  1. Thank you! It is yes, I’ve added a tag 😃 sorry, should have said.
  2. Hi All, so here is my M10 Achilles, 75th Anti Tank Regiment, 11th Armoured Division, North West Europe 1944 Honestly, this was a complete joy to build, and as anyone knows, that's usually how Tamiya Kits go. Pretty much did this all out the box, bar the stowage and jerry cans. The Stowage was from someone on eBay, honestly really good and detailed, along with some Tamiya Jerry cans. The straps over the Jerry Cans are made out of Tamiya tape and painted. But Ollie, its not in Olive Drab or SCC15! Ha! Yes I know, I had a toss up between SCC15 and SCC2, and chose SCC2 as I think I needed a break from Green 😂 and honestly, I think it looks amazing in SCC2, I hope you agree! That being said, I know it may not be totally historically accurate, but I hope somewhere in 1943, at least 1 or 2 Achilles were painted this colour! (We can only hope!) I'm yet to add the figures, which will be coming soon. It's one muddy Achilles. My goal for this was to test some weathering techniques and eventually add this to a Diorama. A muddy countryside, hull down next to a farmhouse. The rest of the photos are below, id love to have some feedback on it, so feel free to comment! I'm aware that the rope for the stowage is a little to thick. Unsure of my next build, but I'm sure to actually update you guys on it in the other section. (Maybe the Comet? Or a Cromwell?) Enjoy all and thank you! 🤟👍
  3. Obviously i could be totally wrong here, so was just wanting some input onto the matter, taking most of the info from the Achilles Tank craft book (Linked below) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tank-Destroyer-Achilles-Anti-Tank-1944-1945/dp/1526741903/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=&sr= I know all American tanks came over in Olive drab, but in 1943 the SCC2 was the main colour? So maybe it is possible for them to be painted that? Even if just a small number (I guess anything is possible in wartime) Link below to a pic for referance from the book. https://imgur.com/a/tx2qvD3 Cheers!
  4. Im only going off whats said in the tank craft book. Sorry i guess i may have worded it wrong and i quote "SCC2 was replaced by SCC15 in April 1944, SCC2 could still be seen for sometime after as paints were customarily used until stocks were exhausted" Could be wrong of course.
  5. Was looking to get some info on the Achilles colours for 1944. So the UK adopted the M10 in 1943 and were starting to convert them to the Achilles at this time aswel. Now between 1941-1944 the standard british colour was SCC2, so its safe to asume that some Achilles would have gone into combat on D-Day, and throughout Normandy without being resprayed with SCC15, since at the time paint wouldnt have been in a numerous supply. Sadly there really isnt any picture evidnce as theyre all in black and white, and most we see now are painted SCC15. Im currently building the Tamiya 1/35 Achilles, and dont want to do SCC15, but also want it to be historically correct. Reading the Tank Craft book on the Achilles, alot are depicted with the SCC2 colour, and not the usual SCC15. Just want your guys thoughts on this. Cheers All!
  6. Like most of you i built models as a kid, with my grandad, however moved away from it as i grew up. I picked it up again a few years back (in lockdown) and havent looked back since (My wife and wallet would disagree) I pretty much only build UK vehicles, such as the challys and spitfires, no matter what era, aslong as its british, im in. Ive been using bitmodeller for a while, but finally decided to make an account and get involved. I feel like im at the point now where i can give advice where needed (and also take it, god knows i need it 😂). Modelling has been infrequent for me over the lasy year as i run my own business, maybe only getting 1/2 models done in 2022. My aim is to do more, and become better. I do build for my own pleasure, but i can be a perfectionist, which really doesnt help! 😂
