  1. It looks like its from the pages of an old "Battler Briton" comic
  2. Your most probably right Nick( not by me I hasten to add) I cant remember where I first saw this but do recall it was one "box art" rendition in a series of Walrus releases. Perhaps the guys at "the box art den" can shed some light.
  3. ameliorate??....................................................ooh get you...............Sunday words on a Saturday
  4. Im all varnished and ready to go. I shall thin the kits side skirts as per your suggestion Id be throwing good money after bad at those prices. I will (I think) get a set of Tamiya tracks. I have some metal ones and Im really not going to live long enough to build the darn things they were for me a complete chore.
  5. Russ, you never fail to come up with the goodies. Lovely build and finish,Im most envious
  6. IMHO there is a big difference between how we consider box art today as apposed to what some refer to as the "golden age" of kits. Even between those that like box art the appreciation depends on the type of person you are. Some of us look for strict realism and others action and all the other permutations in between. I like this box from the late 50's. Im sure the realists wont, maybe too much going on,but to a kid of the time it was everything I wanted. or maybe this from Airfix (US)
  7. Found this rather damming review of Kittyhawks Kingfisher. It mirrors my experience with the kit. Perhaps it explains the http://doogsmodels.com/2016/03/02/nope-a-rant-about-awful-engineering/
  8. I always find black a hard finish to attain well. I take my hat off to your build and finish.
  9. You will dump them for free but you want money for them if someone else would get enjoyment from them. Have you ever been asked for any or just stating your case if you ever were to be? You seem to have taken my last post very personally. It was not directed at you or any one particularly merely an observation ,I shall delete my post as I have no interest in offending.
  10. post withdrawn to stop causing any offense.
  11. Nice job. Its still in good nick for a 16 year old model. Where do you store them?
  12. Ive just found a 1:48 110 -G night fighter stuck in the back of my stash area and was wondering does it have to be made up as the night fighter variant. The instructions show that the nose has to be drilled to accept the radar array, so I wondered if the same kit was released in another version using the basic molding. Perhaps their are 110 aficionados on the forum to whom I could be indebted .
  13. Ive decided to use a brass barrel for the .30 machine gun,so until I have enough to order from the Big H this is finished. Tamiya acrylics mixes through an Iwata HP-B.
  14. For those that DO like box art this is a goldmine of box nostalgia. http://boxartden.com/
  15. I only have the one,but its taking me an age to really come to terms with it.
  16. Nice build and really good finish. I particularly like the wear and tear showing the "salmon pink" primer, something not often depicted.
  17. I do similar and as well as more recent Hasegawa box art I have quite a few framed classics from the 50s and early 60s.
  18. Thanks for the WIP weathering tutorial It was just what I needed for my present build. The build and finish get a like from me
  19. Any ideas on how to weather this, without having to spend another forty quid on new products?
  20. Always been a lover of box art and still collect it.Most of my early (birthday and Christmas) builds were Revell and Monogram kits with quite startling box art. I still tend to think that if the manufacturer cant be bothered with the box art/presentation then the kit may not be up to much.
