  1. Yes, especially when the kit in question has no intake trunking detail or engine faces so you just have a dead end.
  2. Do any aftermarket companies make these any more? I think TwoMikes did a few years ago, but as far as I can tell they are no longer produced.
  3. Thanks, I was leaning towards Post Office Red so I'll go with that unless someone knows differently. Though I've just realised that the red on the decals may not be a match so I may have to do some experimenting!
  4. Apologies if this is answered elsewhere, but I've been searching and not found anything definitive. What is the correct red for the tail of 56 Squadron Phantoms? I'm trying to do depict the aircraft on the Revell boxing of the 1/48 Hasegawa kit. The instructions say Revell "Fiery Red" but I don't trust the Revell colours to be correct . . . I've got decals for a 56 Squadron Tornado F.3 which say the colour should be "Postoffice Red", I've also seen someone say "Signal Red" is the colour they used. So which is the correct one?
  5. I've got this Revell version of the Hasegawa kit, and I plan on making XV426 as featured on the cover of the box. I've got a few questions which hopefully someone can answer Are the decals provided in the kit accurate for XV426? What are the correct BSC codes for the greys, red tail and cockpit interior ? (I'm assuming the Revell paints suggested are probably wrong!) Are the British FOD guards flat with two handles? The US ones seem to have a more three dimensional shape. Thanks!
  6. Good finds, thank you very much!
  7. Does anyone know of any aftermarket companies which sell seeker head covers for 1/48 AIM-9's? I know Eduard do a set of resin missiles that come with the covers, but I don't really want to buy a load of missiles I don't really need if I can help it. Thanks in advance!
  8. Duralumin is very resistant to corrosion in water and acidic waters (the soils in that area of Burma are acidic), but it corrodes badly in alkaline waters.
  9. You can just make out the roundel on top of the wing, just under the rudder. Looks full-colour to me.
  10. There is a great build here that might be of interest http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air...howtopic=153212
  11. Well they were getting on a bit . . .
  12. These pics may or may not help! http://web.bg.uw.edu.pl/welw/military.pl/u...nder/rycina.gif http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb2/ken...ng/POT_5220.jpg http://www.air-and-space.com/20051018%20Ed...20front%20l.jpg http://www.air-and-space.com/20051018%20Ed...%20head%20l.jpg http://f.blog.xuite.net/f/c/3/0/23928322/b...34687637/14.jpg http://110.45.145.210/files/attach/images/...-1A_AIM-9P4.jpg
  13. Video up on the BBC site now: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-14106730
  14. End of the year at Modelzone? Though I suspect 1/48 F-18 for £10 and 1.32 Tornado ECR for £15.
  15. Puma down in Hampshire, no serious injuries though. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-14034511
  16. I hope they do get one back in the air. I remember seeing the odd one when on the coast of Devon on holiday a few times when I was younger. Good memories
  17. Gun pods are different too.
  18. Harrier paint colour related: What colours are the leading edges of the wings, front lip of the intake and the fairing at the end of the tail? Thanks.
  19. What colour are the AGM-65s and LAU adapter painted in this photo? http://www.airliners.net/photo/UK---Air/Br...rier/1876342/L/ Thanks!
  20. Won't they all be that dark metalic grey as that is the special stealthy coating?
  21. At least with the interweb you can usually find out what the correct colours for an aircraft should be, I just ignore the painting insructions on Revell* models now. *And most other manufacturers!
  22. Could anyone with the Hobbyboss kit measure the length and width of the front and main u/c bays, and the diameter of the burner cans? I want to see if the Aires resin will fit onto the Airfix kit without being too large or small. Thanks! Airfix ones are: Main (L x W x H): 52mm x 13mm x 10mm Front: 31mm x 10mm x 9mm Exhausts: 17mm diameter, 15mm diameter where is fits into the fuselage.
  23. I don't think Airfix bother with sprue numbers or letters. There should only be one part numbered 22 and one numbered 21 etc.
  24. Nice, are you going to stick HARMs on it like the Growlers do now? You could stick them on the pylons usually used for AIM-9s or ASRAAMs, something like in this pic (only with HARMs!) http://www.ausairpower.net/tornado-alarm-1.jpg
