that antenna on the top? http://data4.primeportal.net/hangar/howard...m1_44_of_47.jpg
  16. Thank you. That door is included but i think I´ll redo that with thin aluminium and then show it in opended Position as shown in this primeportal-picture: http://data4.primeportal.net/hangar/howard...m1_09_of_47.jpg I´ve seen the handle you are talking about. Here´s a little bit shown: http://www.alsltd.co.uk/images/domains/tactical_2.jpg I already thought about installing it but I´m still figuring out where to attach it to. And it would be sooo great if you can get some pictures. Thank you too. Please excuse me but what are "static vents" and where are they placed on the Merlin? Do you have a picture of them?
  17. Great pictures! The curtain is only used on the HC.3, right? I´ll try to add the small working light right beside the...paul_c called it CCU. I already added two of them to the sonar-station: This shows one cable for the crew-system on every side of the big side-door. So I think I can add 3 helix-cables in my merlin. One in the front (you can see it in this picture from primeportal: LINK) and one on each side of the sliding door. There seems to be a folding mechanism for the seats of the sonar-operators. This picture of an Italian Merlin shows the tables folded up and the seats moved closer to the console: http://www.alfonsomartone.itb.it/fkyslj.jpg (found on this webpage: LINK) And I think I know why: Not much room to use the front door. Right now I´m thinking to do the same and to move the seats to the stored position.
  18. So there´s a pocket for every cable? That´s sad because I wanted to let some of those helix cables hang from the ceiling but if there´s a pocket for every cable I think they are stowed there if not in use. Am I right? I followed the Revell-instructions here. They say that the primer color is a mix of white and yellow (50/50). Perhaps I can darken that by giving it a wash. If not I repaint it. On primeportal I found this picture and here the primer looks quite bright with a slight touch of green in it: http://data3.primeportal.net/hangar/luc_co...48_20_of_59.jpg Thank you but most of the commendation belongs to eduard. They made a fantastic job on their PE-set. Yesterday I found some nice interior-shots of a danish EH-101: http://www.pilots.dk/absolutenm/anmviewer....a=10347&z=2 Here you can see some of the pockets: http://www.pilots.dk/Projekter/2007-EH101/...in_IMG_3148.jpg
  19. Thanks for all your hints, tipps and pictures. I added a small fire extinguisher (made from sprue and pe-remains), the boxes for signal pistol and carts and the small whatever-it-is on the left are copys of the Eduard-pe-parts, printed on photo paper. Any suggestions? I´d like to add some of those helix cables, hanging from the ceiling. Is there any chance to get a "plan" where the connectors are placed and who uses which while on board? In the BBC-Video there is something like a pocket on the wall with "headset cable" written on it. Are there special locations whrere they are placed on a HM.1?
  20. Pictures would be great! The backwall of the cockpit and the small walkway between cockpit and cabin are rare - very rare!
  21. Look what I got! I´ve searched the web for weeks now to get a clue how the sonar housing could look like and I think I finally found it: I think it´s the grey thingie in front of the fotographer in 1:44. If there are some better pics anyware I would be happy about anything I can get.
  22. Thank you! It´s the first time for me to use PE and I would say: If I can do it, anybody can! But while you are around anyway: what is the color of those pockets and the cross. Is it a red cross on white ground or a white cross on green ground?
  23. Thank you! I scanned all pe-parts and now I can print them on photo-paper. ..I allready did that with these panels on the back-wall of the cockpit. Works fine. I just wonder why the boxes and the panels are included in the pe-sets for the HC.3-version but not in the HMA.1 pe-parts.
  24. I hope it´s OK, if I post another question about the Merlin here. I bought a pe-set for the HC.3-version and there are those parts, that have to be folded into boxes and then placed in the small corridor between cockpit and cabin. Are those boxes used in the RN-version too?
  25. Looks the same for me. On top Revell, below Italeri:
