  1. Are you putting the Brazilian flag šŸ‡§šŸ‡· on the nose?
  2. I picked up an old kit (02080) of this aircraft and have hit a slight snag. The canopy in the kit isnā€™t the correct one - not sure what itā€™s from, but certainly doesnā€™t fit the Lightning. I've tried Airfix spares, but no joy. Does anyone know of a source for the part, or if the canopy from a different kit/variant will fit?
  3. So glad I found this thread. Going to build the Tamiya 1/72 Birdcage, but with a personal angle. A family member was FAA, flying the Corsair out of Quonsett, RI in mid-1943. Unfortunately he was killed in a training crash aged 19 - Iā€™d like to replicate his aircraft as a tribute (if that isnā€™t too morbid?). I have the details from the RNAS site, so some extra decals and we should be good - just need to work out how to get the specific lettering details sorted.
  4. Great work - loving the look youā€™re going for there. šŸ‘šŸ¼
  5. Nice build! Does anyone know if this, or the AZ Models kit, is available currently? Quick search doesnā€™t turn anything up. Looking to build as daughter joining UAS in autumn and I figured it might be nice to have on her shelf!
  6. Thanks @rob Lyttle - I tried a small piece on a tailplane ā€¦looked great and rivet/panel details really showed up with a little burnishing. Very satisfying.
  7. @rob Lyttle - great work and a fantastic ā€˜how toā€™ resource. When applying the sticky aluminium foil, are you using small strips butted up against each other, or full width pieces? Looking to practice on something like a P-47 before attempting a big bird. If youā€™ve already documented your approach elsewhere, apologies - just tell me where to go (in the politest terms!).
  8. Thanks @rob Lyttle - when mine arrives Iā€™ll check for the plate.
  9. Thanks all - great welcome! Main interests are 1/72 and 1/48 aircraft, particularly ā€˜golden ageā€™ machines. As a kid it was all WW2 stuff, but not so much now.
  10. Thank you guys. Such a comprehensive build story that makes the level of modification effort very clear. Huge kudos ā€¦looking forward to the big reveal!
  11. Hi - reading this with interest. First post and a quick question: does anyone know if the older Revell Ventura (85-5531) is viable for this conversion? Does it differ significantly in quality from the newer kit? Iā€™ve seen the mentions of the new kit having a blanking plate for the turret and generally being a ā€˜box of joyā€™, so hope the older version is as good. Cheers!
  12. for I have sinned. Itā€™s been 40 years since I last made a model! šŸ˜” Thanks for the add - looking forward to getting back into what was a great hobby when I was a wee lad. Please be gentle!šŸ™šŸ»
