  1. My plan is to build all of Revell's 1/144 special Tornado schemes. These are them incase you havn't already seen them in the shops: These are the ones I am missing, if anyone knows where to find one, or the decals for them then let me know I've already doen the top one with the black panther on the tail, so I thought I'd give the RAF GR.1 a try this time. As expected the kit is really nicely moulded with fine panel line detail, and goes together easily. Here is a shot of the contents: There are two extra RAF sprues, containing the larger fuel tanks, Sky Shadow ECM pod and lots of ordnance. Sadly no chin pod The cockpit is pretty basic, I just used the decals as you can't see much once the canopy is in place anyway. It's a one piece affair, but I'm sure the brave could cut it and make it look good posed open. I've added a few custom bits to it so far to make it look a bit more like the real thing. I've made wing seals out of some plasticard that was heavily thinned, and the chin pod out of some scrap sprue. I'm going to have to scratch some aerials and the little fins on the tail too, but I think they are best added after painting. Is there anything else obvious I've missed to convert an IDS into a GR.1? I think I've covered everything. The kit comes with 2 x ALARM, 2 x Paveway and 4x 1,000lb iron bomb. I think I'm going to go with the Paveways on this one.
  2. What was the program? I've been there quite a few times over the years.
  3. That's not mine, but apparently he didn't do anything to them other then add some paint.
  4. The detail on the Hasegawa one looks much better when there is a coat or two of paint on it. There is an 'In Progress' thread of one here: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=226660
  5. Sadly I didn't manage to get this done before the deadline. A friend decided to visit on the final weekend, and I was ill last weekend. No fun at all! I've finished 99% of it, but when I took off the masking over the canopy disaster struck! It seems somehow some future managed to sneak it through a gap somewhere and has fogged up the inside, if I remove the canopy is there a way of fixing this? I don't know how visible it is from these pics. This is where I am at right now:
  6. Decals going on tonight, maybe a flat coat if they set enough. Will I get it done in time? . . . . .
  7. What colour should the AN/ALQ-101 be? The paint instructions for the MA decals say white, as does the illustration on the bucc website, but I can't find any pictures from that time period where it isn't overall dark green so I just want to be sure!
  8. Here we are, just before painting. The air brake and slipper tanks were a really terrible fit and took a lot of sanding to look anything like decent. I also sanded off the rivets which were much too big.
  9. I found some decent pics of the practice bomb dispenser I need to scratchbuild, does anyone know what it is called? http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Ha...neer/0246810/L/ http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Navy/H...neer/0955418/L/
  10. I think I'll have this ready for painting this evening, hopefully I should be able to get this finished in time!
  11. What I do will depend on when it is/how much space I have. I do plan on building one of every type of Tornado in 1/48, and I've only done a GR.1 so far , also got a few 1/32 and 1/144s so could be anything
  12. I have an almost limitless supply of Tornado's to do, so I'm sure I could find something for this.
  13. I'll definitely be getting a 1/32 Hawk at some point. No rush though, enough on the to do list already! Any ideas when a combat version of the Hawk might be released?
  14. Alclad II is excellent if you can get hold of some online, most stores seem to stock it. They have a huge range of shades too.
  15. Have they said how exactly they are going to use the Herk to replace the Nimrod?
  16. £9.4 million? That's cheap! Quick, build more! Looked like landing lights to me!
  17. Ah, cheers. So photos are not very likely then? I couldn't find any of the Jag either.
  18. Hi, I have the Airfix 1/48 GR4, and one of the schemes is an experimental one with desert pink on the top and the normal grey on the rest of the airframe. Did this scheme ever get applied to an aircraft? I havn't been able to find any pics of a GR4 like that anywhere. If anyone has any I'd love to see them! Thanks.
  19. I think the left hand one with the microturbo was zinc chromate and a steel/aluminuim in the shallower part because of the hot exhaust, the right hand one was the same grey as the rest of the aircraft (GR.3).
